I’m fully aware this post might make me sound like a jerkoff but please read before commenting.

I (36F) met this dude (38M) on hinge. We’ve been on 3 dates over the last week. One was 7 hours long. We have another date scheduled tomorrow but I feel like I have to end it prior.

Obviously from his profile I knew he was overweight but I’m open minded and our conversation was amazing. He checked so many boxes so I figured I’d give it a shot. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed our dates. Given our age we’ve already had many deep conversations about what we want in life. Marriage, kids, etc.

Here’s the problem. Health and fitness is very important to me, and it’s truly not a superficial thing. I know many strong fat dudes that can bust up a mountain or bench 300 pounds. I also recently dated a scrawny guy who didn’t work out and I had the same concerns.

I don’t eat the best but I run daily, go to the gym a lot, and ultimately I feel like taking care of your body shows that you value and respect yourself. I gave him a shot because I thought - maybe he is just going through something that made him gain weight, or he’s in the process of trying to lose it, etc. Or maybe he’s one of those strong fat dudes. But after 3 dates and the things he’s said, I’ve realized that his mindset is just so far from mine and he doesn’t value the same things I value as far as bettering yourself and pushing yourself physically.

He’s a truly amazing guy but I’ve learned this is a deal breaker for me and I can’t continue seeing him. What is the nicest way to end it? I believe in honesty but I do not want to needlessly hurt this man by being too honest.

UPDATE - I ended up telling him I think he’s an incredible guy but I don’t see this progressing romantically. He asked if he came on too strong. I said he did nothing wrong, I just feel like our lifestyles are too different. He seemed bummed but didn’t ask for further details. I think we are going to stay friends.

I honestly wish this was a shitpost.

So, the other night, I had someone over for dinner. We’d been on a couple of dates over the past week, and I was excited because things seemed to be moving in a good direction. She seemed super normal and cool, and I’d genuinely been enjoying spending time with her.

Anyways, we have dinner, hang out, watch some TV, and then she heads home. Everything seems totally fine.

About an hour later, I go into my bathroom and discover that the toilet is COMPLETELY backed up to the top of the bowl with rancid shit water and clumps of toilet paper. I have a plunger in there, so I have no idea if she tried to unclog it and gave up or what actually happened.

Now, here's the kicker: I kid you not, about 15 minutes before I discovered this, she had literally messaged me to let me know she'd made it home, that she'd enjoyed hanging out, and that she'd had a great time. No mention of the toilet.

Am I wrong for being a little upset about this? I genuinely cannot wrap my head around someone leaving a situation like that without saying a single word. I mean, if something like that happened to me at someone else's house, I'd be absolutely mortified of course, but I'd at least let them know what happened, or try to fix it.

I haven't brought it up with her because, honestly, I don't even know how I'd begin that conversation. Part of me thinks I should just let it go and move on, especially since she seemed otherwise cool. But another part of me just finds the whole thing so bizarre that I can't stop thinking about it.

Am I overreacting here? Would you bring it up, or just let it go and see how things play out?

The last message was my number . I don’t know why I did that tbh. I usually wait for a couple flirty messages before i send it. I think maybe because she started flirting first , i felt bold and pulled the trigger early.

Edited to add my first message was a joke intended to be cute and playful, I thought people would understand that since so few people are in Mensa and I mention in my profile that I am a jokester. And since it seems to matter so much to people because apparently being ugly justifies disrespect, I don’t wanna gas myself up so I’ll just be objective and say the hinge algorithm really likes me, i get dozens of roses daily and am featured in the standouts section. I have no issues unmatching at the first sign of disrespect. I just wanted to try sending likes out too my bad. Has anyone else experienced this phenomenon where a woman will match with you, say something like “This is gonna suck” or, let’s say they have a picture where they are holding a drink and they look happy, so you ask something like “is the drink sweet?” And they match and say something like “No, it’s sour.” And then they’re gone. This isn’t a majority of matches in my area, thank God, but I have to wonder what goes through their heads. Why does this happen?

I’d include a screenshot, but whenever this happens, they unmatch immediately after casting their bad vibes.

I have a friend who is very fit and toned, in that he has a lot of muscles definition. For the longest time, he didn't include shirtless pictures because he has heard that it turned women off.

Last week, he decided to give it a shot. He includes a beach picture, and it was an overnight hit. He never got só many matches, and I think they were mostly from that picture alone.

My theory is that he saw an increase in the quantity of interested women, but not the quality; the number of matches may have shot up, but these women are obviously shallow and aren't looking for anything more than a fling.
