It required more QTE's, more than lifting Kronos's hands or stopping Atlas' finger, showing how much effort Kratos had to put through. (Original video not mine)

Bug/Glitch Interesting bug I found in God of War III's fan made PC port
idk what I did to make the Blades of exile look like that, they were just fine before the battle with Hades, but after the battle and leveling up my blades to LVL3, they now look like this lol, probably its due to my low-end pc, pretty sure it will be fixed if I restart the game
I kinda like it, reminds me of the Blades of Athena from the first game lol
just wanted to share this

Discussion I don't know why, but swimming like this in God of War III is so satisfying
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I love how Kratos swims so fast when you hold the button. I usually stay near the surface instead of diving underwater because it's more satisfying to watch him move through the water like this.
Does anyone else enjoy this, or is it just me?

Discussion A clever visual trick that told us from the very beginning that Pandora's Box was empty, despite Athena's assurances
Namely, the fact that the Box in God of War 3 was faded and dark from the moment it was found in the Chamber of Flames. When Kratos found the Box in the first God of War, it had a fiery orange glow that hinted at the powerful force hidden within it, but when Kratos tried to open it again years later, it had darkened and faded because it no longer contained anything its purpose had passed, and it served as a sad reminder of what Kratos was chasing. revenge is empty and will ultimately give him nothing, just like the Box he tried to open a second time.

Discussion Got the entire shit on my PC natively let's go boys.
For context I got a mini PC running bazzite with the amd Ryzen 9 6900hx Google is saying I should get slightly better performance then a real ps3 with the right settings for ascension but I'm still gonna use lossless scaling to get me better performance. But all the other games already run at a solid 60fps without needing to use lossless scaling.

Discussion How accurate is Cronos in terms of scale in GOW3 vs GOW1?
Ok firstly I don't think there is a definitive answer to this, just a fun thought experiment. I am pretty sure the developers would fluctuate the size of Cronos' body to fit the situation at hand.
That said: in GOW3 you fight Cronos, who wears Pandora's temple on his back, which was the setting for a dominant chunk of the first game. The guy is absolutely freaking huge in both games.
That said is he proportionately the same size in both games? My gut tells me that, even being as large as he is, his size in GOW3 is smaller than he would need to be to fit the proportions shown in GOW1. If he was any bigger in GOW3 his body would cease to resemble fighting on a giant monster and become vast terrain, similar to how in Xenoblade Chronicles you are fighting on a monster so big you can't even recognize it as being a monster.
I don't have any tools for making objective measurements but this is interesting to me.

Modding Working on a God of War II PC project with tons of modern features (Trophies, HD Models, MP4 Cutscenes, Modern/Classic
Hey everyone! I’m Gustavo Predador, a Brazilian content creator. I’ve been making God of War content and mods on YouTube for about 10 years now, and today I want to share a project I've been working on: a God of War II custom version for PC packed with a ton of improvements that people didn't even think were possible on the original engine!
I wanted to bridge the gap between nostalgia and modern standards, giving players the best of both worlds. Here are some of the main features I've implemented so far:
🏆 PS3-Inspired Trophy System: Brought a full achievement/trophy system to the PS2 version, heavily inspired by the PS3 Remastered collection.
🎬 MP4 Cutscenes & Upscale Support: Replaced the legacy video playback with MP4 support, allowing cutscenes to be upscaled and look crystal clear on modern high-res displays.
🧠 Memory Optimization & HD Models: Increased the native memory limits to support high-detail models and HD assets, while heavily optimizing memory usage so it runs smoothly on PC without eating up too many resources.
🖥️ God of War III-Inspired Menu System: A completely revamped menu interface for anyone who loves the sleek look and feel of God of War III.
⚔️ Classic vs. Modern Toggle: Added an option where you can toggle between enhanced modern/classic graphic styles or stick to a 100% original purist experience.
🎁 Custom Extras & Mods: I'm also including my own custom models and God of War III mods as optional extras for PC players to check out and have fun with.
🛠️ Quality of Life Features: Custom HUD options, screen-hiding features, and general technical refinements.
It's been an incredible journey bringing this classic to life with these modern amenities. Let me know what you guys think, or if there's any other feature you'd love to see in a project like this!

Discussion Why are these enemies harder than the actual bosses?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
I'm playing God of War III, and I think I've found the most annoying enemy in the game so far.
These guys come in pairs, carry swords, and hit ridiculously hard. I can barely dodge their attacks, and they kill me so easily. I've fought bosses that felt easier than these guys.
Am I missing something, or are these enemies genuinely this difficult?

Discussion Ariel Lawrence is the best choice for God of War Laufey
I was excited for Laufey because of the trust that 2018 and Ragnarok earned from me. But there was one thing I wasn't sure about: Could Ariel Lawrence be a good fit for directing it? I had the same reservations for Eric Williams before Ragnarok's release - before I knew they could recapture the lightning-in-a-bottle aspect of 2018.
So I looked up Ariel Lawrence, and I found mostly stuff I knew about before:
> History with God of War since GoW1 when she worked on its teaser trailer.
> She worked on Cinematics, Production, and Narrative.
> Work History of 20+ years.
> Moved to Riot Games and worked on the narrative for League of Legends before getting poached by Cory Barlog in 2021.
Now, I've been a huge LoL lore nerd for over a decade, but I knew working on LoL's narrative means about as much as saying:
"I worked on a Marvel Comicbook"
With an IP that big, you could be from any era, working on any project, from any narrative arc.
So I looked into what her role at Riot Games was, and I had a "Keyser Soze" moment where I turned around and pulled "Realms of Runeterra" from off my bookshelf. A lore/artbook which was creatively directed by Ariel Lawrence.
You see, Ariel worked on this era of League, where they rebooted everyone's lore for the third time, but this was the reboot that actually stuck for most of the characters.
It's the era of Lore that Arcane would eventually be inspired by. A full recreation of every region and of every champion backstory.
And if you think God of War fans are picky, you don't know the depths that fans can nitpick.
In League, if Character A has a story where they view Character B (their eternal rival) in a bad light. Then Character B's subreddit (every character has enough of a fanbase to have a subreddit) would cry "Character Assassination" so fast that Lincoln would turn in his grave.
At that time, there had to be at least 100 champions. And Ariel wrote a haiku for every champ, apparently. That's huge for a game where a champion might not even be remembered by the balance team for a full year plus change.
That's more love for champions than even the Skin Team gives. IYKYK.
But here's the stuff that especially pretains to God of War:
Ariel worked on this era where the lore used various mythologies from the real world, COMBINED them, and added League's own spin on them. For example: Warwick was a simple Werewolf champion, but he would become a Chemical/Mech-Enchanced Chimera of Bat/Wolf/Fox.
Ariel also helped create the Warriors 2020 Season Start Cinematic. An emphasis on spectacle, art design, and music. It's definitely one of the better season cinematics.
Finally, Ariel also wrote: "Confessions of a Broken Blade" - a short story about Riven and Yasuo, easily two of the most popular characters in League. This is a story that should not be understated, as it combines their backstories, and finally ended a mystery/narrative hook that held them narratively frozen for years and years.
Yasuo and Riven are also characterized by being magical swordsman with incredible wind powers, tragic backstories that involve the deaths of their family members and loved ones, and being exiled from their people and land. Sound familar to Kratos and Laufey?
So Ariel has experience in the industry. The know-how to produce on an IP that is even bigger than God of War. Trained on a narrative universe that could rival Marvel or DC in size and complexity. Has history with God of War from the start and end of the first trilogy. Already combined mythologies for League. And she does small character studies for fun.
The equivalent of choosing Ariel for GoW Laufey is like being on the Price is Right, getting a question about: "What was the first rocket to the moon called?" And you have the ability to phone your friend, a Nasa Scientist. Who worked on that rocket. At this point, I honestly think there's no one whose strengths are more suited for this specific project.
And that's not to say that Laufey is guaranteed to be a success. Nothing is guaranteed in this world. But at this point, it would be irresponsible of Cory Barlog not to call that Nasa Scientist. It's the no-brainer choice.

Discussion God of War 3 is a disservice to Chains of Olympus.
For a PS3 finale title it was all bloodlust as it should. But narratively, following the events of battling through the sun temple, riding the fire steeds, succumbing to the depths of tarturus to release the sun god Helios, to only have no plausible fight sequence, no narrative or need to decapitate the damn head.. God of War III never made sense to me, being so flamboyant in its excess yet remaining unreasonable for most part.

Easter Egg I like the Variety in sizes shown in chains of Olympus
During my playthrough I couldn't help but notice that unlike in other games where the Titans are nearly all the same size , here in GoW CoO we see different titans with different sizes
Some aren't much bigger than the colossus of Rhodes , some are as large as Ares , and then we got to see Atlas former holding prison in the last pic and the share size difference add a lot of weight and good build up to what we are going to see later , he's really REALLY huge

Discussion Probably the most divisive and controversial part of the Valhalla DLC among the community
I've seen comments from people who don't like Tyr's suggestion that Kratos might have been driven by deeper, more "noble" motives. Let’s be honest: Kratos is an antihero, and when he waged his conquests as part of his military campaigns and encountered barbarians, he was driven by his ambition, sense of power, hubris, and pride as the original games made abundantly clear to all of us. So when he finally hit a wall and was about to die, Kratos summoned Ares because he couldn’t accept defeat and death at the peak of his young career.
Years later, this seemingly clear picture suddenly takes a slight twist because the developers themselves wanted to give this moment an ambiguous undertone by asking what would have happened if Kratos hadn’t stopped them by summoning Ares, and whether he felt no obligation to protect Sparta and its people which is meant to give his selling his soul to Ares a more heroic tone, since, after all, Kratos was guided by what he at that moment, rather than what was about to happen.
And I noticed that some people didn’t really like this because they felt as though the developers themselves wanted to change and whitewash the selfish and arrogant image of the young Kratos and rewrite the old games by giving a previously unnoticed depth to this specific decision of Kratos since the old games were unambiguous in that it was about the inability to come to terms with defeat, desperation in the face of death, and winning at all costs. Do you think this was a good move, or do you feel like it was an unnecessary and harmful addition to lessen the burden of Kratos choice?
