Todd Phillips Go Fund Me

Todd Phillips, one of the most important bluegrass bass players of our generation, has a go fund me set up. He has a degenerative disease in his shoulder and can't work/play at this point. Please consider helping him out!

New Rule: No hate speech, religion, or politics

After a ton of inappropriate and childish comments today, we have added a new rule as noted in the post title. Honestly, it's LONG overdue. This sub is about bluegrass and our love of music. Do you want to argue politics? There are plenty of subs for that.

If the comments are kept civil and polite and related to bluegrass that will be fine:

"I don't like Ricky Skaggs because he preaches from stage"

But not:

"You're an @@#$$%$ for believing in X" or "F*ck you".

Not hard, right?

This is a little tag I use a lot which is a play off of some Tony Rice ideas. At full speed and then slow for anyone wanting to use it. Enjoy!

Discussion Hills of Mexico and Diamond Joe Similarity?

I recently stumbled upon Hills of Mexico. While a phenomenal a song, it has a whole verse from Diamond Joe. Why do both of these songs share a whole verse together? The lyrics work great for both, but it’s interesting to hear it in 2 songs

Bronwyn and her new band are picking up where Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway left off

For those of us who sorely miss the Molly Tuttle and Golden Highway era, I think Bronwyn and her band are bringing that same energy back! I always loved her vibe on stage with Molly but now she’s shining brighter than ever with her own band. I just got to see her set for the first time at Hangtime Festival last weekend and they were on fire!

They played mostly songs from her new album and it was amazing, her fiddling is always great but I have new appreciation for her vocal talents and her band can JAM!!! Her new band members are all incredible in their own right, Grant Dresnok on guitar, Frank Evans on banjo, Tristan Scroggins on mandolin and I didn’t catch the bass player’s name, but all stellar performers.

Highly recommend catching her show when you can, I think she's going to be the next big thing!

I am thoroughly convinced that anyone who doesn’t like Angeline the Baker just hasn’t figured out that it can be whatever you want it to be. That said, here’s my arrangement of it.

Wanted to share some of my favorite Bluegrass artists, who also happen to be from Michigan! Love everything Billy has done for not only the Bluegrass community, but also for some killer artists close to his hometown, especially after his festival in Ionia, MI… You can also make the argument that Greensky put Billy on the map by having Billy open for them back in the day, but you get the picture!!!

Billy > Greensky > Holly Bowling > Full Cord
