Man asked to find help finding a star my grandpa always looked at, at the day of his funeral

it was the night of my grandpas funeral. my grandpa had always been obsessed with the stars, anytime as a teenager I walked downstairs at 2am for snacks my grandpa would be on the back porch looking at the stars, since I was a kid he always told he about the stars but A lot of the times he tolded me about the Big Dipper, maybe one of the most well known constellations. On the night of his funeral I stayed at a friends house that night, and we decided on a whim to walk a huge lap around the neighborhood at night which we have never done before, as we were rounding the corner coming back to his house, there was an older man walking down his long driveway. Somehow we meet at his driveway as soon as he was at the end of it. We asked the older man how his night was going and all of that small talk, and why he was walking to the end of his driveway at the dead of night. he said this, “I couldnt see the stars tonight from my backporch so I walked down here, I’m looking for the Big Dipper can yall help me find it?” I was able to help him find it because of my Grandpa always telling me about it, I like to think of that as his last time looking at the stars with me.

I'm not one to believe in numerology but...

I rented a safe deposit box at a different branch of my credit union today because the branch where I've had a box for the past 42 years is closing. 42 years, the answer to life, the universe and everything.

The new box number at the other branch is...

42.

I moved across the country on a whim, got engaged, and accidentally discovered that my fiancée’s ex’s biological father was my old boss’s lawyer from my tiny hometown in Connecticut. What are the actual odds?

Back in 2011, I did what any perfectly rational person in their early twenties might do. I packed up my life in Connecticut and moved all the way across the country to California on a whim.
No grand plan. No elaborate five-year strategy. Just a massive life change that somehow led me to a woman I eventually got engaged to.
She had a daughter who was five years old at the time. The little girl’s biological father, Adam, and my fiancée had split up a few years earlier, but they had managed to maintain a good relationship. They were cordial, got along, and understood that regardless of what happened between them romantically, they would always be the two halves of their daughter’s life.
Adam had been adopted as a child by a nice family out in California. As far as I knew, that was just part of his story. Nothing particularly unusual about it, and certainly nothing that had anything to do with me.
Fast-forward to roughly a year after my fiancée and I split up.
Somehow, I ended up finding out who Adam’s biological father was.
And this is where things get absolutely ridiculous.
His biological father was a lawyer from my hometown in Connecticut.
Not just some lawyer from Connecticut. A lawyer I actually knew. He had been my boss’s attorney for years.
Let that sink in for a second.
I had left Connecticut, moved across the entire country to California on a whim, met a woman, got engaged to her, and became part of a family that included a little girl whose biological father had been adopted by a family in California.
Then, after the relationship ended, I discovered that this guy’s biological father was a lawyer from the very same hometown I had left behind, someone I personally knew through my work back home.
What are the chances?
Think about all the things that had to line up for me to even discover this connection. I had to move across the country. I had to meet this particular woman. She had to have a child with this particular guy. He had to have been adopted into a family in California. His biological father had to be this particular lawyer. And I had to already know that lawyer because of my connection to my former boss.
And none of us had any idea how closely these completely separate parts of our lives were connected.
I’m not claiming the universe was sending me a message or that there was anything supernatural going on. I just know that when I found out, I had one of those moments where you sit there thinking, There is absolutely no way this is real.
I’ve spent years thinking about how bizarre this coincidence was, and I still don’t know what to make of it.
So, Reddit, what do you think? How insanely unlikely was this chain of events? Has anyone else experienced a coincidence so specific that it made the world feel ridiculously small?

What is the craziest "what are the odds?!" coincidence you’ve ever had?

Post image
1.0k Upvotes

So, I was recently listening to an episode of the podcast This American Life (titled "No Coincidence, No Story!") and they shared a story that absolutely blew my mind.

Back when she was 18, a woman named Esther was dating someone but wasn't happy. Half-joking, half-hoping, she took about 10 dollar bills, wrote her name "Esther" on the margins, and thought to herself: "The guy who gets this dollar bill will be the guy that asks me to marry him." She put them into circulation and basically forgot about them.

Fast forward years later, she’s dating a new guy named Paul in a different phase of life. A few weeks into the relationship, Paul casually pulls a dollar bill out of his wallet and says, "Hey look, this bill has your name 'Esther' written on it!"

She looks at it, and it is the exact bill she signed years ago. It had been floating around for years and somehow landed in her future husband's wallet. They kept it, got married, and framed it!

It got me thinking—finding a specific marked bill in a country of millions is basically impossible, but it happened. It feels like there are these tiny, invisible threads connecting us to people and events that we just can't explain.

It made me wonder: Have any of you experienced a crazy, "no way this is real" coincidence recently?

Bumping into people from your past isnt a coincidence?

I used to be in a friend group and we separated years ago. We all live really close to each other, use the same public transportation but never ever bump into each other. One of them literally lives about 300 meters away and I haven't seen her since the separation. BUT. Whenever something big in our lives happens we bump into each other like 3 times in a span of a week. For example, I broke up w my boyfriend today and On my way home I saw my ex bestie sitting across me on the tube. Literally havent seen her in 3 years and I cannot believe this is just a coincidence. Another time, one of the girls got hospitalized and when they let her go, I bumped into her 3 times in a week. Does someone know anything about this/ has a theory? xxx

Saw her at the grocery store at 8am. Again at a gas station an hour away during lunch. Finally at a takeout place near my house for dinner. She looked at me like I was stalking her and honestly I was starting to think the simulation was glitching

Craziest coincidence of my life, like wtf bro

Post image

Bro, I genuinely need to know how weird this is because I still can't wrap my head around it. 😭

I'm 23, and I've had 3 girlfriends in my life so far.

Here's the crazy part:

All. Three. Of. Them. Had. Their. Birthday. On January 1st.

AND WAIT, IT GETS WEIRDER.

Two of them even had the exact same name. 😭

These were three different relationships, and somehow I ended up with this ridiculous combination of coincidences.

Like, what are the odds of this happening? Is the universe messing with me, or am I just ridiculously unlucky (or lucky?) in the most specific way possible? 😂.

Has anyone else experienced a coincidence this specific? Because WTF. 💀

Strange coincidence 9/11

· The wild coincidence: In 2004, the FBI revealed that 9/11 conspirator Zacarias Moussaoui's email was linked to Nick Berg. But how? Berg's father explained that an acquaintance of Moussaoui asked to borrow Berg's laptop on a bus in Oklahoma to send an email—and Berg actually gave him his own email and password.

· The innocent victim: The FBI confirmed Berg had absolutely no terrorism connections, but his email address was used by Moussaoui before 9/11.

· The tragic ending: Years later, Berg went to Iraq and was kidnapped and beheaded by terrorists in 2004.

So here’s the crazy part: An innocent guy just tries to be nice and lets a stranger use his laptop on a bus, and his email ends up connected to the biggest terror investigation in U.S. history. Was it just incredibly bad luck, or a terrifying reminder of how small the world really is? Let me know what you think. 👇

I bet it was the same person as always.

Apparently I just sent a reply to myself.

I don't have to justify my identity to you but she has used my ex to steal my letters, my passport my devices, my Google accounts are in a family link or something and I can't even read my own emails.

She's has control of every phone or device.

Everything is hacked.

She's been in touch with my estranged dad through a fake Facebook account.

She has applied to CICA for a new claim and even faked letters.

She's has had 110.000 from them. I think. And I dread to think what else.
