Some updates from your new mod team

First off, thanks for being a part of this community, we genuinely appreciate that people enjoy posting and commenting here and sharing your experience and knowledge.

A bit of an update and info from your new janitors

We've turned on media sharing in comments so you can share gifs and images as well, we love seeing what people come up with.

We've added some basic rules, please make sure to read em before posting or commenting.

Be nice and civil is pretty easy, if you're getting that worked up that you feel you need to be rude, maybe go outside and take a few deep breaths.

If you're asking about a specific movie please include the name of the movie in your post title, it makes it a lot easier for people to answer your questions.

It's also helpful for people searching for information about that movie, Reddit is indexed by Google so it'll come up in online searches.

BotBouncer is on the team here now to help guard against bots so if we suspect accounts are inauthentic we'll pass em along to the experts at r/BotBouncer.

One of the problems this community has had recently, which partly led to the change of management, is sharing links to pirated content

We have no easy way or the time to verify if these links and content are safe for our users, and sharing links to pirated content can get this sub permabanned.

So if you wanna go sail the seven seas, sail your boat elsewhere than here mateys.

Stop-motion horror movie - Rabbits

Post image
• Upvotes

Does anyone know of a stop-motion horror/thriller movie about these rabbits that go around and kidnap people? I distinctly remember that they were grey and had eerily long ears. I can’t remember if it was clay or felt but the rabbits were shaped like the drawing I attached. I don’t know if my description is accurate so hopefully someone will know what I’m talking about. The title was pretty short tho.

What's your idea of a really scary movie since childhood?

What movie did you see as a kid, which traumatized and still traumatizes you even to this day?

Me? When I was 8, 9, or 10, one of my irresponsible yet older former "brothers" naively introduced me to Ghostbusters 1 on rented VHS without so much as bothering to watch it himself or even check the rating on the VHS cover first, whether it was meant for kids or not.

No, he probably just thought that since it had comedians like Bill Murray and Dan Aykroyd in it and heard that it was funny that, "What the heck, I'll share it with and show it to my baby brother all the same. It must be funny somehow."

So, during the movie, I started to get scared the moment those demon dogs appeared from then on. Next thing you know, I was scared of ghosts for a year afterwards.

At 19, I tried giving the sequel and it was worse. I tried again with the third one when it came out, no go. So, I decided I wouldn't give anymore future sequels a shot from then on. Other than the fact that William Atherton's character is still an asshole just like his other character in Die Hard 1 and 2 too.

In the end, all Ghostbusters movies still traumatize me to this day no matter how old I am now.

The only one I liked so far and which hasn't scared me is the 2016 remake despite what others may think or say. Plus, I like the actresses and have nothing against women doing men's jobs either.

How are Dream Scenario and the essay two pretty different sides of Kristoffer Borgli?

Hi everyone, I have a question every time Kristoffer Borgli comes up, two movies get mashed together. Someone brings up the 2012 essay. Someone else says Dream Scenario is great. Neither answers the other.

The essay is about him and a high school student about ten years younger. You can question that writing and how he explains it.

Dream Scenario is the 2023 one where a normal guy shows up in strangers' dreams. Then the dreams turn into nightmares. You can like that and still dislike the essay.

Same goes the other way. If you didn't like the movie, say why. Was it a cut, the slow middle, the ending?

Does anyone else want these kept apart? Or does the essay change the movie for you in a way you can't undo?

What's a movie you will never watch?

What's a movie that came out years or is coming out soon, but you will never, EVER watch all no matter what anyone says? Not even once?

Me? I haven't seen the last so-called Ice Age movie they made with a different cast, Titanic, or the old Going in Style either and I'm not going to watch the new Focker movie coming soon too.

Same goes for whatever movies my 1st estranged brother brings us to watch before taking them back with him.

Anyone else noticed the timeline issues in “Field of Dreams?”

I love this movie, but upon rewatching today, I could not help but have problems with the narrative due to timeline issues.

John Kinsella’s age:
He would have been 56 when Ray was born.
1. Why would Ray say that he couldn’t forgive him for getting old? He was already old at his birth.
2. Ray said that his father was already old when he was the same age (36), but how would Ray know that, when he wasn’t alive then?

Ray, Annie and “the sixties”:
1. Assuming that Annie and Ray are the same age, they would have been 7-17 years old through the sixties. They would have started college in 1970. Ray says he left home at 17 after fighting one last time with his father, so how would he have got into college if he didn’t finish high school? Do many kids finish high school at 17?
2. After Annie’s protest speech at the PTA meeting, she says “it’s just like the sixties again”. Is it plausible that she would have attended protests in the sixties as a teen, or would it have been a college thing? (Which would have actually been in the seventies).

Karin’s age
Ray narrates that Karin came along “a few years later”, after saying he and Annie got married in 1974. This would put Karin’s birth year around 1977, so her age in the movie is supposed to be 11. Why did they cast a child that looked to be around 6 years old?

In movies (horror specifically), why do the characters always pull out what they were stabbed with when you're not supposed to?

The Matrix (1999) without machines as the villains

When I first watched the Matrix, the part from starting to the point where Morpheus says "we gave birth to AI" was great. But when he said that I felt as if something great was reduced to small thing.

Before that "The Matrix" was a mystery an unknown.

The question, "What is the Matrix?", I thought this question will be the thing that will be driving the movie.

I expected the Matrix to be a cosmic thing not some little server running on earth. Even if they woke up, and found some kind of machines, the machine should have told, "we only maintain this and have no idea why it exists"

The Oracle, The Architect, The Merovingian all are great, it forms a great myth, but even they should not be the ultimate. The Architect could say, "I designed the Matrix on the inside, but I know nothing of what is there outside".

Just some thoughts.

What is wrong with numbering movie titles?

What is wrong with numbering movies? Some movies I can understand that they dont really need a number like older James Bond Movies, because each movie is it's own contained story with nothing that carries over to the rest of them. But movies that quite heavy rely on the continuation of the story, like Maze runner I feel like they really should be numbered.

Now I can understand that it might be to not scare away potential movie goers because they might feel pressured to watch previous movies to get the full picture but once the movie hit streaming they might as well give the movies a number.

Movies can still have their sub-title but im just tired of constantly having to Google the watch order of movies.

What are your thoughts on this?

Did you like the new Street Fighter movie?

I liked it. I thought it was a good movie. It was even better than I expected. Heres why…

1) It was visually beautiful, beautiful environments, lighting, sunsets, cities, buildings, vehicles, etcetera.

2) All the characters looked interesting, unique faces, unique outfits, unique personalities, plus everyone delivered an excellent acting job.

3) Excellent fight scenes. Every move in the 1990s Street Fighter video game is in this movie. Literally. Power punches, mid punches, grapples and throws. Plus The actors acted out every movement exactly as its seen in the video game.

4) Excellent special effects. They did an amazing job at all those special effects. Well animated and interesting.

5) Excellent story. It stays true to original Street Fighter story that most people dont even know about.

Conclusion: It was good. Its a classic in my opinion. The only negative is that its full of childish humor, gay jokes, fart jokes, penis jokes, explicit sexual content, and so forth. They should fire the writer for such a poor job. My conclusion is that this 2026 movie was okay and I give it a score of 8 out of 10

Can someone explain the plot of Backrooms

Post image

I just watched this, and did not understand the point of the movie whatsoever. Are the scary characters just an interpretation of the character’s mind, and why can’t they escape it?

Are we supposed to be familiar with the game before watching the movie?

Am I wrong for not going to see Wildwood when I’m actively anti ai and want more original films?

Like I don’t know why I’m kicking myself in the ass over this but I just don’t really have interest in going to see it. I have supported other original films this year like Send Help, Buddy, and of course Obsession, and now with a 100 million dollar animation adventure out I feel like I’m obligated to go see it. But I’m tired, busy, and it’s just not on my radar and I feel like I’m going something wrong by not supporting it.

The Prestige - Why did the Borden Twins have to swap who was Fallon

I understand hiding that you have a twin to pull of the trick. What I don’t understand is why you have to swap who is who. Just let brother 1 be Borden and brother 2 be Fallon. I guess you’d have to take off the disguise to Transported Man, but it solves the problem of them being in love with 2 different women.

Which leads me to another question, do you really love someone if you’re willing to 1. Trick them their whole life and 2. let your brother sleep with them when they think it’s you. I mean maybe they never slept with the wrong woman but did they ever literally sleep in the same bed with the wrong woman?

And which one is the dad??

Those who’ve seen Resident Evil, what did you think of the ending? Spoiler

I absolutely loved the movie, and it made the world of RE pretty easy to understand for any non fans that watched it. But the ending did kinda throw me off.

I understand not all movies have to have happy endings, and I’ve seen quite a few that way. I seriously did want something nice to happen though, Bryan was a fantastic and relatable character and seeing him just give in like that at the end hurt my feelings lowkey. I was thinking he’d get stuck with the cure at the last moment, or somehow resist the infection, but that’s just what the director and writers wanted.

I do like the idea that he’d be one of those NPCs who leave a voice log though.

Why actors don't cry anymore? (Animals movie in Netflix)

What's up with the movies and series nowadays that when a scene requires an actor to cry, they don't really cry anymore?

I was used to see tears rolling down the cheeks, mucus even at times. But recently I've seen a bunch of drama series and movies where characters react to really extreme events (death, pain, fear), they "cry" and not a tear rolls down their cheek.

Maybe I'm nitpicking here but it completely puts me off from believing the story. Suddenly I'm detached from the story just thinking "that crying is not convincing".

The most recent example is "Animals" movie in Netflix. Movie is good. A list stars. There's a scene where I would expect characters to be secreting fluids from their face, and it just didn't happen. It put me off.

They do all the facial gestures, they change their breathing, the hand movements, all their body language is right, but the lack of tears kills it for me.

Am I crazy here? AITA?

Looking for the movie "Play Hard" 2013

I've been searching for this film for years. I reached out to the director via Facebook, and his response was:

Currently I believe it was sold to china…. can talk to the distributor and get a copy Not sure the price.

Since then, he's kinda ghosted me. I've tried reaching out every few months for over a year and I never get a response.

There is an imdb page for it, listing Melanie C of the Spice Girls as having played the role of "Christy". This is why I want to try and find it. It's so obscure, and no one in the fandom (as far as I know) has ever seen or heard anything about this film.

I want any information regarding her involvement. If she was actually in the film, I want to try to track it down.

I have a hunch that she may not have been involved and her name was used to bring in an audience (just going off how radio silent the director got after I asked if it was really her that was involved). It has some other big-ish names that acted in it. But now I'm wondering if they were actually involved at all either. Does this film actually exist???

I'm getting mixed messages from what I have read about the film. It was claimed it was just a script and never actually filmed, but also it was in post-production, and then the director himself saying it was done and sold to a distributor in China. It's all very sketchy.

That said, I would like any information about Melanie C's involvement, and if she was involved, I would love to find somewhere to watch it. Fully willing to pay to see it if someone finds it on a pay-to-view site.

ETA: I've found a link to the imdb page and a Russian version of imdb that lists it as released, but when I tried to link them, the post got removed. Not sure why, but I've edited them out.
