Preservation & Real Estate If you don't mind the cold..
Minus the strange reno in one of the bathrooms, and the grey replacement flooring, we have a perfect gem.

Hi all! I spent the last 2 weeks thoughtfully observing the sub and crafting these rules, yes - with a bit of help from ChatGPT as a sounding board which I’ve disclosed per the new rule #6… on mobile they’re under “About” and desktop on right sidebar. Would love constructive reactions/dialogue around the decisions made.
Let’s treat this as version 1 and I will incorporate feedback over time. Thrilled to see users already following the rules and want to see more and more reports from the community to keep our focus on MCM. Thank you all for making this the top MCM sub, growing everyday - almost at 200k strong!
After receiving feedback I plan to do a brief video intro with more context on these decisions and plans for MCM expert AMAs and beyond.

As the title says, found these (for $6.99 a piece!) at my local Savers today. I couldn’t find any exact matches online, but I thought that the folks here might appreciate them

I recently picked up this lamp at a thrift shop and was curious if anyone knows what the original shade would have looked like.

My wife bought a table a while back and we have no spot for it in our house anymore. We are looking to list it but would like to nail down what type of table and how much they typically go for. Very few markings other than “Walter of Wabash.” Which we have found is the sliding mechanism creator.

Found this in my aunts house that has a ton of identifiable Mcm but this piece I can’t figure it out. Looks brutalist in nature, thanks in advance!

From what I’m finding online, it’s pointing to Conant Ball produced in March of 1986. I picked this up today for free off of FB marketplace and am trying to decide what to do with it. I’m leaning towards keeping it but would like to know what I have. Any advice or input is greatly appreciated. The dimensions are 49x30x18.

I got this side table for free with a D-Scan bed frame. I was shocked at how heavy this bad boy is.
Side bar, how careful are we with putting plants on bentwood tables?

Hi everyone,
I’m trying to purchase a pre owned Noguchi coffee table with walnut bottom.
Could anyone be kind enough to potentially authenticate the piece? From the early 2000s. No Noguchi etching or other HM sticker/branding.
Seller confirmed 3/4 inch glass weighing 120 pounds.
I can get additional pictures but will go see it in person as well. Anything I should be looking for specifically?
Someone mentioned the edges on the legs aren’t round enough so I wanted to some more opinion.
Any input would be greatly appreciated!

I haven’t seen them in person and I only have these pictures. They were my husbands grandmothers but she recently passed away and they were offered to us and we agreed to take them. There’s some wear to the top of the nightstand that I can see but don’t want to ruin them - how do we go about touching them up or maintaining them ? I know nothing about them in all transparency.

I have 4 of these mugs that I got off somebody. They seem to be of medium weight, have the right look, and have the proper Japan stamp on the bottom that does not look machine done. The very bottom edge is unglazed. The pattern/print looks pretty much the right style but it almost seems too nice looking for the age I would think they'd be... I'm wondering if there's a way you can tell for sure as the person selling them to me didn't necessarily say they were old.

So glad to still have this family treasure.
Asked my dad about it and he shared, “It was purchased from Blackmarr's furniture in Boulder [CO]. Dad bought it on store credit, and went by and paid a couple dollars each week at the store until it was paid off. The store burned down in the late 60s.”
Photos show a floor lamp with three lights. The switch has three options- one, two or three lights on.

I acquired this beautiful chair a few days ago from a person who didn’t want it anymore and then i was told from my sister, an interior design, that it is a very special, iconic piece of furniture. I did my own investigation, and all the signs indicate it is the real deal. If anybody has any expertise in these sort of things, I am uploading a few pictures below. Any feedback is very much appreciated.
Thank you.

Bought this house and we’re doing birch floors where all the pink carpet is. I’m stumped on what type of flooring to get in the kitchen/entryway to replace the old ceramic tiles (they’re cracked and look worn throughout).
What would look good and works in an entryway AND a kitchen (they’re connected) AND next to the birch floors
Any and all ideas welcome!
ETA: We don’t have a huge budget and I think I want something interesting/unique/creative but also low key and easy to decorate around. Eventually we’ll rip out the kitchen and redo it but for now we’re focusing on floors!

It's a 6 layer bentwood coffee table with brass tension rods and all other hardware on it is solid brass with a beautiful patina if anyone is familiar with design

I inherited this fabulous stereo cabinet from my parents. It’s a Telefunken from 1963. I’ve taken it to a local audio expert and it cannot be repaired, as the parts are no longer available. I’m not a professional, nor do I know much about audio systems. My options are:
1. Leave it as is, non-functional; a conversation piece and no more
2. Gut it and add new stereo equipment that likely won’t fit exactly in the old space
3. Gut it and turn it into a small cabinet
Thoughts and advice welcome! It has a lot of sentimental value to me.

I’m going for a blue/green color to match the light (pictured next to a samplize sticker) and floor (terrazo LVP).
Any design suggestions welcome. 🙏

Trying to bring back the MCM vibe of this ranch but I cant seem to visualize this living room as one wall is a picture window another is a fireplace, and behind leads to other rooms. Posting inspo for the general vibe. I get materials but actual furniture layout is hard!

We live in a new build but I’m slowly introducing some MCM/Bauhaus/Space Age elements to the home to balance out the Scandinavian and Japandi elements.
What type of wall art would fit into the MCM theme considering that y = 5 metres (16,4”) and x = 2 metres (6,5”).
