Discussion Let’s be adults here
The Sift has been announced, and fans have said their piece on it. Let’s talk about some of the things I’ve seen.
First of all, Minecraft fans may be some of the most ungrateful and selfish fanbases in the gaming industry. We have a game that costs $30, has consistent live service, multiple small updates per year, constantly adding new features, and all of this is completely free, and the fans still manage to whine and moan about what they’re NOT getting.
Let’s get into the timeline. First End update was 10 years ago, and nether update was 6 years ago. Minecraft was careful to make sure these updates added at least one interesting aspect to the game. Shulker boxes, piglin bartering, etc etc.
The recent Minecraft live mentioned they’d been working on the Sift since 2021. That puts them starting development directly after the nether update. What has happened since then? Caves and cliffs. Trial chambers, Pale gardens, The deep dark, and more. They’ve added hundreds of building blocks, redstone tech, combat, movement, new enchantments, armor types. They’ve been consistently updating the game with these small updates, and then a handful of larger ones, always improving. And now the Sift is right around the corner, finally making use of the portal in ancient cities. Another huge plus.
But all I see is “end update when” “more combat” “stop with the more building blocks” “inventory update”. Yall a bunch of whiny little kids! You think they don’t see it? If they’ve been working on the sift for 5 years, they likely didn’t have the workload to add an end or inventory update.
Building blocks? Mf it’s a sandbox game. The whole idea is building. And the people asking for more combat are just selfish, because they’ve been adding to combat as well (mace and spear for example).
So to end all this, you all need to stop being complainers, and appreciate the fact that Mojang, after 15 years, is still consistently coming up with interesting and unique updates for their game.

Discussion A new method of splice detection call "Jolt Cracking" was discovered.
Rubyswolf9767 discovered a new way of detecting cuts in any Minecraft video which he called "Jolt Cracking".
It relies on the fact that the hunger bar shakes always depends on the in game time. This allows us to basically reverse engineer how much time the player has run minecraft and since this time will never change per session, you can instantly see using this method where any cuts may have happened and for how long the time was spent between the cut.
Even a perfect seamless cut can be caught using this jolt cracking technique.
This has massive implications as this can be used to expose many "legit" speedruns on the leaderboards.
I highly recommend watching this video by Ruby as he explains it much better than I did.

Discussion What do you think of a new creeper variant?
Would you like to see a new variation of the creeper mob to go alongside the new variations of Skeleton and zombie( frostbite and parched)
Personally i don’t mind if a new variation for the creeper is made but I’m also not begging for one.
The creeper mob is also 17 years old btw. Which maybe could mean it be due some attention.

Discussion to the people who wanted an end update, why?
to the people who wanted an end update, why?
I honestly find the idea of an end update not the best at all, since mojang themselves and even notch said that they wanted the end to be this soulless or "bland".
I feel like the end is just an end to minecraft and a few cool things like elytras and shulker boxes and that's it.
maybe a little bit more, but I don't see why it should go anything over that.
While the idea of an end update sounds pretty cool, i would take a new dimension over it any day, especially that a whole new dimension is basically a complete rehaul to the game instead of a huge update in my opinion.
If mojang were to make an end update I would maybe want a new structure and a couple new items and maybe a mob and that's it for me, the end should be this "incomplete" for the game lore to actually be lore for me.

Discussion I ordered a skin customization for $9 Was it worth it?
After two years, I decided to update my skin and commissioned an artist to redesign it. But my friends say I wasted my money on a generic reshadow
Please respect the work of artists and skin owners; ask them for permission before taking skins from their page
As for the skins on my page, you’re free to take them without any restrictions:https://namemc.com/profile/ObKich
HUGE UPDATE! Sorry I didn't mention the artists behind these two skins right away.
The first version was drawn by my friend deathfaded (Discord tag)
The second version was drawn by Dane4ka_ (Minecraft username)—he creates custom Minecraft skins on his Telegram channel. Danie (@dane4kasworks) / X
I really liked the skin by Dane4ka_; I don’t want to offend him in any way or encourage anyone to steal his skins.
upd: I forgot to mention: The skin on the left is one that a friend drew for me for free two years ago.
And the one on the right is the modified version that cost $9.
upd2: I never imagined my post would cause such a stir; opinions in the comments have split into several camps. I'm really scared💀

Discussion What will we do with the new liquid?
I guess we’ll be able to unlock new player abilities like double jumping because the terrain looks pretty harsh to navigate. In the short lore trailer for Dungeons 2 we see the Illagers attacking a mob and later they transform themselves using magical powers.

Discussion Why don't they add new bosses?
In 1.4.2 they added the Wither almost 14 years ago and since then, nothing. Why? I know Minecraft is a sandbox game, but does that really prevent them from adding new bosses? They don't even have to be required they could be completely optional for players looking for a challenge.

Discussion Diamonds aren't rare, and you don't need to hoard them like a dragon with its gold
People have talked about jukebox being expensive for a long time, and I saw this mentioned many times since the last snapshot released, so I just wanted to explain why from my point of view it's simply not true.
First of all, let's establish the use cases diamonds actually have in Minecraft:
- Tools
- Weapons
- Armor
- Templates duplication
- Enchanting table crafting
- Jukeboxes
With Mending being a thing, once you craft your tools, weapons and armor, you almost never need to replace them, and if you do - you can buy new tools, weapons and armor from vilalgers and disenchant it to put the enchantments you need on them, so you don't actually need diamonds for that, it's a one time investment at most.
So the player doesn't need that many diamonds before they become mostly irrelevant to them as a resource in the game.
But how do you actually find diamonds, and is it hard to do?
Simple and short answer is that finding diamonds isn't hard at all.
Long answer is, finding diamonds is easy, because there's a lot of ways to do that. The most obvious is going to a cave and just looking around, you'll find tons of them very reliably, and if you have Fortune on your pickaxe, as one should, you'll be literally drowning in them. Simply find an opening to a big cave on the surface, go down, and there's so many of them, you'll be catching yourself missing multiple veins of diamonds, because you notice a different vein and went to it.
But what's there other than caves? Well, there's lots and lots of structures. You can find diamonds in shipwrecks, and shipwrecks have maps that lead you to buried chests, that also have diamonds in them. There's also diamonds in villages, abandoned mineshafts, desert temples, trial chambers, stronghold, and now also abandoned camps.
And it doesn't stop with the overworld, there's diamonds in bastions, nether fortresses, and end cities. Especially end cities, there's loads of them in the end cities.
All you have to do is explore the world.
Conclusion
I have no issues with the jukebox using a single diamond in its crafting recipe, because I don't need these diamonds anyway, and I always find more and more of them. And if you'd ever leave your base? So would you.
Mojang is very clearly aiming to add more things for players to explore, but I notice that a lot of players just stick to sitting at their base forever, never leaving to explore the world, which in some cases leads to players having a very hard time gathering any resources, not just diamonds, hence everything seems "too expensive".
Maybe I'm wrong, because I never needed and never intend to need 10000 jukeboxes for any build, I see it as more of a complementary decorative block, maybe something subtle to use for a wall, but not something I would ever need hundreds and thousands of, hence why the crafting recipe doesn't bother me. I could craft a few stacks and have enough for decorations in my builds for months.

Discussion Excited to have a pretty dimension
Don't get me wrong, I too was definitely hoping for an End update, but I think it is an excellent decision to have a dimension that's more pretty and hospitable. It'll be refreshing to have a dimension where there is real incentive to actually set up a base there and live there.
My only hope is that they will create some way to find Ancient Cities reliably (like a stronghold) because I can imagine this place being somewhere where players will actively be wanting to spend lots of time building in, and can see it becoming one of the core "biomes" that players choose to set up bases in.

Discussion My whole Minecraft life has been a lie
So… I was today years old when I learned that a golden pickaxe is the best to use for mining?! And same with an axe?! Sure their attack damage is worse… but for mining? They are superior to everything ?! That’s crazy. Why does no one ever make golden picks?! This is blasphemy! How did I not know this?! lol maybe I’m just dumb but I always thought netherite was best at everything.. diamond was next …. Sure they’re best for attack and protection. But mining efficiency?! They are POOP in comparison! My whole world has just shifted on its axis. I feel like I’m being punkd rn lol
Anyways that’s my Minecraft realization of the day… I’m probably an idiot and everyone already knows this.. but why don’t I ever see a single person using the golden picks for mining or for chopping trees?! Not YouTubers, not other players in SMPs, everyone goes from iron to diamond. They usually don’t even bother making a golden pick! Why?! Genuinely need to know. I see alot of YouTubers use their regular axe to fight mobs with- so I can see in that sense why you’d maybe not want a golden axe.. but picks I never see being used to fight. And even with using your axe, you could have two axes then I don’t know the difference is unreal for how much stronger gold is! I’m just in shock right now lmfao I cannot be the only person who didn’t know this.. right? Because I seriously need some answers then if everyone knows this WHY does no one use them then?? lol ok thanks in advance for dealing with my revelation and possible ignorance.. hopefully someone can enlighten me😅
have a blessed day yall!

Discussion New tech: Cushion line
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Easier to set up than boats like this, especially if you have a large sheep farm
EDIT: To everyone I said that in Survival Mode you can go 80b/s, I'm sorry, I have misinformed you. In Survival, entity interaction range is 3, so cushions must be 2 blocks apart. Which means, with butterfly click you can go ~30b/s, and max b/s is 60, with autoclicker, or 20 CPS. From world bottom to top it would still take 9.6 seconds with 10 CPS because range is counted from eyes, not legs.

Discussion What is your building approach?
Anyone should build exactly how they want, and this is just a question of taste. I’m just curious about people’s thoughts around it.
Personally, I’m materialistic. I can’t ignore the “actual” in-game material/use of a block. I can’t use coral for stone for example. Even a smooth stone block in a stone brick wall is too far for me. A stone brick wall shouldn’t have a random boulder in it, only bricks.
I’m ok with builds looking a little more bland as a consequence, because that is just how Minecraft looks. A textured building just looks out of place in the surrounding, materially grounded, Minecraft world.

Discussion Mojang dies on weird hills
They did not add the firefly mob like they promised because apparently they are poisonous to frogs so it wouldn't be scientifically accurate to add... Yet they made it so pufferfish can be used to feed nautilus when in real life pufferfish are poisonous to the nautilus.
They added lush caves which is biologically impossible for plants to grow in a cave with no natural sunlight.
They added poplar trees which leaves are always orange. A tree that doesnt have chrolophyll cant produce food so thats also not scientifically accurate.
Yet they put their foot down on frogs eating fireflies?
Edit: Dont even get me started on the bees.

Discussion Alright, "Frozen Zombie" sucks, let's come up with an actual name for this guy
We have the drowned, the husk, and the zombie. All of them are named after something about the transformation into what they are now (The drowned drowned, the zombie zombified, the husk is a husk of their former selves). What is this guy's name?
Edit: After seeing everyone's thoughts, here are mine. I know that they call it the frozen during the live, but I don't think it's that good a name. It doesn't roll off the tongue that well, and it's pretty uncreative. It starts with that "oh" sound that's a lot "harder" than back of the mouth vowels like "ah", "uh", and "ow".
My personal favorites do far are: The frostbitten, the frigid, the frosted, the thawed, the brisk, and the chilled.

Discussion Was KILLING the Mob Vote the Right Move? 🗳️
Looking at how people react to new updates now, it made me think about why Mojang completely stopped doing Mob Votes
Back then, losing mobs forever like the Iceologer created huge drama in the community. Now that they just reveal mobs directly, do you think the community is better off, or do you miss voting?
Let me know what you think about this in the comments 👇
