LineageOS 24.0 PIN Loop (Lynx)
I have been trying to keep LineageOS updated all day. I was not receiving OTA updates and had to perform them manually. Sat down to do that today. Successfully sideloaded OS 24 but during the setup, I got stuck in the PIN loop.
I researched and felt that maybe I needed to update to Android 17 first. I did that and then sideloaded OS 24 again. I'm still stuck in the PIN loop.
Any tips?

Question How to harden and degoogle your lineageos?
While looking at posts here I saw this https://www.reddit.com/r/LineageOS/comments/1q5242t/psa_your_degoogle_lineageos_build_is_still/ is there anything else you can do to improve your security and privacy?
There is a guide to build your own lineageos in the site. I dont know how it really works but is it possible to build your own lineageos and make it like grapheneos?

Help (Stuck here) adb sideload connection failed: no devices found
Hi all
So on the “Installing LineageOS from Recovery” step and I can’t seem to get past it.
I downloaded the LineageOS zip file and dragged it into the platform tools folder.
Next I did was type in the command “adb -d sideload”, then I pressed the spacebar. Then I dragged the LineageOS zip file from the platform tools folder into the command window in order to copy the file name and hit enter.
Here is the error that I keep encountering:
adb: sideload connection failed: no devices found
adb: trying pre-KitKat sideload method
adb: pre-KitKat sideload connection failed: no devices found
What could I be doing wrong? How should I troubleshoot this? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!
EDIT: I was able to get through it and flash LineageOS without the GApps. I just needed to repeat the last few steps after unplugging and replugging the usb cable. Only problem now is installing The Mic G. lol
EDIT 2: Mickey-G now works!

how does it work? Why is it like that ? ; Ignorant newbie asks
Hi, very new to custom android roms/os but looking to get into it. I would like to revive an old LG G6, before maybe getting to lineage os on my current phone that is now out software updates (A52s 5G).
It is mainly the "build" step of installing Lineage that baffles me. Why do we have to do that exactly ? It is the first time I encounter this sort of requirement on any device that I changed the OS of. On pc, mac, linux, even an ipod I never had to do that. What is my ignorant a*s missing here?
Also why are the hardware requirements so goddamn high ? 32GB of RAM isn't exactly puny in my book, yet it is half of what I'd need, and I don't exactly have 300GB to spare *permanently* either...
Thank in advance,

Question S20 FE volume percentage
Hi guys, I love the Lineage on S20FE, but I definitely hate AOSP for not having a percentage on the volume bar. Is there a way to add it? I read there's a Magisk module but maybe there's a simpler solution.
If Magisk is the only solution, can I flash it on my running ROM without a clean install (factory reset)?
Thanks in advance

OnePlus 6T (fajita) – Lineage Recovery won't boot, always falls back to fastboot. Phone's not bricked, but stuck. What am I missing?
Hi all, I'm installing LineageOS 22.2 on my OnePlus 6T following the official wiki guide (fajita, variant1) and I'm stuck at the recovery step. Any suggestions would be appreciated.
Setup
- Device: OnePlus 6T, not T-Mobile
- Starting firmware: OxygenOS 11.1.2.2 (Android 11)
- I'm using a MacBook Air M4
What I've done so far
Enabled USB debugging + OEM unlocking, adb authorized fine.
`fastboot oem unlock` → OKAY, confirmed on the phone, wiped, booted OxygenOS, set up again, re-enabled USB debugging.
`fastboot oem device-info` → Device unlocked: true, Device critical unlocked: false, Verity mode: true.
`fastboot flash dtbo dtbo.img` → OKAY, then `fastboot reboot bootloader`.
`fastboot flash boot boot.img` → wrote to boot_a, OKAY.
`fastboot reboot recovery` → OKAY. The phone restarts, shows the unlocked-bootloader warning, then lands back on the fastboot menu instead of Lineage Recovery.
`fastboot boot boot.img` → OKAY, same result: warning screen, then back to fastboot.
The wiki only lists dtbo under "Flashing additional partitions", but since vbmeta.img is in the build, I tried `fastboot flash vbmeta vbmeta.img` → OKAY. No change.
Re-flashed vbmeta, dtbo and boot again (all OKAY), then `fastboot reboot recovery` → still fastboot.
The issue is, in the fastboot menu the volume keys don't navigate the menu (START never changes), with or without USB connected, although the buttons feel and click normally. I haven't tried the Volume Down + Power key combo from powered off yet, cause the Volume Down key is a bit iffy, a little loose.
- Is there a known reason Lineage Recovery on fajita (22.2) would hand back to fastboot like this?
- Should vbmeta.img be flashed on fajita, and if so, with any flags?
- Could a faulty or phantom volume key press be forcing fastboot on every boot? Is there a way to check?
Thanks in advance!

Question How much better is navigation on LineageOS compared to Android?
Navigation on Android is disorienting and stressful. Settings, app settings, files, photos, messages to an extent, and the camera in particular.
Also, how much better is the performance of the photos app on LineageOS? The photos app on Android has annoying performance issues.
One more question: How much better is the performance of Firefox or websites accessed through Firefox on LineageOS compared to Android?

Aptx Lossless/Adaptive support?
I just installed LOS 24 on my old Moto Edge 30 Fusion. On stock ROM I had support for Aptx Adaptive/Lossless with my Sennheiser Momentum 4 TW earbuds, and now the highest quality codec I can select is just standard Aptx (the earbuds don't support Aptx HD).
I have checked developers options, with HD toggle not activated it just has the SBC codec, with it activated I get AAC, SBC and Aptx, but no Lossless or Adaptive option. I can switch between 44.1kHz and 48kHz but only able to select 16bit, the other options are greyed out.
To check that it isn't just a display option and a better codec isn't being used anyway, I installed the Sennheiser SmartControlPlus app, which reports, as expected, that the codec being used is the standard Aptx
Anyone had any luck with getting Aptx Lossless or Adaptive to work? Can't find anything helpful here or searching, mainly just people asking if it's possible to get Aptx HD working on various devices - I was going to use the old Moto as a media player, but there's not a lot of point using it to play FLACs at such low quality...!

Are the stock os apps good?
Just installed Lineage and I was wondering if the stock apps that come with the OS are any good or should I replace them with other FOSS alternatives?

Help Etar calendar doesn't show shared google calendars
I'm a happy LineageOS user since this March (a52sxq, Android 16). Big thanks to developers / maintainers!
My Family is dependent on google calendar sharing what worked perfectly in LineageOS 23.2 But when I upgraded to 24.0 the new Etar calendar only displays my google calendar and states the other are "Not synchronised". So I had to fall back to google calendar app.
It would be good to have the Etar calendar with the functionaly what was present in previous app (com.android.calendar).

"Unlocked" Motorola phone
I intend to install LineageOS on my Moto G7 Plus (Lake), a now 7 year old phone. I am reading the install directions here: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/lake/
This was an "unlocked" phone (when purchased) so I assume that I can skip the section on "unlocking the bootloader"??: https://wiki.lineageos.org/devices/lake/install/#unlocking-the-bootloader
Any help greatly appreciated....

LineageOS Desktop 24.0 – Design concept for an open-source Android desktop experience (tablets + ARM64 + optional x64)
Hello everyone!
Yesterday I posted a rushed and poorly written summary of this project (it was AI-generated and it showed). Sorry about that.
i’ve now properly rewritten everything myself and published the full design concept here:
GitHub: https://github.com/DevrimworksStudio/lineageOS-Desktop-24.0
This is a design concept for a clean, open-source desktop experience based on LineageOS.
Thanks for taking a look.

Fixed Lineage Success - thorny certificate issue fixed
I've used Lineage and before that Cynogen of a variety of phones. Always "more or less" worked but always a few issues.
Most recently I have been using a NothingPhone 2. Lineage with MigroG, no GApps. It worked until is didn't. The updates stopped working - complaining of a certificate error. The 'Wise' bank app worked, but Revolut never worked. Maps and navigation were always iffy.
So I did the AI thing. Set up dev mode and USB debugging, and let my AI Agent (I used Hermes with GLM-5.3 in Ollama) do the work. I prompted it with "this is my phone, and updates fail with certificate errors". The agent did brilliantly well. It re-installed Lineage, reset the certificates, and now it seems to work better than ever. Both bank apps work, whatsapp, velamaps, comaps, and citymapper. That's pretty much all I use.
So, YMMV, but to all the people with intractable problems, perhaps try letting an AI agent loose on your phone.

Help
I successfully flashed lineage os on Oneplus nord ce4 (benz). Feels great btw.
But display starts flickering when smooth display option is enabled. I have to turn it off (feels rough) or use force peak refresh rate (consumes alot of battery). It is more noticeable during low light when brightness is at almost 20%.
What should I do.

(my first design) Lineageos Desktop 24.0 designs
Hi everyone! I am a 15-year-old UI/UX designer and this is my very first project. I designed a complete open-source desktop environment based on Android/LineageOS. Since I don't know much about coding, I am looking for developers to collaborate and bring this vision to life! Check out the full concept and details here: https://github.com/DevrimworksStudio/Lineageos-Desktop-24.0-a-first-open-source-android-works-on-computers-only-desings-/blob/main/README.md

Question Switching from LineageOS + GApps to LineageOS + microG, do I need to go back to stock before reflashing? OnePlus 7 Pro
The upgrade guide says this (emphasis added):
If you are currently using (or now want to use) an application package add-on such as Google Apps, you have the following options:
- keep using them: Download the appropriate version now (use the arm64 architecture)
- remove them: You can only do so by performing a factory reset, which will also remove all your data.
- start using them: You can only do so by performing a factory reset, which will also remove all your data. Download the appropriate version now (use the arm64 architecture)
So I need to perform a factory reset to remove Google Apps. But there are multiple very different meanings of the term "factory reset" in Android custom firmwares. It can either mean wiping data but keeping the custom firmware, or going all the way back to the stock OS.
Does anyone know which is needed in this case? I would really rather not go back to stock if I can avoid it. Using MsmDownloadTool has been kind of a nightmare for me in the past.

How to remove android setup in QS
I have android setup running in the active apps in quick settings panel and it is kind of annoying to look at. Is there any solution to remove it? Ps, I've tried force stopping android setup in the apps but it keeps on reappearing.

Question How to make sure which phone model i'm buying
Hi, I've been thinking on getting a Motorola Moto G05 to install Lineage on it. After looking the guide i noticed it states that the phone needs to be a specific model (between XT2523-11 and XT2523-2)
However, i've checked on the official Motorola site (where i was going to buy it from) and i couldn't find the model number. I also tried asking support but it didn't help.
Is there something i can do to make sure I'm getting the right model before buying it?

Fixed Trying to switch but Google Security Settings are completely stopping me. I need serious help
So i knew that before switching my Pixel 6a to Lineague, i would need to disable my authentication methods so that i wouldnt get locked out of my account when i reset my phone. But i ran into this issue: When you try to edit the 2fa settings, it asks for authentication, and all of the methods used there link back to my phone. If i were to switch my rom, i would get locked out of using 2fa forever. How do you guys get around this??
