Nasa actually made a lessons plans that many schools used, activities, assignments, puzzles, coloring pages. It was a big deal. And many children (myself included) watched it blow up live on TV.

The lesson plans were actually pretty good and several years later they retried it and that time didn't tramatize the kids.

As an aside, the actor who played Ralphie in A Christmas Story (Peter Billingsley) was in the audience at Kennedy during the launch.

Seriously, why do people try to deny something so well documented.

It's a shame, Dave is quite an interesting bloke, but fuck me, the adulation of nerds on YouTube has gone to the mans head - he's convinced he knows it all.

I saw it live. I didn't have a first period class, so I left home later than most. The launch popped up on TV live, and I saw it explode. I told the teacher when I got to class, they didn't know if I was fucking with them.

I was 7 years old, they wheeled a TV into the cafeteria so the whole school (K-4) could watch.

If you grew up in Central FL you most likely went outside and watched it with your class like I did.

Somebody ask Dave if he saw Challenger explode when he was 17.
