Updates to sub rules ahead of Scary Farm

In anticipation of more media being posted during Knott's Scary Farm, u/ttomkat1 and I discussed the existing rules to add some updates and clarifications (click the pop-downs in the rules for the TL;DR). We're aware that some Redditors don't like vlogger content and would prefer not to see such at all, but we're taking an approach similar to that of r/SixFlagsMagicMountain... we'll still remove overt self-promotion or advertising, but we'll allow typical channel subscription requests as long as the content is still about Knott's. The ones who are dedicated to Knott's will often see things that others miss. If it's not your cup of tea, please vote your opinion and move on. We're also clarifying that stealing content without attribution and other forms of karmafarming will be treated as spam. Most importantly, don't forget the first rule to "Follow reddiquette and be civil"... if you see something you don't like, respond about the message and be mindful not to attack the messenger. Thanks everyone and see you in the fog!

I was not ready for how intense MontaZOOMa was.

First ever ride on Monty this past weekend, and Wow. I never expected that ride to be as forceful as it was. That loop is tight, and so is the spike, And I just didn’t think it would pack that much of a punch. I consider myself a seasoned coaster rider, and was thoroughly impressed. I can see why people love this ride aha

Knotts Name Change

Got a survey asking me what I thought of Six Flags changing the name of Knott's Berry Farm to "Knott's Berry Farm by Six Flags." Told 'em "Nope, I don't like that one bit." Knott's was created by Walter Knott, not some corporate conglomerate. Would you agree?

Hot sauce sold in the park?

I'm building up a little collection of themed hot sauces from theme parks. Have you seen any at Knott's Berry Farm? I'll be there in November and would love to pick one up. It seems like this'd be the Six Flags park most likely to have something like that.

Sometimes I feel like the metal detectors are for show

Today I went through the metal detector with the following: 2 ipads, battery pack, 2 phones, metal aerosol sunblock, 2 metal water jugs, keys, etc.

I prepared myself to set off the metal detector and get directed to the additional search area as usual, but instead, absolutely no alarms.

This always seems to happen only on slow weekdays. Are they only for show on these slow days?

Very forward thinking of the Marshall sisters to summon mass transit for the monsters... in fact, whoever thought of bringing in the locomotive for the Opening Scaremonies should get a raise…

First Time At Knott's Scary Farm: Horrible Experience

I went yesterday (10/25) for the first time ever and had a horrible experience. The mazes and shows were awesome, but everything else was just awful. I will use Universal as a baseline since that is the only Halloween event I frequent often.

  • Parking: $45 is nuts. Universal is only $30 and its all in a structure. Some will say to park off site, but I would rather not risk my car getting broken in to. We parked on the south side, were it was pretty much just a lot + grass. 4 parking lanes converged into 1 lane to get into the lot, which caused major blockage as everyone fought over who went first. There was basically no one directing traffic besides a dude with a cone light where we supposed to park. I give props to the guy working the parking booth as he let us know ahead of time that our backpacks would not be allowed in since it did not follow rules, saving us a walk back to the car to put bags away.
  • Tickets: I purchased the Fright and Fast Lane Pass. A bit pricey, but still cheaper than Universal. We get to the gates and the person working admission told us those are just for the fast lanes. An additional entrance ticket was necessary. I find that insane that they don't just bundle it in to the price on the website. Why must you purchase 2 separate tickets? That put it over $500 for the two tickets, which I personally think is overpriced for what we got.
  • Connection: My god is the connection at Knotts terrible. I have TMobile and do not have any issues any where else in OC. But Knotts was straight up a dead zone. The Six Flags app was basically useless and we had to rely on posted maps. No physical maps available at Info booth.
  • Basically No Signage for Mazes: We got so lost finding some of the mazes. Most mazes just have a person outside the maze with sign, which couldn't be more than 6 - 7 feet tall, making it useless as marker from a distance and with so many people and smoke. No where was the signage posted with mazes and arrows pointed in the direction they are located. Universal has signage everywhere with where the mazes are and their wait times. The only clear, high. well lit signage we saw was for the 4 mazes that are near each other (Widows, Zoo etc). There was no signage as to where the Hangman show was, causing us to miss the 10:15PM show.
  • Insane amount of fog: Look, I love the vibe the fog machines give, but the amount of fog in some areas has to be a safety hazard. You can;t see more than 5 feet in front of you at some times. Ties in with the lack of signage since I could not tell where the heck I was.
  • Prices: As usual, insane prices on literally everything. Nothing we ate was worth the money. The pizza by Ghost Town was awful. My girlfriend got Shrimp tots which were tasty, but basically had a cup of oil at the bottom. There was nothing that caught our eye that was special for the event like how Universal has themed food items. My beer was $18 and was barely cold, with bartenders asking for tips for opening a beer can tab...
  • Workers: The workers at this event were terrible. Most did not know where things were when we asked or told us to look it up even after we told them about our cell reception and app issues. People getting rowdy and loud while the workers twiddled their thumbs.
  • People: My god the people. Pretty much every maze had people stopping in the middle of the maze for the scare actors to reset, causing a huge build up. This was an issue at Universal as well. Some people were just touching all the props and banging on stuff, with workers just watching in the corner. While we were in line for Room 13, some asshole went in the bushes and took a piss. There was a bathroom 15 feet away from him (right next to the bumper cars). His trashy family just encouraged him and he goes behind a bush to take a piss. I could hear this animal fucking peeing. Absolute filth. Again, no workers did anything even though one saw him coming out of the bushes. There are kids around, man. I always thought the reputation Knott's customers had was exaggerated, but I see I was mistaken.
  • Line Control: This is more to do with Knott's as a whole, but they need to training from Universal and Disney in crowd/line control. Unorganized, with no clear system.

There is probably more that I am forgetting, but this is what really stuck with me. I really enjoyed the mazes and the scare actors, effects, set design and scares were awesome. But I don't think I will be returning next year as that was not enough to save it from what I posted above.

How busy will it be today?

Debating whether to go to horror nights or Knotts Scary Farm. The tik toks showing the long lines at Knotts discourage me. Which one should I go to?

Knott's Scary Farm Prop

This year was my first experience with Knott's Scary Farm. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience, however I would like to know where a certain prop was purchased. In the Chilling Chambers maze I encountered a prop I've seen only one once before. The prop in question is in the lab before the chupacabra club where it's a chest with his spinal cord visible in a metal box and a human controlling the arms and head. I was wondering where they purchased the prop?

small rant

I know it’s against the rules i definitely feel like if you ask for a refill for your drink its not that much of a hasle to just do it. some workers do but others look at me kinda weird, even though i don’t think they would get fired over a small thing and it’s not like they’re checked on 24/7. anyway it’s up to them!

How busy/crowded are Sundays in November?

Debating on if we need fast lane or not going on November 8th. Is fast lane more expensive if you buy them in the park or the day of? Fast lane is $109 for that day so I’m assuming it’ll be pretty busy since it’s not cheap like how it’s usually $75 for the weekdays. Do fast lane also sell out often? I don’t wanna risk them selling out, I’m usually an express/fast lane buyer regardless but people are saying most coasters were walk on/5-10min wait max.
