Who does the voice for bad radio ads
It’s someone who does a horrible cranky wild sounding voice for fake radio ad promos that is like %50 off or something something and they start barely making sense and the producer stops them to make them redo it over and over but it’s like a horrible mangled accent I cannot search this anywhere

Stuart Maconie explores the BBC Archive and talks to guests to find out why JB Priestley fell out of fashion. He's hardly mentioned while Orwell is still lauded, yet he too wrote plays, essays and screenplays and was once almost as popular as Churchill thanks to his morale boosting BBC Postscripts.

New radio station launch!
Hey everyone!
If you're ever on the lookout for a new online radio station to stick on in the background, check out Mile Zero. It's a great independent station run by a bunch of passionate volunteer presenters keeping good music and live shows going around the clock.
I actually host the Saturday Breakfast show on there myself, so I might be a little biased, but it’s a brilliant little community!
You can stream live over at mileszero.live and come hang out with us on Discord at discord.gg/onair.
Drop by and say hi in the chat if you end up tuning in! 🎧

I’m looking for a good late night radio show
I’ve got a very specific criteria and hoping there’s something that comes close:
Starts at about 10pm
Plays some music
Has chat
Has phone ins that end up having people moaning about stuff, or engaging in particular talking points
The closest thing I had for a fair few years was Iain Lee’s late night alternative. But I can’t find anything these days.

Gulliver's Travels: A new adaptation by Ian Billings celebrating the 300th anniversary of Jonathan Swift’s satire. Some passages in this may be considered a bit rude so use judgement when sharing. Also see link in comment for 'Three Hundred Years of Gulliver's Travels' e1 'Unsuitable for Children.'

In Our Time: Ishtar was for 3500 years, the goddess of love, sex and war in Mesopotamia. Misha Glenny and enthusiastic researchers discuss this bloodthirsty, ambitious, and nurturing goddess. Martin Worthington says translation was fun since in this cuneiform a single sign could have many meanings.

Antigone
Dear All,
Just learned that there was a 2024 BBC Radio 3 adaptation of Jean Anouilh’s ‘Antigone’ with Sean Bean as Creon. Had a look on BBC Sounds but couldn’t find it.
Is anyone aware of other (legit) sources?
Many thanks.

BBC Daily Service to be broadcast at 0545 on BBC local radio
The BBC has confirmed that the Daily Service, which is moving from BBC Radio 4 Extra, to BBC local radio and BBC Sounds, will be broadcast at 0545. A BBC spokesperson said:“We know how much listeners value The Daily Service and it will continue to provide a daily act of Christian worship on BBC Sounds. From Spring 2027, it will be broadcast across all BBC Local Radio stations, Monday to Friday from 5.45am to 6am, when the audience reach is broadly comparable to Radio 4 Extra’s current audience at 9.45am. All episodes will also be available on BBC Sounds, so listeners can hear the programme at a time that suits them.”

Is there any way of tracking down the kids' magazine show Go 4 It (Radio 4, Sunday nights, 2001-2009)?
I enjoyed this programme when I was a child, and I was just the other day reminiscing about it on a different sub. Doesn't seem very remembered, but there were a few others who have fond recollections of it as well.
I wondered if there's anyone who has the episodes? There must be quite a lot of them because it ran for eight years and I think it was pretty continuous for all that time. I can't find much information on even who produced it.

The Ragged Trousered Philanthropists
I've been trying to trace the 'sequels' to this amazing piece of literature Mugsborough 1917, and Mugsborough 1927, in their broadcast play formats from the BBC.
Does anyone have any ideas, or a recording of either or both of them ?
It seems a shame the BBC don't currently have them available, and they're not captured from their broadcast days on the waybackmachine / internet archive. Even YouTube turned up a blank ☹️

Did anyone listen to The Huey Show on Sunday on Virgin?
It's not on catch-up - https://virginradio.co.uk/play/virginradiouk - unlike every single other show they've put out. The Saturday one is there. Wondering if he had a Danny Baker-style meltdown or something?

What local community radio stations do you listen to?
I used to love Star Radio Cambridge before it moved to Hits Radio in the last couple of years. GenX Radio Suffolk has been a good replacement for me
