Miniatures Emperor
A little cleaner than how I normally paint my minis, but given its an Emperor and it would not be fielded as often due to its rarity, having a cleaner paint job makes sense

Attempted to update my BattleTech Buyer's Guide from years past for 2026.
Admittedly, it was impossible to not include a bunch of caveats in the graph itself, given that the line is in flux with the Core products only partially replacing what is in Total Warfare (and not explicitly invalidating them in the text, like Total Warfare did).
Props to the Catalyst Demo Team and some of the proofers of the Core Rulebook for their feedback on this diagram. I hope this helps people who are looking to get into the BattleTech tabletop games!
EDIT: Admittedly, I was more focused on the "classic" BattleTech elements and the state of the line when putting this together, since it's REALLY confusing right now. However, BattleTech Aces is also a thing and is an excellent expansion to the BattleTech: Alpha Strike line. Those boxes are a natural fit after buying either the Alpha Strike Box Set (as it is a dependency for the Aces boxes) or the Alpha Strike Commander's Edition rulebook.
EDIT 2: A slightly more updated version of the buyer's guide can be found here. This includes information about BattleTech: Aces in the admonitions and describes Alpha Strike as a faster-paced, larger-scale modern wargame instead of as a simplified ruleset.

Some Sword of Light and a C Scale Gothic Atlas this week. Really love the quality of the 100mm figs.

I don't have time to read it right now because I need to get to a doctor's appointment, but Liberty's poking around in the Inner Sphere Assault Lance ForcePack this week, with a look at the Pillager. Go check it out, and remember Maxim 1: Pillage, then burn!

These are a smaller format, but include the no section versions as well, six total. The Warhammer was recycled in the latest set of four.

We've had a lot of introtech "what ifs" on the sub in the last few days so here's one of mine. The Free Worlds League has a pretty well established PPC shortage during the succession wars so it would make sense for them to come up with a refit package like their 3M Marauder for the Warhammer: yank the particle cannons for large lasers, then backfill with heat sinks and armor. I did that, and then took some cues from the Vindicator SIC, replacing the SRM rack with an LRM-10 to add a bit of long range poke back to the frame.

Don't pay too much attention to the lance composition (extremely new player still overwhelmed by the sheer amount of options), just pretend it makes sense.

I'm mainly wondering about civilian megastructures like large scale space colonies or dome complexes

Personally, I think Gauss rifles are better suited to Inner Sphere 'Mechs.
I love seeing Inner Sphere 'Mechs bending over backwards to cram two or three Gauss rifles into their designs.
Honestly, I think mounting more than one Gauss rifle on a Clan 'Mech is a waste.
But I do think HAGs are great. Just give me a 'Mech armed with two HAG/40s.

Hello! I’m looking to grab either the beginner box or the essentials box this week and was wondering if people who have both could give their opinions on them. I’m leaning beginners box but where I’m at the essentials box is 25% off retail. Sorry if this kind of question is annoying but I like researching products before I buy them so I don’t end up with too much stuff.
I already have a force pack and have started painting them up, but realized I would rather have some random mechs to practice on before I tackle the minis I really like. Planning on attending a casual campaign next week and this seems like a cheap investment I could use to familiarize myself with the basics. I plan to get AGOAC only if I decide to stick with the game long term.
I personally like being lore accurate, and lean IS/mercs over clans. Looking for opinions on:
- which box gives better “universal mechs” I can slot into future forces
- which maps are better/more useful long term
- usefulness of the other paper contents for either box
Also:
- I loveee the black python/white raven, lore-wise what’s the best way to build a force with it without playing as a clan?
Thank you!

In April I submitted a story to the Shrapnel Magazine, I'm curious if others have had such a significant turn around time? I've seemed advice from this reddit before about short stories so was curious if others had also had issues. Screenshot added. Its been under review 198 days but the average response is 45? And still 25 people ahead of me and that's been stuck for a while.

1/2 of my force finished and organized into actual stars for a future campaign.

Hi, running a battle tech RPG and I had a question. Are aerodyne drop ships able to hover drop their payload of Mechs, and fly away with out ever having to touchdown as depicted in Mac Warrior five? What I’ve been able to read via the actual lore is that they need a runway.

The Shadow Hawk IIC! Personally I find it to be one of if not the most aesthetically pleasing of the IIC glow ups. I really like the head in particular as it reminds me of a Leo from Gundam Wing. This fella is mech number 50 in my DCMS Battalion+ collection - 2 mechs short of a square battalion with a handful of options at my disposal. Unfortunately I am not quite sure how much time I will have available to me to round out my DCMS as I've got WoW Forever in a week plus Snowblind qill have me swap gears back to my Ghost Bears for the 8 mechs in there plus a Clan Cavalry box (I'm lacking in second line units since my CGB collection was driven by the 3052 RAT which was most full of frontline Omnis) as well as some loose single mechs (Kontio, Wendigo, Blood Asp, and a few others to make another star from the Core Box.) Let me know as always what you think but this one may be the last new DCMS mech for a while tho I may try and push to get 2 more mechs done to round things out - thinking a shrapnel inspired sword wielding Hatchetman 5K kitbash thats already underpainted and one more maybe a Firestarter or something else.
