The suspect, who wounded four people by randomly firing a gun in Kastamonu, was apprehended and taken into custody following police efforts.

The incident took place on Belediye Street in the Hepkebirler neighborhood. According to reports, the attacker, identified as Y.İ.Ç., ran onto the street carrying a shotgun and began firing indiscriminately. Stray pellets struck four people in the area. After the incident, Y.İ.Ç. fled the scene and escaped in a car waiting nearby. The four injured victims were taken to Kastamonu Training and Research Hospital after receiving initial treatment from medical teams.

The 16-year-old boy who killed three children and a teacher, injuring two other people, at a school in Bend, Oregon, was assaulted twice in recent years, once while he was trying to defend his mother, police records show.

In one incident, he told his sister he had been bullied at school, according to police, who wrote that he “likely had a cognitive disability.”

Griffin John II opened fire on a special-needs classroom at Silver Rail Elementary School on Oct. 15 before he was killed by a man who has two daughters at the school.

Much about John remains unknown, and law enforcement is still investigating him and any potential motive. But the police reports show he experienced violence at a young age.

Court and police records previously obtained by NBC News detailed a tumultuous home life, with both parents being involved in violent encounters and run-ins with law enforcement, as well as financial instability.

At age 11, his sister’s friend assaulted him at his home, according to allegations in a Bend police report first obtained by NBC affiliate KGW.

John’s mother, Shauntai Nickerson, told police in the 2022 incident that the friend “slapped John across the face, causing him to chip a tooth,” according to the report. The friend also “punched John in the back of the head,” according to the report.

Nickerson told police that John “had special needs,” and the officer wrote that it appeared he had a cognitive disability, given his “non verbal speech communication and speech patterns.”

John told the officer that after he came home, his sister’s friend asked him whether he wanted to fight and then slapped him, chipping his tooth, according to the report. The officer noticed a small chip on one of John’s lower front teeth, according to the report. John then said the friend “punched him in the back of the head 4 to 6 times,” it said.

John’s sister told the officer that when she got home earlier, John was upset and crying because, he said, he was being bullied at school.

“John expressed concerns about reporting the bullying at school because his mom would get upset,” the officer wrote.

The officer said that he tried to contact the friend but that all of the numbers associated with the friend were disconnected or no longer in service. Another officer later went to the home and was also unable to speak with the friend, according to the report.

A little more than three years later, in 2025, John was punched multiple times by a man Nickerson had a relationship with, according to a Bend police report. The man fled when Nickerson called 911, she told police.

Nickerson said she had been arguing with the man about his involvement with other women when she placed all of his belongings outside her apartment. The man then came to the apartment, banged on the front door and eventually forced himself inside, according to the police report.

John told police that the man threatened to beat him and his mother up, according to the police report.

The domestic dispute turned physical when, John said, he tried to stand up for his mother as the man refused to leave the apartment, Nickerson told police.

The man “began to get violent, and I didn’t want him to hurt my mom at all,” John told police.

John said that he told the man he needed to leave and that the man shoved him twice, which made him drop his phone. When John went to pick up his phone, the man “bodyslammed” him to the ground, wrapping his arm around his head and neck, according to the report.

The man then punched John in the head about 12 to 14 times, John told the officer. The man left after he learned police would be on their way, according to the report.

Nickerson and John ultimately decided they did not want to cooperate in an investigation and pursue charges, saying the matter had been resolved, according to the report.

On the evening of May 23, 2014, multiple misogynistic terrorist attacks occurred in Isla Vista, California, United States. 22-year-old Elliot Rodger murdered six people and injured 14 others by gunshot, stabbing, and vehicle ramming near the campus of the University of California, Santa Barbara (UCSB), before fatally shooting himself.

CANTON, Ga. — Three people have been arrested in connection with an alleged plot to carry out a shooting at Cherokee High School, according to the Canton Police Department.

Authorities said they have identified no known ongoing threat to the high school or any other Cherokee County school. Investigators collected firearms, ammunition, and electronic devices as evidence, police said.

The investigation began after the FBI identified threatening social media posts and alerted Cherokee County School District Police. School district police contacted Canton police on Oct. 19, prompting Canton detectives to open an investigation.

Detectives identified a juvenile Canton resident connected to the threats and arrested the juvenile Oct. 20 on charges of conspiracy to commit murder and disruption or interference with the operation of public schools.

Police are withholding the juvenile's identity.

Investigators subsequently identified two additional suspects, and a Cherokee County magistrate issued arrest warrants for both Oct. 22.

Shane Keith Taylor, 17, of Metter, Ga., was arrested in his hometown Oct. 23. He was charged with conspiracy to commit murder and taken to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center.

Michael Brandon Terry, 21, of Chatsworth, California, was arrested the same day in California by the FBI and Los Angeles Police Department. He also faces a charge of conspiracy to commit murder and is awaiting transport to the Cherokee County Adult Detention Center, police said.

The investigation remains active. Police said they are withholding certain details, including information about the evidence and the juvenile's identity, to protect the investigation and comply with legal requirements.

These are some notable school attacks that occurred in Europe that aren’t commonly known.

Sofia Shooting -
On December 25th, 1974 a 17 year old male entered block No.1 of Studenski Grad in Sofia, Bulgaria armed with a pistol and a knife. In Room 519 three people were celebrating a birthday, for a person whom the attacker reportedly disliked, the attacker entered the room and opened fire, killing multiple people. Following this, the attacker began firing at people in the hallways, stabbing those he had brought down with the gun. He then fired into rooms, in one of which he killed a pregnant woman and her partner. Two students, Imet North and Stoyan Agov, attempted to overpower the attacker, but were severely wounded in the process, with Agov later dying from his wounds. Eventually the attacker was subdued by another student, Atanas Nachev, where he claimed he was a special agent on a secret mission, and that there was another attacker in the building. Nachev was able to restrain him until the police arrived. The attacker was deemed mentally unfit to stand trial, and was sentenced to indefinite rehabilitation in a mental hospital. In total, 8 people were killed, and 8 people were wounded. The next year, while being escorted by police officers to a psychiatric hospital, the attacker attempted to escape, and was fatally shot by the officers.

Cologne School Massacre -
On June 11th 1964 a 42 year old man entered the Catholic elementary school in the suburb of Volkhoven in Cologne, Germany, holding a flamethrower, a spear and a mace, all self-made. As he entered the compound, three crossing guards mistook him for a mechanic and questioned his intentions. The attacker ignored them, blocked the gate with a wooden wedge, and proceeded to enter the school and headed towards a girl’s physical education class. The teacher, Anna Langohr, who knew the attacker, approached and asked if she could help him, where the attacker ignited his flamethrower, attacking the teacher and students. He then continued towards the school’s barracks, smashed the windows with the mace, and released fire upon the children in the classrooms until his weapon ran out of fuel. He then stabbed a teacher in the courtyard with the spear, killing her, and then attacked two other teachers as they attempted to hold doors shut, killing one of them after managing to force open a door. Following this the attacker fled the scene and swallowed poisonous insecticide in a suicide attempt, but it was diluted and did not kill him immediately. The attacker was chased by a large number of people, where he kept them back with his spear, and eventually he was wounded by police gunfire and arrested. The suspect would die from the poison hours later. 8 students died as well as the two teachers in the attack.

Dendermonde nursery attack -
On January 23rd 2009 a 20 year old man entered the Het Fabeltjesland daycare center in Sint-Gillis-bij-Dendermonde, Belgium armed with three kitchen knives and a hatchet. Prior to this, the attacker planned extensively to become a serial killer, creating a fake inspection company and identity. He attempted to murder a family on the 12th January, but they were not home. On 16th January the perpetrator murdered a woman inside of her home using the inspector tactic. He then decided to attack several daycare centres, instead of families in their homes. On the day of the attack, he first approached a daycare center at a different location, but was put off by the presence of workers outside. After travelling to Het Fabeltjesland the entered the building but was unable to find anybody in the immediate area and considered abandoning the building, but the doors that he entered through did not reopen, so he moved to a different part of the building where he encountered Rita Van Geyte, a worker. He attacked her, where they fought, and after the attacker stabbed her he proceeded to attack another woman nearby, killing her. He then stabbed the first worker once more, and pursued her to a storage closet where two other workers hid inside. One of the workers attacked the perpetrator with a duster, but the perpetrator overpowered her and stabbed her repeatedly. He then targeted children nearby, first murdering a toddler, then severely injuring a baby in a crib, then stabbing three more toddlers, killing one. The end of the knife he was using broke off during the violent attack on the toddlers. Van Geyte was able to pick up one of the toddlers and barricaded herself from the attacker, after which he returned to the previous spot and was noticed by two workers who were with 10 children on the outside back terrace. The attacker quickly targeted the children, wounding six as they attempted to escape. Following this, he fled the scene, and was captured one hour later while reportedly moving towards another daycare center, where it is suspected he was planning a second attack. The attacker first faked psychosis before admitting he had a general hatred for humanity, and he was sentenced to life imprisonment. Two children and one adult died at the school, and 12 were injured, as well as the lady killed prior to the school attack. The daycare center never reopened.

Gulbene kindergarten massacre -
On February 22nd 1999 a 19 year old man attacked a kindergarten in Gulbene, Latvia, armed with a meat cleaver and a knife. In the days leading up to the 22nd, the perpetrator had enquired about the kindergarten’s security measures, raising suspicion amongst the staff. During the midday napping period the perpetrator entered the kindergarten and began attacking the sleeping children and teachers with the knife and cleaver. Not much is deceived about the details of the event, but three children and one teacher were killed, receiving a total of 39 wounds. A nurse present in the room was injured while attempting to intervene, ultimately surviving. The perpetrator was arrested immediately after the attack as he attempted to flee the area, and was later sentenced to life imprisonment. He stated that the goal of the attack was to gain notoriety, and admitted to planning the attack in advance (to note, this attack occurred almost two months before the Columbine massacre). This was the most recent mass murder in Latvia.

Ansbach school attack -
On September 17th 2009 an 18 year old student attacked the Gymnasium Carolinum secondary school in Ansbach, Germany using Molotov cocktails, an axe and knives. The perpetrator had prepared the attack for months prior, creating a will and planning a date for the attack, which was delayed by one day after having difficulties preparing the Molotov cocktails. He entered the school around 8:30am and threw one of the incendiary devices into an eleventh grade classroom. He attacked a fleeing student with the axe, critically injuring them, before throwing another Molotov into a ninth grade classroom across the hall. One student sustained severe burns, while eleven other students and two teachers received lighter injuries. Following this, the attacker locked himself inside of a bathroom stall as police arrived at the scene. When police found the perpetrator he threatened them with a knife, and the police opened fire, severely injuring him. 13 students and two teachers were injured in the attack, nobody was killed. The perpetrator claimed to feel unfairly treated, was worried about failing an upcoming exam and was upset about not having a girlfriend, intending to die in the attack, and wanted to kill as many people as possible before being killed by responding police. The perpetrator was sentenced to 9 years of juvenile detention, and then further confined indefinitely to a psychiatric clinic. In August 2025 he was able to escape the clinic he was being held at, and fled to South America, but he was caught and arrested a month later.

Gîsca school bombing -
On April 4th 1950 a 29 year old man entered School No. 20 of Gîsca, in the Moldavian Soviet Socialist Republic (now Moldova), carrying a suitcase with 12 kilograms of explosives. He had stolen the explosives from his workplace at DOSARM (Voluntary Society of Assistance to the Army). In 1941 the perpetrator was dispatched to fight in the war against Nazi Germany as part of the 3rd Guards Motorized Rifle Regiment, fighting from the beginning to the end of the war. Following this he gained employment at DOSARM, as well as school N°20 as a teacher. He got into a relationship with a woman who was also a teacher at the school, but they separated after he learned she already had a family in Kazan, and he grew resentment for her. After stealing the explosives, the man entered the school to where the woman was teaching a classroom of children. He reportedly told the children to leave, but moments later the explosives detonated, killing the perpetrator, his target, one other teacher and 21 children. This remains the only school massacre in Moldova.

Bremen school shooting -
On June 20th 1913 a 29 year old man opened fire indiscriminately at students at teachers inside of St Mary's Catholic School in Walle, a district of Bremen Germany. The perpetrator worked as a teacher at a school in Stolp until 1912, where he quit after a mental breakdown. After losing another job the same year he moved to Bremen. In letters he wrote he described how he felt resentment for the Jesuits, feeling they were responsible for his father’s death the day before the shooting. Several weeks before the shooting the perpetrator bought numerous guns, which caused the owner of the gun store to contact the police, however the police deemed the incident non-important. At around 11am the perpetrator entered the school carrying a briefcase with between 6-10 pistols and encountered a teacher in the hallway. After being questioned about his intentions, the perpetrator shot at her, barely missing her. He then entered a classroom which was occupied by 65 female students and opened fire. Here he killed 2 children and injured a further 15, then followed those who fled the classroom. While trying to escape, one of the girls fell down a set of stairs, broke her neck, and died. The attacker then tried to enter another classroom, but it had been locked by a teacher inside. The school janitor attempted to apprehend him, but was shot in the face non fatally. Soon after he was tackled by Hubert Möllmann, a teacher, but he was able to break free and shoot the teacher. He then opened fire through a window at children in the schoolyard, injuring 5 students, as well as a worker nearby. The janitor earlier shot in the face, named only at Butz, assisted by a teacher named Hartlage was then able to successfully subdue the shooter, and police led him outside. They were met by an angry crowd, who attempted to lynch the shooter, but police kept them back with their sabres. 5 people were killed in total, all being girls from the classroom. The shooter was ruled not mentally competent to stand trial, and remained at the St Jürgen asylum in Ellen until he died in 1932.

Eppstein school shooting -
On June 3rd 1983 a 34 year old man attacked the Freiherr-vom-Stein Gesamtschule (secondary school) in Eppstein-Vockenhausen, Hesse, Germany with two semi-automatic pistols. The perpetrator had several occupations leading up to the shooting, including working security, and was apparently trying to get a job as a teacher. He was arrested in 1976 for loosening the nuts on car wheels, no motive is known for this. He was known to be very reserved, and was increasingly aggressive leading up to the attack. Early in the morning of the attack the perpetrator rented a vehicle and supposedly drove around the area looking for an occupied school (many were closed due to a holiday). It is by chance that the perpetrator ended up at the Freiherr-vom-Stein Gesamtschule. He entered the school and made his way to a classroom, where a sixth grade English class was underway, and fired at the teacher, missing him. After retreating and reentering the teacher begged him to spare the children and only kill him. The attacker shot the teacher, then opened fire on the children, killing three of them and wounding thirteen, four critically. Another teacher then ran into the classroom in response to the shots, but was shot and killed, as well as an unarmed police officer who was at the school instructing students on traffic safety. Police who responded attempted to calm the shooter down, but this had no effect, as the shooter continued to shoot. Eventually, the perpetrator entered a classroom opposite to where the shooting had occurred, and took his own life. 5 people were killed, the three children and the teacher and officer who rushed to help, the teacher who was shot first survived.

1977 Leningrad shooting -
On May 19th 1977 a shooting took place at the Higher Political School of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the USSR in Leningrad, Russian SFSR, Soviet Union, committed by a second year cadet at the school presumably in his early 20s. The perpetrator had reportedly developed grievances against several cadets, and was intended to target specific people during the shooting. On the night of the attack the shooter was serving in the guard detail at the school, he asked for permission to take his automatic rifle from the weapons room, claiming that he wanted to clean it after it got wet from rain water. Once he obtained the rifle he loaded it and then opened fire on the guard personnel. He shot multiple people, including Sergey Mostakov, who was wounded and lost consciousness. The shooter continued firing upon members of the guard detail, killing several. Mostakov regained consciousness and took a weapon from the weapons rack in order to fight back, but was shot again. When approached by the attacker, Mostakov, still alive, was able to shoot the perpetrator, wounding him and ending the attack. 6 people were killed in the attack, including Mostakov, who died days later. The perpetrator survived his injuries, and was sentenced to death, and was executed by shooting in February 1979. There was very little discussion about the shooting at the time, and one account states that its author first encountered a public mention of the shooting almost 40 years after it occurred.

Two 14-year-olds have been arrested in Tbilisi on suspicion of planning an attack on a school and acts of violence against pupils. They attend different schools and communicated with each other through social media.

According to the prosecutor’s office, the teenagers had already chosen a specific school and planned their actions.

The Georgian outlet Sando Tskaro was the first to report the teenagers’ arrests. According to its report, police detained 14-year-old S.T. on the afternoon of Thursday, 22 October.

The following day, 23 October, police arrested the second teenager at his home. The first suspect exercised his right to remain silent, while the second denies the charges against him.

Police searched both teenagers’ homes. They seized a number of items, including a starter pistol, ammunition, pepper spray, gloves, a helmet and a knife.

The father of the first suspect, S.T., told Sando Tskaro that he did not know who the teenager was with whom his son had allegedly planned to commit the crime.

According to the father, the teenagers communicated through video calls on Telegram and TikTok.

He said they had discussed the 2011 terrorist attacks in Oslo. They had also talked about films based on real events that depicted acts of violence.

The prosecutor’s office has largely confirmed this account. It issued an official statement only after the information had already appeared in the media.

According to the statement, the teenagers met in April and May 2026. They chose a specific school in Tbilisi, studied its layout and began preparing an attack.

The prosecutor’s office says the teenagers planned to place a dummy explosive device outside the school. This would have allowed them to enter the building undetected, cause a disturbance and use weapons to injure people inside.

“They acquired various items and created all the necessary conditions to commit the crime. However, they failed to carry out their plan because law enforcement officers uncovered their activities,” the prosecutor’s office said.

The 13 year old named Daniel, who attacked the Staškov elementary school and killed 2 and injured 1, was most likely inspired by homophobia and previous homophobic killers. He wore a shirt that read "Natural Selection" a reference to the Columbine shooting. On his knife sheath he had written down the date of the Bratislava shooting.

In his diary he further specifies that he was inspired by Omar Mateen, Juraj Krajčík and Samuel Straško, another Slovakian school stabber. He also wrote down a kill list of 5 people.

On October 24, 2015, Adacia Chambers, a fast food worker, would drive to the OSU homecoming parade, go around the barriers blocking the streets and plow her car into the parade, initially killing 3 people and injuring 47 others. Many paradegoers would fly in the air many lost limbs. The three that died were a married retired couple, Marvin and Bonnie Stone, Both 65, and 23-year-old transfer student, Nikita Nakal. The paradegoers were airlifted to the hospital many in critical condition. One paradegoer sadly succumbed to his wounds; 2-year-old Nash Lucas.

Adacia was placed under arrest under suspicion of drunk driving, and charged with 4-counts of second degree murder. Adacia took a blood alcohol test where she was found to have not been drunk. Initially going to trial, Adacia plead guilty and was sentenced to life imprisonment. To this day, Adacia‘s motive has remained unknown. She has given vague hints, but nothing conclusive has been ruled as to why she murdered Marvin, Bonnie, Nikita, and Nash.

The act remains one of the worst incidents of mass violence in modern Oklahoma history and one of the worst vehicle ramming attacks in United States history.

Min Yongjun was born in 1976. His mother, Zou Qingxiu, was a primary school teacher, and his father was Min Zheng’an.

According to his parents, he was a normal child until the age of 16. One night after dinner he suddenly began having violent convulsions. He was taken to the hospital and diagnosed with epilepsy. His father later said that, outside of his seizures, Min behaved normally, but during episodes he could become aggressive.

Ashamed of his condition, Min dropped out of school. In 1992 he went to Beijing and attended a technical school to learn how to repair televisions. In 2002 he opened a TV repair shop in Zhengzhou.

By 2004 his mother had become increasingly worried about his frequent seizures and asked him to move back home.

She described him as lazy, he would occasionally repair neighbors TVs but mostly spent his time resting in the yard or reading books about his illness. Min was deeply frustrated that his epilepsy had no cure. He repeatedly told his mother how disappointed he was and spent roughly 100,000 yuan over the years visiting different hospitals in unsuccessful attempts to find a treatment.

Little is known about his wife and daughters. His wife was often away working in other cities, while their two daughters (the older one about 10 years old and the younger around 2) lived with Min’s parents.

From 2010 onward his condition worsened. The seizures became more frequent, going from once a year, to every few months, and eventually almost every month as he grew more aggressive.

In the winter of 2011 he got into a verbal argument with a shop owner and ended up attacking him, seriously injuring his head. His family had to pay 10,000 yuan in compensation.

In another incident that same year, while at a hospital appointment, he became aggressive, smashed a fire alarm, and was thrown out. His father often locked him in a room when these aggressive episodes occurred.

On the night of December 13, 2012, Min had another seizure. His two-year-old daughter tried to play with him; he grabbed her and attempted to slam her to the floor, but his mother intervened. He was locked in a room again. Hours later he said he needed to use the toilet. His parents let him out, and he immediately ran away.

He ran approximately 10 kilometers through heavy rain and became completely soaked. On the morning of December 14 he arrived at the house of 84-year-old Xiang Jiaying. He asked to come inside to warm up and for firewood, but she refused. He then grabbed a kitchen knife from her house and attacked her. Believing he had killed her, he went to Chenpeng Village Primary School.

There he began attacking children at the entrance and then entered the building. During the attack he later admitted he had considered throwing some children from upper floors, but the thought of his own young daughter stopped him. He was eventually subdued by villagers and arrested.

In his confession, Min said his motive was a mixture of a desire for notoriety and belief in the 2012 doomsday phenomenon.

He had listened to a 61-year-old local woman named Jin Guozhu, who had been spreading end of the world rumors in the area and other villages for more than a decade (some villagers said she had been doing so for over ten years). Around the same time the Eastern Lightning cult was also actively preaching that the world would end.

Inspired by news reports of a series of school attacks that had occurred in 2010, he decided to carry out a similar attack so that “everyone would know who he was” before the world ended.

On December 13, 2013, he was sentenced to death. On November 9, 2015, the sentence was changed to death with a two-year reprieve after the court determined he had limited criminal responsibility due to his mental condition.
