I started reading kingdom around a month ago and its all I've been interested in, I wanted to wait till im all caught up to chat to avoid any spoilers but I couldn't wait any longer. I have a little over 100 chapters till im caught up so im a little sad that ill have to wait each week, but its worth the wait for me. I dont have anyone to talk about kingdom with just yet, but in a week or so my friend will pick it up and experience it for himself. My favorite characters have gotta be Heki, Ouki, Tajifu, Denyuu, and Ryuusen. i hate Kaine. Ask any questions because Id love to what everyone thinks about kingdom, and i wanna talk about cool stuff.

Ever since the early days of Kingdom I was hyped for the moment Shin and the rest of the trio would finally reach General rank. I was so ready to see them lead massive forces and step into that high tier commander vibe.

Now that they are actually Generals though, it completely fell flat for me.

Literally nothing changed except the troop numbers on paper. Especially for the HSU, it still feels like they are operating like a small 2k or 3k squad.

Think about all the iconic individual armies we have seen throughout the series like Duke Hyou, Keisha, or early Kanki before he officially became a GG. The HSU right now is bigger than almost every single one of those individual armies. Yet they do not carry anywhere near the same presence or operational aura those guys had.

I am not even talking about Shin versus other Generals in terms of pure tactical talent. I mean the actual feel and scale of the army itself. They just do not feel like a massive force at all.

Is it just me or did the promotion completely lose its charm once it actually happened?

Seeing as i am right about at the halfway point I wanted to know what people's opinions are on the first half of the manga compared to the second half.

Can somebody calculate the amount of Qin's casualties in the last few wars against Zhao, starting from WZI arc to the current arc. I believe it's easily over 300,000 men. Even the battle of Gian and Hango alone would be at least 250,000.

First Time Reading Kingdom, no spoilers plz 🙏🏾

The greatest war arc I’ve ever read. Absolute Cinema. The Coalition Invasion Arc was incredible from start to finish. I’ve been gone through the “It’s over, we’re so back.” cycle that many times while reading a manga in my life. When the 4th army was reported attacking a Qin city I genuinely came to terms with the fact that I was about to lose 90% of my favorite characters. Especially Ten I thought it was up for him I’m ngl.

And then Qin proceeded to go on a run that rivals the 2011 Dirk championship. I was on the edge of my seat the entire time and holy shit everyone fucking delivered. Forgive me father for I must glaze, and I have to start with the generals.

This is my official submission of my Mou Bu apology form. After his disasterclass that got OUR goat ouki killed, I said I would never fw him again(even though I had a feeling a redemption was coming). But after this man how can I not concede? Stand proud Mou Bu, you are strong. Ya pops did good too this arc, he didn’t do a whole lot but we alr rock him Gou. I already made a separate post dedicated to Choutou cause I was also hating on him, but that final stand gave me a ton of respect for him. I am officially pushing the Kanki agenda, anyone saying he won’t become the #1 General in Qin is spouting Zhao propaganda. Ousen has so much fucking aura with that mask it’s nuts, and we finally got to see him do something this arc. I still need more though. Tou seems to smile a lot less after Ouki’s death man…my heart breaks for him. He seems secretly fucking busted too I love him so much. And finally, Duke Hyou. You were magnificent Duke Hyou, I will never forget you as long as I live. If you fw Hou Ken then i don’t fw you it’s that simple.

So many characters stepped up and exceeded my expectations this arc but I have to give a special round of applause for Shin and Sei. When Sei set out for Sai and finally reunited with Shin and Ten after so long while they were feeling so defeated, it damn near brought me to tears man. I have never once doubted shin against someone until he went down to fight Houken. I was so pissed that he was about to risk everything after the mountain people clutched the victory for us. How could he be so reckless? But I was wrong, what a character. You’d think after both Ouki and Duke Hyou co-signed him I would know by now but you live and you learn. Never doubting him again. 🫡

This is getting pretty long winded so I’m gonna leave some of my favorite panels/moments(there’s a lot) of the war arc and head out. I’ll be honest I don’t think it’s gonna get any better from here, but I’ll be dropping more reviews as I catch up to where the mangas currently at. Hopefully some of yall found this enjoyable to read

The kingdom anime does not get much better after s1, because of how censored it is, and how badly animated certain sequences are afterwards as well. Kingdom's "adult"ness is very important to set the tone of the story and the extent of certain characters' natures, whether it be nudity or gore. Certain important scenes with those features were also skipped like parts of ryofui's and ei sei's mother (cant remember her name)'s trysts. I can not believe that my favourite manga was done so dirty. I think any studio except for pierrot would have done the story at least some justice. If I had to choose a studio right now, I think OLM would be best, because of how well they did golden age Berserk back in 1997 with no restraints for any obscene scenes, and the fact that they are animating Apothecary diaries right now which is chinese-inspired can help them bring Kanyou to life a bit more. I also want to say Shin just looks ugly, and I know it looks exactly like the manga, but that might be the problem. They could have changed up the art style a little bit to make it translate better into the anime. To reiterate, any animation studio could have took it up and made it better. I hope they change animation studios soon, like how they did with attack on titan and vinland saga. Rn, I am in 847, and waiting for great qin-zhou war arc to end for me to binge when it is all out.

At one point of time I had this weird idea of not at all watching the anime because the intensity of just the manga is so fucking intense I did not want to spoil my excitement by watching anime. Currently I am re-reading it and I am thinking the other way around! Should I do it? Or should I continue reading manga and then watch anime altogether? Please give me suggestions!

I was waiting to post after finishing this war arc, but I had to talk about this series with someone. When he was first introduced I really didn’t give a fuck about him, and thought he was going to be another old geezer trying to prove he could still hang with the upcoming generation after not getting the spotlight in his. To be fair, I had similar reservations with Moubou but now I understand he’s the fucking best, so maybe I shoulda seen this coming.

I apologize General Choutou, I wasn’t familiar with your game. I judged you for hating on the goat Kanki, scrutinized with inabilities during the war, but this moment was absolutely peak. How DARE you try and end his military career through poisoning him rather than on the battlefield? If you’re gonna kill him it better be with a blade than some sweet shit like that. Don’t turn your back on him, because a commander does not show his back and flee.

What an incredible showcase of sheer indomitable human will! If this is your end, you will be remembered 🫡

Here Gyouun said that Zhao will be threatened by the youngsters in the future and the one they will face is Riboku himself. Do you think what Gyouun said in Battle of Gyou will happen in the manga? I mean we already see they have been facing Riboku but I haven't seen them threatening enough for him. Or what are you guys' takes on this matter?

I’ve been reading with Japanese names for 800+ chapters, and the site I used switched to Chinese names.
It’s like changing a name like Donald Trump to Buwei Tu.

does anyone know of any good kingdom youtubers that give excellent analysis and summaries on kingdom arcs? i have been away from kingdom for quite a while so i thought id refresh my memory

hairou and denei have to be like 50-70, with no aging somehow. taku has to have already been late 20s at minimum when shin was a babby conquering the stateless areas. so how old would that have made mougou and choukutso by comparison? CKT said he had a 50 or 60 year career which would've put him probably around mid 60s if he enlisted as a teenager but he looked 140. contrast that to the geezers in the HSU who joined at the formation of the unit who looked to already be middle age and they must be like 70 lol.

shoubunkun melted RAPIDLY, and he was already pretty old looking early on so he has to be either late 60s at minimum like the realistic estimation of the HSU vets or he's also like 100 and still commanding some degree of physical presence

Watched Kingdom for the first time in early 2013 with season 1, and started reading the manga after season 2, funnily enough the English translation for the manga was behind the anime at the time. Since the first arc of season 1, it’s been a wish of mine to visit Xi’an and see our boi Ei Sei in person, and explore the region that was Xianyang 2200+ years ago. I just turned 30 a month ago and finally made this trip a reality. It’s hard to put into words how I felt walking up those stairs as I was approaching his tomb. Quite an emotional moment to say the least, definitely a lot of sniffling a bit later once everything caught up to me. Moments like these make me glad I’m alive and privileged enough to make something like this happen. Hope all you guys here have the means to make this journey happen in your lives as well!

So I stopped reading the manga at the start of the arc cause I realised I love binger reading this manga and let the chapters pile up. I'm getting the itch to read it again so just wanted to know if the arc is finished?
