because I miss the fuck out of this show, our friends, the comradery. and discussion. it's one of the great tragedies of television we never received even a hint of an ending. and we tried out darndest to save it.

it's still legitimately one of my favourites series ever , and I recommend it any chance I get, but I have no idea where it streams and the dvds are non existent.

I just want to hang out with my ramshackle group of outsiders interested in the esoteric and the absurd again !

Oh, you mean Gary?

Iron ware bowl. We paid $4.

My wife found this for me at a yard sale. What a bargain!

I don’t know if Small Prophets has been mentioned here before, but with its recent release on Apple TV, I thought it was worth sharing the trailer.

It's a British series from Mackenzie Crook, the creator of Detectorists. The story follows a man whose partner disappeared seven years ago. His life has pretty much stood still ever since, until his father introduces him to an ancient alchemical recipe for creating tiny beings that might be able to tell him what happened to her.

Beyond the obvious connection to alchemy, what really reminds me of Lodge 49 is the combination of eccentric characters, everyday struggles, understated humour, and a sense that there's something mysterious just beneath the surface of ordinary life. Both seem interested in people who've lost their way and are searching for something to give their lives meaning again.

It looks like a different kind of show, but there's something about its tone and atmosphere that feels very familiar. I suspect quite a few Lynx will enjoy it.

Anyone watching Small Prophets on Apple TV? It has alchemy vibes.

You gotta hand it to Paul Giamatti — voting for Lodge 49 — and also for selecting his favorite shows, NONE of which made it into the top 100 NYT TV Shows of the 21st Century. It all depends on whose votes you're counting!

And then I find this relic.

I’m starting a re-watch today and I feel like Lodge 49 somehow shares a universe with Backrooms

Has anyone seen Gavin’s other work that they can recommend?

'Find yourself a good therapist and just keep hanging on...Cos with the right type of support, you'll get to a place where you're really just too tired to care about anything'.

Jeremy, Champ and Gerson were all such good characters!

Hey, y'all. I searched and it looks like this hasn't been posted here yet. Lodge 49 is now streaming free on the Roku Channel. My housemate and I are finishing up S1.

And now that it's free, way easier to recommend to friends!

In the dumpling eating contest scene, he is never in focus to get a good screenshot but it's the same guy, no? Now add to this the mystery of Janet's pilot disappearing, leading Lamar to try to fly the jet himself. Was the pilot arrested too? If so, why did Tarquinn tell Dud and gang to meet up with the pilot? Idk if planes have locks or keys, but how did they not only get into the jet but started the engines?

Obviously the FBI would be tipped off once Janet uses her company card to book the rooms at the Hotel Grenada, so them tracking her in Guadalajara makes sense. But there are so many things about this episode that don't... I NEED seasons 3 and 4. It doesn't matter how long it's been since the show's cancellation

I found it here.

Widow’s Bay felt tonally similar in so many ways. The humor, the characters and their unlikely bonds, the mythology, the emergence of magic and unraveling of mystery amidst an otherwise mundane existence, and the *hope*.

What went wrong to send a show like Lodge 49 to its early grave? I can’t help but feel it was inadequate marketing. Or maybe it was just before its time, with shows like Widow’s Bay now finding their way into the cultural zeitgeist.

No matter the answer, the story of Lodge 49 needs finishing. Maybe someday? We can only hope.

I got a tattoo of Dud’s car a few months ago and wanted to share

Got Jersey Mike's the other day and forgot to throw out the bag it came in. I've had it sitting on the kitchen counter for a few days and had pretty much forgotten it until tonight when it caught my eye.

Is it just me or does that wrapper say "As Above"? Is Jersey Mikes run by alchemists?
