Mock Trade ESPN pitches Nets trade for OKC’s Jalen Williams

Post image
0 Upvotes

Jalen Williams is an All-NBA player, but his injury woes on a massive contract are truly concerning to me. Still, if he can get healthy again, that’s a real, foundational piece for Brooklyn moving forward.

EDIT: Realized the Nets would be giving up multiple picks here, not getting picks with Williams. Still, if Brooklyn can rebuild properly and be a winner in 3 years, those picks may not be all that bad to give up assuming they still have the Knicks picks from the Bridges trade.

What do you all think of this one?

Mock Trade MPJ trade from Pistons fan

Greetings Nets fans. MPJ would be a perfect fit on our team to push us to the next level a la Rasheed Wallace. I am well aware we are not the only fan base that wants him. Hes been awesome this year and I see a very possible future where your FO keeps him around and pays him. That being said, let me know how you feel about these trades, as I am unsure on what his value truly is.

MPJ for Tobias Harris (expiring) + LeVert (signed through next year 14 mil) + '26 and '28 first.

Or alternatively, if you want a young player...

MPJ for Tobias + Ivey (needs to be paid this summer) + '28 first.

Is this close to what you imagine the haul could be? Is it too little for MPJ? Have any counter offers? Would throwing in some 2nds sweeten the pot?

P.S. Big Noah Clowney guy.

Mock Trade Trade Suggestion: Myles Turner

Nets Need a Center

Throughout training camp and the preseason, it was clear that there was a gaping hole at the center position.

It’a great to see Day’ron earn the starting role, but we need another guy that can block shots, provide size, and get some rebounds. Moe plays more like a stretch four than a five, as he doesn’t defend or rebound particularly well.

Therefore, I think the Nets should try and work on a deal for Myles Turner from the Bucks.

I know he’s not the best and has his own issues with rebounding, but he would immediately improve the floor of this team with his shot blocking ability and floor spacing, as well as bring some playoff experience to a young team looking to get there.

The Bucks seem to be embracing youth, and trading Turner would allow Kel’el Ware to gain more playing time and take over the starting center role. It would also help them clear the cap sheet with Turner’s contract that hasn’t exactly worked out as planned so far with his former running mate Giannis now playing in Miami.

Hypothetical Trade Package

Nets receive:

- Myles Turner ($26.6M 2026-27, $27.9M 2027-28, $29.1M player option 2028-29)

Bucks receive:

- Terance Mann ($15.5M 2026-27, $16M 2027-28)
- Noah Clowney ($5.4M expiring, impending RFA)
- 2028 PHI 1st Round Pick

This package allows the Nets to get off Mann’s salary, and use it as a way to help bridge the gap between the outgoing and incoming salary.

The Nets seem to be on the fence about giving Clowney his second contract, so they can send him to a young Bucks team where he can get some playing time and potentially earn a second contract from them. He also very much fits the mold of the tall/lanky high-potential player that the Bucks often seek out (see Nate Ament from this past year’s draft).

The 2028 Sixers pick also sweetens the deal for the Bucks, and makes it more justifiable to take on Mann’s dead weight salary, while also serving as a way to bridge the talent gap between Turner and Clowney/Mann.

Closing Thoughts

If you look at many of the good teams in the NBA right now, almost all of them have at least one proven NBA center (not including superstars like Wemby/Jokic/KAT). The Thunder have iHart, Celtics have Mitch/Queta, Pacers have Zubac, etc.

I feel that Turner would fit like a glove in this Nets offense, as he would provide strong floor spacing around playmakers like Brown Jr. and Randle, while also addressing the much-needed shot blocking issue that this team currently faces.

He’s also just more of a proven talent overall than Sharpe/Wagner.

I’d love to hear thoughts on this below!

Mock Trade How would we feel about a trade like this?

Nets help facilitate Fox to the Wolves by sending MPJ to the Spurs along with Saraf and taking in Randle and an injured DDV for the 20th and 28th pick this year, and the Spurs 2030 pick.

Nets ideally pair both of those picks to move up in the draft or get more future picks.

Memphis, I would counter with the ORL 2026 and ORL 2030 unprotected instead of 2028. Besides that, I like it.

Lakers, I’d laugh and block Rob Pelinka’s number.

I would prefer another pick that wasn’t OKC’s own because they’ll be good for years to come. But I like topic’s potential. He would’ve been a top 5 pick last year if he didn’t get injured. #EthicalTank

Mock Trade ESPN mocking a potential Zion Williamson trade where the Nets get Keon Johnson and Afernee Simons in a 3 team trade

Dame gets a new running mate

Portland Trail Blazers get: Williamson

New Orleans Pelicans get: No. 3 pick, Patty Mills, Royce O'Neale and Dorian Finney-Smith

Brooklyn Nets get: Anfernee Simons and Keon Johnson

The Blazers face a dilemma with the No. 3 pick: trade it for veteran help on star guard Lillard's timetable, or pick somebody who can lead the franchise in the post-Dame era? Dealing for Williamson could allow them to split the difference. If healthy -- key if -- Williamson is the All-Star teammate Lillard hasn't had since LaMarcus Aldridge left in free agency eight years ago.

Meanwhile, at 22, Zion wouldn't be much older than 2022 lottery pick Shaedon Sharpe. The cost for the Blazers, besides the No. 3 pick, is starting guard Simons. Sharpe's emergence late in the season makes the smaller Simons more expendable, though Portland would need to add ballhandling depth with the No. 23 pick or through free agency.

Simons doesn't make much sense for the Pelicans, who already have their own former Lillard backcourt-mate in CJ McCollum, so this construction flips him to Brooklyn as a lead playmaker in exchange for 3-and-D wings Finney-Smith and O'Neale. With Herb Jones already in that role, New Orleans could try to trade one of them for draft picks in a separate deal.

Mock Trade Trade Up Idea with The Sixers.

Sixers Do this to save money

Brooklyn does it if they believe Ace is their guy

Thoughts?

What’s the most you would trade to move up 5 spots?

I thought this was an interesting framework Yossi Golzan posted a month ago and with the recent Ace rumors, this feels fair for both side.

With the giannis adventures happening right now how do you think he'd fit if you all trading for him would work with cam thomas(if he resigns) and the rest of (the half given) young core you'd prolly want to sign an proven big with giannis like myles turner who has the same par defensive impact if not better then nic

Overall what do you think and who should you all draft along with the big maybe in giannis

Mock Trade Would you trade Cam Johnson and #27 to Philly for Paul George and the 3rd pick?

Reason why Philly might do it: They get off Paul George's bad contract (the Nets have the cap space) and add Cam Johnson, who’s likely to be better than PG in 2025 and beyond, on a much better contract. Johnson fits Philly’s system perfectly and is more reliable than PG.

Reason why the Nets might do it: Simple, they get into the top 3 and have the opportunity to select a game-changer.

Mock Trade Would you guys do this trade?

Was wondering what Nets fans think about a possible trade between Houston Rockets and Brooklyn Nets

Dillon Brooks

3rd overall pick (2024)

27 BKN swap

for

Mikal Bridges

BKN gets 2 draft assets back (especially the 3rd overall pick)

Rockets get a player that can help them win.

Cooked this trade scenario. I think all teams win.

Raptors - get off Rj Barrett Nets - Get Ace Bailey 😉 Hornets - Rumoured to be drafting KK and honestly at #4 that’s too rich (for me)

(I come in peace)

Mock Trade A relatively low cost trade to address almost all of the Nets issues

Post image
10 Upvotes

It’s no secret this is a deeply flawed roster. There’s a reason projections all have the nets going roughly 37-45 in some order I would say the nets are lacking in the following areas

  • rebounding

  • rim pressure

  • playmaking

  • a stretch big

Ben + claxton without KD/Kyrie will be a disaster. Last year they had an 88 offensive rating with those 2 without the stars, which is comically bad.

Kelly Olynyk is the stretch big this team desperately needs. He can start at the 4 alongside claxton or work as the backup center next to Simmons. He’s also an elite passer for a big man, averaging 6.2 assists per 100 which was 4th among bigs behind Jokic, Sabonis, and just behind Sengun (5th if you count Giannis as a big) This number would rank 3rd on the Nets behind Ben and Dinwiddie. He also averaged >10 rebounds per 100 which is better than anyone besides Ben and Claxton on this roster. He’s also a weirdly good ball handler. He is the rare big who can dribble, shoot, and pass. He is a limited defensively, but claxton is a perfect compliment to him on both ends of the court.

He is a 32 year old on an expiring contract so I don’t think he’ll have a crazy high cost in a trade. The jazz just added 2 power forwards this summer and their 2 most important players in Lauri and Kessler play the 4 and 5 so I think they’ll move on from him this summer.

Cole Anthony is an ELITE rebounding guard. Only Westbrook rebounded more per possession than Cole Anthony last year. Despite being just 6’2” he averaged more boards than DFS, Royce, Mikal, CJ per possession last year. The nets last season were dead last in shots at the rim. Anthony is an athletic guard who can provide rim pressure. I prefer him strongly to Tyler Herro.

Anthony is the more efficient scorer, has a higher assist %, the lower turnover %, the higher reb %, and most importantly doesn’t make 30 million dollars a year going forward. His shot has improved every year and he has elite FT% which indicates great shooting touch. The nets don’t have anyone who can run pick and roll and Anthony ranked in the 84th percentile last year in the pick and roll

Cole will be a RFA next summer, and Jake Fischer reported that the Magic don’t want to pay him and Suggs and 1 or both of them is likely available this summer. The Magic had interest in Grant Williams this summer, so I would think they would like DFS, who is like a deluxe version of Grant. They cut Isaac this summer too because he’s due 2 years 34 million, but they can just pay him 7 million now and be done with him, as he’s played 11 total games in the last THREE years.

I would run a rotation of

Anthony-Mikal-Johnson-Olynyk-Claxton

Dinwiddie-Cam T-O’Neale-Simmons

Then Ben is basically your super 6th man as the first sub for claxton with Kelly moving to center. Anthony is great in the pick and roll so he ties his minutes to claxton. Dinwiddie struggles there, but is elite in isolation and on catch and shoots, so he plays most of his minutes with Ben, who functions as the primary playmaker.

The nets in this trade give up just DFS and 2 seconds and address all of their biggest weaknesses and improve the team substantially.
