First semester as a transfer?

Is it normal to struggle a bit with the pace? It's not so much that the work is hard it's just a challenge getting used to having class every other day for my classes and something being due multiple times by the classes during the week. Anybody else struggle with this? Especially as an adult learner with a family

Advice Is It Possible to Make Friends Without Dorming?

I'm a freshman and don't dorm, as it is too expensive and causes me discomfort overall. I feel very left out though as everyone seems to have friends through dorming. How hard is it to make actual friends through just classes, or is there anything else I can do? I am fairly alternative and queer, which already seperates me I feel like, but if theres any opening spaces or good classes to take that can help that's be nice to know about. Just any tips in general would be nice lol, thank you!

Advice Looking for friends 🫡

Hey, I’m a 20M sophomore business major dorming in LeCompte this year. Even though I feel like I’ve put sufficient effort into it, I haven’t had much success socially in college. Like I join student organizations just to see that they’re dead.

I’m most passionate about the Cubs, music, and video games. Let me know your favorite Cub/album/game, I’ll gladly respond lol.

Feel free to DM me, I’m really trying to meet people here 😭

Writing an Opinion Piece about Disability for the DePaulia

So I came up with an idea of writing an opinion piece about sometimes not feeling "disabled enough." (I'm nonverbal and also have a Tracheostomy) Brought it up to my professor and he loved it. The thing is, in my pitch, I said I would interview a few students with disabilities at DePaul, but I'm not sure the best way to go about this. I'm thinking maybe I could start on Reddit cuz people answer quickly here lol. If you're a disabled student at DePaul, HMU in the comments! Not sure what the best way to get contact info is.

Basically, if you've ever experienced someone telling you "You don't look disabled" or people questioning your accommodations, you'd be a great person to interview because that's what I'm writing about.

Housing Is there a way to request a roommate change?

Hi all, I was wondering if there's a way to request a roommate change. I live in the uc and my roommate hasn't been the best to me or the 2 girls we share the bathroom with. Her side of the room has been so messy to the point where her trash is migrating over to my side of the room (literal chew pieces of gum have been suck on the floor) among other things. I have photos of how the room is and messages from the other roommates. Is there a way?

Has anyone taken MAT 150 (Calc 1) with Emily Barnard? Is attendance required?

Hey everyone,

I’m registered for MAT 150 (Calc 1) with Emily Barnard this coming quarter. I’m a commuter, and the class times fall right in peak traffic hours, so my drive can stretch to almost 2 hours each way. On top of that, it’ll be the middle of winter, and this is my only in-person course.

For anyone who’s had her for this class: does she grade attendance or require it? Does she post lecture notes or slides online, and is it manageable to learn from those if you can’t make it to every class?

Thanks in advance!

duck duck go privacy user

Hi everyone! I’m a college student conducting a survey for a marketing research project about DuckDuckGo and consumer preferences regarding online privacy and search engines. I’m looking for participants who use DuckDuckGo and those who don’t. The survey is short and should only take a few minutes. Your participation would really help with my research. Thank you so much for your time and support!

Question Basketball Game Tonight

I picked up the free tickets for the exhibition game vs Notre Dame tonight a couple weeks ago, and was wondering if it would be worth going. It would be my first time at a DePaul game, but I'd rather not trek down there if its going to be empty/supremely boring.

Hey guys! I’m joining UIC in Spring 2027 for undergrad and wanted to make some friends before coming to Chicago. If anyone else is joining or already studying at UIC and wants to connect, hmu! We can exchange socials and get to know each other before the semester starts :)

TLDR: I made a transit app LoopGoer (loopgoer.com), I’m looking for people to test it out. Some noticeable features are live alert (tell u stuff like broken elevator, staion closure train delays…etc)

Hi everyone,
I’m not a student at Depaul nor in Chicago in general matter of facts I graduated at IUB (Indiana). I just move to Chicago 3 months ago. I noticed something immediately the moment I move is public transit here is quite confusing for new comer. Apps like Ventra definitely not doing a good job at show case the bus/trains and I dont know why Metra and CTA has to be separated like that. With the recent Green Line/ Pink Line Closure Google Maps and Apple Maps doesnt even work properly. Now Transit is not bad but I will be honest the UI quite suck and confusing. So as a CS student I made this app called LoopGoer. The app is currently still underdeveloped but it’s 90% done! and I’m looking for test user, app will be 100% free of charges no bullshit ads! I need you guys honest opinion and feel free to AMA!

Visit: loopgoer.com

I made it so I can tell you what features it has

Before anything: This app is not meant to replace google maps or apple maps, it just provided a better representation to make public transit easier! Also an explore feature let you check out the city for less money and more fun

This is a post I made in the UIC sub. DePaul is the other major option for me as it's the only other school without a housing requirements. Currently I'm definitely leaning towards UIC am I missing anything about DePaul that I should consider?
