She is 22nd all time in defensive rebounding. No other guard is top 100 by a mile. Think of all of the great posts and fours since 1978. Then she has created 1600 more points than any other female between points and assists. She created more than 6300 points in her time at Iowa, no one else has created more than 4700. So the best point creator plus the best defensive rebounder among guards by a mile...and she is not top 5? 1978 is 47 years ago, and as a guard she still managed 22nd (ironically since she is 22). Mike drop. She is so far ahead in total points created that no other player has created the difference in one year. She could have played 3 years and been the all time leader in points created.

She’s literally wide open for a three on the court, just watching the teams play. I can not understand how she hasn’t gotten in more trouble because of it. It’s honestly ridiculous.

Who on this planet asked for EIGHT more NCAA tournament teams???? The tournament was perfectly fine the way it was! If anything we should have an even “power of 2” and go back to 64.
Will i still watch the first games? Yes, but I think this waters down the field.
I think we need to leave the NCAAT TO THE BEST 64 teams (including all champs) to fight for the natty. 76 is too damn much.

First off, this is coming from someone who has gotten annoyed with the Iowa overexposure and doesn’t root for them in other sports. But I legit don’t understand why it benefits anyone to draw the most ridiculous region for Iowa when they were arguably the #2 overall seed.
Like, these teams aren’t just good teams. These are all teams with experience playing Iowa and/or have given Iowa a hard time before (KSU, Colorado, LSU, Creighton, Louisville). They totally threw the no rematches principle out of the window here. In addition, Iowa’s biggest struggle is against big post players, and they get put in region with Angel Reese, Ayoka Lee, and Lauren Betts. I’m not just trying to be dramatic when I say this region felt perfectly catered towards trying to eliminate Iowa early as possible (and The Athletic said this as well), and if they somehow make it out, they’ll be more worn out than other Final Four teams. And it inadvertently resulted in a few other cupcake regions.
Yeah, you have to beat the best to be the best. But I just don’t understand what the selection committee wants from this? For Iowa to have an early exit so the tournament can lose TV ratings and money? So people see the worse numbers and decide not to invest in the women’s basketball? To prioritize petty jealousies over growth of the sport?
Would like to know other people’s thoughts on an explanation of why. Yeah, everyone’s path to winning their region is hard because the final four is hard to make. But Iowa’s regional draws don’t feel like a coincidence and it’s super fishy to me.

I said this right after the UConn win last year that her coaching style would not work and she’d have to adjust. I was absolutely flamed can my ball knowledge be respected now?
What a flaming hot take by me!

Leave alone the fact that Tournebize has already been playing basketball as an international professional before joining a college basketball team. How is it allowed for a player previously not on a roster to join a team after the season has already started?
Congrats on Staley and USC for getting one of the best players in the world to join their program conveniently right before SEC play starts. But there should absolutely be more stringent rules about players joining rosters after the season starts and players who previously played professionally shouldn't be able to join an NCAA roster.
This is ridiculous

For the better part of two decades, Illinois women's basketball was basically a doormat in the Big Ten. Outside of some really successful years under Theresa Grentz in the late 1990s, the program spent much of the 2000s and 2010s struggling to stay competitive, let alone earn national recognition. By the time Shauna Green arrived in 2022, Illinois hadn't made the NCAA Tournament since 2003 and was coming off a miserable 7–20 season with just one conference victory. What she's accomplished since then is pretty remarkable. Illinois has put together four consecutive winning seasons, made three NCAA Tournament appearances, won the 2024 WBIT championship, and become a nationally ranked program again. Now they're entering the 2026–27 season ranked No. 23 in the country. For a program that spent so many years near the bottom of the Big Ten, that's an enormous achievement. Green hasn't just made Illinois respectable again; she's completely changed the expectations surrounding women's basketball in Champaign Illinois.

Sorry if this breaks the rules, but this is so comically bad at this point.

With west Virginia’s win today the final hosting spot is between Kentucky, Minnesota, and MSU. All have strong arguments and nearly identical resumes. It’s just stressful being affiliated with one of these teams and not knowing our traveling destiny. I’d say we have the highest probability of hosting out of these 3. However, it is not 100%

Look, Kim Mulkey is the greatest coach of all-time and there’s really no debate. As a player in the 1980’s, she played for Sonja Hogg and Leon Barmore and helped the Louisiana Tech Lady Techsters win the first NCAA Women’s Basketball National Championship in 1982. After graduation, she joined the Tech coaching staff as an assistant, and Louisiana Tech again won the National Championship in 1988. Mulkey stayed in that capacity until 2000, when she departed to become the head coach at Baylor.
At Baylor, she transformed the Lady Bears (as they were known then) into the best Big 12 women’s basketball program in history. Baylor won three National Championships in 2005, 2012, and 2019 and Kim Mulkey produced talent such as Sophia Young, Brittney Griner, Odyssey Sims, Kalani Brown, Lauren Cox, etc.
In 2021, she made headlines as she left her long-time position in Waco to accept the head coaching job at LSU, which meant she was returning to her home state of Louisiana. In her first year, she brought the Tigers back to the NCAA tournament. In her second year, they won the National Championship and Angel Reese cemented herself as the greatest women’s college basketball player of all-time. LSU has remained a contender every year since then, with players like Aneesah Morrow, Flau’jae Johnson, and Mikaylah Williams having stellar careers in Baton Rouge.
Look guys, Kim Mulkey is the first coach in history to win a National Championship as a player, an assistant coach, and a head coach. There’s no one else remotely close to accomplishing this feat, and given that she also produces exceptional WNBA talent, she’s obviously the greatest women’s basketball coach in history and is an outstanding role model for these young women. LSU is very lucky to have her as their women’s basketball coach and they are the clear favorites to win the National Championship this year (as they always are). Thank you.

I’m not gonna judge the whole USC fan base for the actions of a few but… from people I know in the FMB, they received hanging threats. I hope JuJu recovers and that was an absolutely devastating injury but c’mon, do better,

Since women’s basketball is getting more and more popular every year, can NCAA or ESPN or Peacock just SOMEONE pls fight for women to get better coverage and timing?? The fans are here and clearly grows every year. I’m so tired every Sunday and Thursday when every game comes on at the same time making it impossible to watch. Like come on, all conference championships start between 1pm and 3pm today. Last week ESPN2 was showing training camp for MLB and ranked women’s teams were playing on SECN+
Let’s do better for 2026-27 season and give them the air time they deserve!! Honestly recruit the person from Unrivaled that got the club TNT airtime 4 nights a week plus HBO Max.

Okay, so it’s a frustration rant/soapbox? But can we talk about the fact that Fox is supposed to be showing the Maryland/Michigan game and… nearly 30 minutes in they’re still on NASCAR? With absolutely no mention or reference of the NCAAW game they’re supposed to be covering? Is this not a contract violation of some kind? I understand sometimes an event goes over 5 minutes or something and they occasionally blur their times, but it’s clear they just aren’t concern with the Maryland/Michigan game. The race has ended and they’re still on it celebrating burnouts? It might be a different conversation if ESPN also had the game available for their + subscribers, but FOX has exclusive rights for this game. With all of the increased traction NCAAW has gotten recently, this is still just happening so blatantly?

So far this season, Iowa State and Iowa have each played 6 teams. Iowa is 6-0, ISU is 5-1
Iowa has 2.5 Power 5 wins, all by double digits (Virginia Tech, Kansas and Wazzu). Iowa State has zero so far.
The teams share 1 common opponent: Drake. Iowa won by 13 on the road, Iowa State won by 2 at home.
Iowa is undefeated, ISU lost to Northern Iowa by 12.
Don’t get me wrong, ISU is a good team, with some very talented young players like Crooks and Brown. It is till early, and ISU hasn’t had a hard test. But I think Iowa’s record is much more compelling at this time.

Geno quips: 3 parades in 3 years, we're not the parade capital of the world; last year coach Hurley said we were going to threepeat. It may not have gone according to plan, but we certainly did! I don't know who is going to do it next year, but we are going for the forepeat!
