Discussion INTJs are weird

I took a test and found out I’m an INTJ

I thought the description of it was pretty cool but when I looked up this subreddit to meet my fellow INTJs

I find out it’s a cesspool for egomaniacs whose entire personalities revolves around being an INTJ.

Seriously. I saw a post that said smth like “can an intj ever get along with an infp”

Most of the INTJs here are most likely low IQ, lacking self awareness, and not nearly as remarkable as they picture themselves in their head

I don’t want to be an INTJ anymore

Advice Why do I hate software engineers?

• Upvotes

I (33F) ENTP/8w7 have had the absolute worst luck dating men in this field. I live in a major city where these guys are a big part of my dating pool, but every “talking stage” is ending horrifically, and I’m not experiencing that with others outside of this realm of work

Obviously INTJ/INFJs are in these roles a lot, and I haven’t been able to quiiite pinpoint type any of these men in our interactions, but I’m trying to put my finger on just why we are initially clicking but falling apart quickly

Are they taking my antics too much to heart and can’t comprehend the sexy jester’s spirit? Any insight is appreciated, it truly has been a strange pattern lol

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) Is this the end?

Whenever I read about INTPs on reddit and pdb people always shit on me for having zero social skills, being the least assertive type, being a loser, loner, un athletic, unattractive, and undesirable to women. I haven’t once heard anything positive besides the usual nerd stereotype which is stupid af. This shit’s been fucking with my head for years now and I’m starting to go insane. Is this the end? Am i really a joke forever for being born with this stupid type? Does anyone here actually give a shit or you just let these stereotypes define you because no one here seems to care at all.

I fucking hate myself. I would be in a much better place in life if I never even discovered this stupid thing in the first place but here I fucking am.

Does Anybody Else? Campaigner to Commander pipeline

I decided to retest my MBTI this evening since I was 18 when I took it initially. I was typed as a campaigner back then. Now, at 25 & after 2 break ups, multiple management positions, overextending myself in my career and almost failing at college; I’m apparantly an ENTJ-T. I’m not really surprised, I just watched The Devil Wears Prada for the first time and could understand why Priestly was that way. The character was one of the famous ENTJ’s alongside Tony soprano. lol. Example: A coffee shop I worked at a couple years ago didn’t work with me while I was going to school. I had to leave to take a math final, and they wereupset that I had to leave. I didn’t stay too long after that and from then on I decided I won’t let a customer service job mess w/ my education. I’m quite proud of myself for growing a spine and learning how to respect myself and my time but uh. I have totally unlearned how to talk about my emotions effectively, and it’s hard for me to get to know people on a deeper level. I’m looking to regain a balance between empathy & apathy. Not caring as much feels fantastic, but, I feel incredibly bitter towards inefficiency. I’m even becoming apathetic towards friends & family of mine that are “inefficient”, while this was typically a trait that only used to extended in my work life. Has this happened to anyone else? Looking forward to chatting about this with my therapist, I’m feeling much like my “life is not fair” father lately lol

Debate/Discussion People are terrible at typing ENTPs

I notice that ENTPS are almost always mistyped. Men are often typed as ESTP or INTP. And women are mistyped as ENFx. I see this all the time with celebrities. It's like if we're not some directionless loser who jokes and argues all the time, then we're not ENTP.

Debate/Discussion I need a last round of gentle souls (same or new ones) to help fine-tuning a promising Typing test. People that know their type with 100% certainty.

I created a typing test that works based on what you resonate with, it gives you a feed of cards with statements, quotes, scenario, and you select only the ones you resonate with, this way the cognitive load is very low, also the feed adapt to funnel down your type, you just select what you think is related to you.

I already asked on different subreddits including this one, for the version 1.3, 135 persons sent the report, it resulted with 70% accuracy, not that bad, I used this test session to improve it, I hope reaching 90% accuracy, maybe with this new version 1.5. About the last test session you have all the data analysis on the website.

At the end of the test, in the result page, you will have a frame that ask you to share your result, with a simple button. It will send me the informations I need in my database, it gives me all the cards you selected, the timeline of the guessing of your type, how the algorithm reacted, etc, it helps me to fine-tune the test.

I really feel that this method can work and be more accurate than anything that already exist.

Thank you in advance if you try it, and thank you again for the ones that already tried it, it helped me a lot improving the test.

PS: I will share the findings in the result page like for the last test session.

Question Do clingy/velcro types give you the ick?

Question for you all.

I'm an INFJ and expecting a child with my INTJ bf. Due quite shortly.

I'm at the same time very independent and this is the thing my INTJ admires about me the most, buuutttt I'm also the velcro type at the same time. Want to cuddle, kiss, hug. Not constantly, but at least once per day/two days.

Given how private you guys and girls are, what would you say, do you enjoy more clingy types or no? My INTJ is a "secret", kind of covert romantic type, writing me a letters but jokes about marriage, for example. 😅 I guess this romance stuff gives him the ick, but does it when it feels alright for him.

Otherwise we are a great pair, but we probs couldn't make it if we weren't mature, that similar in lifestyles and life values. From the beggining we had some clashes, I didn't express my emotinal needs and was annoying, and he didn't have a clue what do I want and was overwhelmed. Over the time we both learnt to be more patient and trusting to eachother.

Check this out What do you think about people who try to spare your feelings?

Like by phrasing things in a kind way or doing things a certain way to avoid you feeling bad. (Or avoiding topics that have gotten you and the other person heated in the past. Essientially just trying to keep the peace between everyone.)

Do you appreciate it and would you reciprocate it?

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) How can I appear not to be a sociopath?

• Upvotes

I don’t believe I am one — otherwise, there would be no need for a post like this — but the people around me seem to have reached that same conclusion. I heard this from my family while growing up, as well as from some acquaintances; now, two psychiatrists are essentially citing ICD criteria in the medical certificates I’ve submitted for work (I am currently on leave precisely due to mental health issues), and one of the psychiatrists even suggested antisocial personality disorder during my last appointment.

I work at a public school, so the health department is going to place me under evaluation and require psychological treatment. I genuinely do not believe I have this disorder, but my history of behavior does not work in my favor (nor does my family history, given that my mother was, in fact, antisocial). I have, indeed, been acting in an aggressive and impulsive manner. I don’t know what to do to avoid receiving this diagnosis, and being honest doesn’t seem to be helping. Being honest is making them think I am a sociopath 🤦🏾‍♀️

Is this dysfunctional? (Probably) A moral dilemma (asking for a friend)

First of all. Never take anything I say seriously, unless of course, I am in fact serious, in which case it is highly disrespectful to not take me seriously.

Now here is the dilemma:

I, INTP, like to stay at home, which means ideally my potential future wife would simply break into my house.

However, by doing so, she would incriminate herself, triggering a major red flag, considering justice is a core principle of mine (I’m Batman).

Thereby, I ask of you to be the judge in the matter of whether or not, I myself am morally obliged to go outside. As staying at home, puts my potential ideal match in a position where she is forced to do what is wrong (break into my house), in order to do what is right (meet me where I’m most likely to be found).

Mostly Harmless INTPs who found God in adulthood

• Upvotes

What was your path to believing in Him? Why did you want to find God?

I’m asking cause right now I’m at the starting point. But I can’t believe before it will make sense to me, so I was going to read historical literature. Science doesn’t really help cause nowadays science can explain anything - people just be scientifically proving polar opposites right 💀

Debate/Discussion Better pairing: Thinker or Feeling?

Are we better paired with T or F people? I’m a woman btw and not sure if that matters. My issue with Feelers is that I feel like they wear me down and they need more maintenance than I’m willing to give. Like they really require too much emotional connection and it’s suffocating. But sometimes T people aren’t personable enough and I don’t always feel seen. Thoughts?

And love to hear about your experiences with S people too.

Am I mistyped or are there too many layers to this that it’s affecting my score?

It could be my lack of knowledge of cognitive functions skewing my ability to type myself.

Discussion Having a wedding is my biggest nightmare

Everyone now not only knows you’re in love with someone and that you experienced romantic feelings, but you’re also the center of attention for it. I would feel so exposed, I hate it. The thought alone makes my skin crawl.

For INTP Consideration How do you guys find like minded people?

Its so hard. Where are you lurking? Any tips? Some success stories? Its so hard to find genuine thinkers. I think the usual places like say some sports club is full of sensors. But are there some other places where thinkers actually gather? I crave depth in conversations and topics.

Question What's on your bucket list?

I'm curious what other people want to achieve or experience in their life.

Mine is pretty boring so far:

  • Multi‑day solo hiking, or living alone in the woods for a few days/weeks.
  • Learn to play electric guitar.
  • Travel across a few countries.

NOT an INTP, but... How would you define wisdom?

I’ve been thinking about the concept of wisdom lately, and I’m curious how you guys understand it. What do you think makes someone genuinely wise? Is it knowledge, experience, good judgment, or something else entirely?

I’ve always believed that someone can be highly intelligent yet lack wisdom, while someone with less formal knowledge can demonstrate remarkable judgment and understanding of life.

Question Subjectively, I don't like you. Objectively, Iam hoping it was just an immature INTJ - INFP

I have met a very toxic intj and we talked for a month and it was HELL for me, he was very immature and those traits include (controlling, disrespect, no boundaries, manipulation, overly secretive)

However, the only other INTJ guy I have met was at work, and we have mutual respect and love for each other (platonically), even though the interactions are a bit awkward and not very deep.

I think my question is, I have seen many successful INTJ - INFP couples, what makes it work ? Weaknesses? Cause i don't wanna define a whole group based on one bad experience, hoping to turn this into a positive outcome for me.

I would think about the future.

Great Minds Discuss Ideas I find it interesting that so many fictional INTPs are often debated to be other MBTI

A lot of the time INTPs are seen as a typical scientist which is funny when most scientist characters are often typed differently from INTPs. Also I noticed characters that get typed as INTP are often subjects to most debates about their type. A lot of them I have noticed tend to be typed as ENTP. Is it because INTPs just naturally don't care enough to argue which fictional characters they share a type with?

Hawt sessy flairs R teh Bestest! Is it just me, or do half the flairs here sound more ENTP than INTP? 😭

So many of them are loud, provocative, and practically begging to start an argument 💀

Where are the flairs for people who overthink everything in silence and take 3 business days to reply to a message?

Question Do INTJ recommended careers actually make sense?

I'm a software engineer, which is one of the top recommended careers for INTJs. Overall, I think it's just okay. I like the amount of learning that is involved (getting paid to learn), and the high-level architectural decisions with many tradeoffs. However, I don't like the nitty gritty, detail-oriented act of actually writing the code, fixing bugs, etc.

If pay were the same, I think I'd prefer being an author, an urban planner, or something like a military strategist instead.

Then again, this may just be grass is greener syndrome, as I can guarantee that I like this profession more than 95% of the other choices out there. I'd much rather do this than be a police officer, doctor, lawyer, or any role that deals with the general public on a daily basis.

Interested to hear from others here on their takes.
