Graphic Design
Buongiorno,
Grazieee :)

Just started learning layout. Best infographic design tool for beginners, free options?
I'm a few weeks into teaching myself design basics, things like spacing, headings, and text hierarchy. Infographics seem like good practice since there's a lot to arrange on one page.
I tried two free tools so far. On the first one, I spent about an hour on a layout, then just found out later that I couldn't download it without paying. For the second one, it pisses me off since it puts a watermark right across the middle.
So I'm looking for templates I can pull apart and change. And also, a free plan where I can get a usable file at the end.
What would you recommend for learning the basics? And which free plan limits should I check before I start building?

Designers, what would you want from a guided journal?
I'm thinking of creating a guided journal for designers who want to leave their 9 to 6 and start their own thing (freelance, studio, agency). If that's you, I'd love your input:
What's your biggest blocker right now?
How would you want a journal like this to help you?
Anything you'd want included, or any other suggestions?
A bit of background:
I've run a branding studio for 6+ years and recently started making content for designers. What I keep noticing is that most designers don't lack design skills. The gap is on the business side: positioning yourself, finding the right clients, pricing.
I'm also a big journaler, so I'd like to combine the two. The idea is a daily prompt journal that takes designers from 0 to 1, so you don't have to think about what to write. I use a 90-day journal called The Best Self, and I'd love to bring that concept to starting a design business.
Thanks so much, I'd really appreciate any honest feedback!

Senior Thesis Research: Mimetic Design
docs.google.comHello! I’m a product-industrial design major doing a senior thesis on “mimetic” furniture and home goods, and would love if I could get as many people as possible to fill out my form! It should take 2-3 minutes.

Software Suggestions for a Beginner
I just started a business and am working on launching my first product.
I need to create various designs, but honestly have no clue where to start. I've been slowly teaching myself how to use Affinity, but I'm wondering what other apps I'll need?
A couple examples of designs I need to make:
1) I want to edit photos of real places to turn them into illustrative art styles
2) I need to create old documents using either real or illustrated people that can consistently show up across multiple "pictures" (i.e. photographs, yearbooks)
I plan on hiring/commissioning people in the future for this work, but I'm trying to recover a bit financially from the start up costs. I do NOT want to use AI.
I have a laptop with a dedicated graphics card. It's not touchscreen, so I can't draw tablet style. Any drawing would be done with a mouse.
What software is best for these types of projects?
Do you have suggestions for turorials or resources to help me learn?
I can use public domain/licensed graphics for my business right now since I'm working on prototypes. I am hoping to learn these other skills so I can start making my own art for the real products.
Thank you ❤️

Complete beginner looking for a structured graphic design learning roadmap
Hi everyone!
I want to learn graphic design from scratch and would love some guidance on how to get started.
My goal is to build a strong foundation in design principles, such as typography, colour theory, composition, layout, and visual hierarchy, before moving on to more advanced techniques.
I’d like to learn how to create things like posters, social media graphics, logos, and basic brand identities. Eventually, I’d also love to build a portfolio of my own projects.
As a complete beginner, I’m unsure about a few things:
Which software or app should I start with?
What should I learn first, and in what order?
Which YouTube channels or free courses would you recommend?
Are there any beginner-friendly projects I should practise along the way?
How much time should I ideally dedicate to learning and practising each day?
I’d prefer free or affordable resources to begin with.
If anyone could share a practical, step-by-step learning path or advice based on their own experience, I’d really appreciate it.
Thanks in advance for your help!

Im a beginner graphic designer and i need some help
I'm a beginner graphic designer. I already have the tool I'll be using for my designs (Affinity), but now I need the most important thing: knowledge. I'm looking for free courses, books, and YouTube videos that will help me better understand the world I want to enter. I would greatly appreciate any help, no matter how small.

Brand Collaboration Concept: Smeg x Vespa (Aesthetic & Product Architecture)
galleryHey everyone! I’ve been working on a concept presentation for a fictitious brand collaboration between Smeg and Vespa, blending iconic Italian scooter design language with high-end retro home appliances.
The goal was to translate Vespa's organic curves, the classic "tie" motif (scudo), and signature chrome trims onto Smeg's refrigerators across multiple colorways (Verte Positano, Azzurro Cielo, and Rosso Corallo), extending the range from statement interior architecture pieces down to compact mini-cubes.
I'd love to hear your feedback on the brand fit, visual coherence, and overall art direction!
