Local News Another bike accident down Cariboo Road today

At this point the city should admit it’s a bad idea pairing a tiny fast bike lane down the hill with blind corners, busy traffic, and nowhere to go at the bottom.

Hope the biker is okay.

ALERT: Off-leash pitbull/terrier mix charged our dog on Arcola St.

At 8pm, I took my leashed & registered dog for a walk along Arcola St. As we were heading to the sidewalk from our townhouse courtyard, an off-leash dog walked into the property courtyard from the sidewalk and charged at me and my dog. I had to get in between the two dogs to stop a physical attack and yelled 'No' as loud as I could. The dogs never made physical contact and the off-leash dog didn't bite. We were well inside the property when the owner, an older caucasian man, came inside to grab his dog and walked back out to the sidewalk. I have reminded him that dogs in Burnaby can't be walked off-leash, and the owner claimed that it was a service dog, registered and marked, though it was too dark to see any kind of dog vest. I've also never seen a service dog separate from their owner, walk into another property and charge a human and leashed dog well out of their owner's way. Throughout the ordeal, my dog didn't even make a sound and was confused & scared as I was holding her back as far as I possibly could with my opposite arm. The owner refused to take accountability saying their dog was under control, when it clearly was not. This owner was seen in the area the past few weeks, during daytime as well, walking behind the same dog which is always off-leash. I'm grateful a more serious incident didn't occur this time, but this concerning behavior may result in injury to me or my family in future.

Please others be alert about this kind of behavior and report it. I'm tired of owner's not taking responsibility and letting their dogs walk off leash wherever they like. It's not only dangerous for others, it's dangerous for the dog itself (could easily have been struck by a car).

Anyone else hearing low-frequency drilling noise near Holdom at night?

Has anyone else around North of Holdom noticed a faint, low-frequency drilling or rumbling sound late at night?

It’s not loud, but it’s a constant, deep vibration-like noise. I’m wondering if it’s coming from nearby construction.

Makeup services at Sephora - thoughts?

Thinking of having makeup done at Sephora for our family photoshoot. Nothing too dramatic, my mom and I just wanted to look nice. Any thoughts or reviews for those who tried?

Can anyone else smell it? The forest is wet after the rain, so a wild fire is unlikely.

Are the fireworks visible from anywhere else?

We want to watch the fireworks show in a central park on Halloween but we don't want to deal with the crowds

I've read it's not visible from Burnaby mountain

Is there any other spots where we can watch them?

Whats the local Queer Community like?

Its been like 10+ years since being active in the LGBTQ+ community at all. Back then it felt like a majority of stuff was like late night or clubbing stuff. Or they're like super anti-child. But I prefer cozy day time stuff. (Bonus for crafty activities)

Ultimately, Im a disabled stay at home Mom and I am desperate to make some new local connections but I dont really know how. Other than other Moms at family events but that hasnt been working well for me. 😅

Residents near Lougheed and Rosser - did you hear the god awful SkyTrain noise all last night??

We got a notice to our strata that there would be SkyTrain testing at night until MARCH. Thus far, I hadn't heard anything but last night I was up all night! Super loud whizzing sounds and even with a sound machine on, I could almost feel reverberations like there was an earthquake. Doesn't help that it's happening while you're in and out of sleep. Looked at my clock and it was 3am 😭 didn't sleep all night.

I'm going to write to TransLink again, this is just getting insane. The skytrains have already gotten louder in this area since May for some reason. Translink gave some weird reason of grinding work which can cause slightly elevated noise for "2-3 weeks" and how sound can travel off buildings. My mind is just boggled how the train is getting louder after many years of normal SkyTrain sound.

Seriously folks, you can’t make a right turn into the parkade on a red light. The signage is clear, and red lights are not a new concept.

It’s getting dark earlier and I’m worried that someone is going to get hurt by some clueless driver making a right turn during the pedestrian only stage of the intersection.

The whole reason they put in the scramble crosswalk was to prevent pedestrians from being hit by cars.

And yes, I know the first photo is not during the pedestrian stage, but the light is still red for right turns and the sign above the light says no right turn on red.

Looking for Friends!

Female, 30, looking to make new friends. I find it super hard to find good, close friends these days. Everyone seems too blocked off, and don't want to engage.

Who I am: nice, understanding individual who loves to read romance, romantasy, fantasy and thriller books. I also play video games. I also love going to local shops especially if they have quirky unique things.

Looking for friends to check out local stores, hang out, read together and do fun things.

Pharmacists: Kenalog 10?

Hi. My Dr is a fan of this steroid which seems to no longer be made. Has anyone got the last vial in Burnaby?

Don’t worry mods it’s not something to get high. It’s for treating injuries. I’ve got an Rx but can’t fill it.
