Question Palmdale mattress store warranties, what actually voids them?

About to spend real money so I sat down and read the warranty, which nobody does, which is probably why everybody's got a horror story. Near as I can tell you can void a 10 year warranty by taking the law tag off, getting one stain on it, using the wrong base, or having a sag that's a quarter inch short of whatever they decide counts as a defect. Am I reading that right or am I just being paranoid? Mostly I want to know if anyone out here has had a claim paid without a fight. Not trying to catch anyone out, I'd just like to know what I'm buying before I sign. Sit 'n Sleep handed me the whole warranty document when I asked, which is what got me reading it in the first place.

Question How can someone realistically make $100K+ a year without a college degree?

Hey everyone! I'm 22 years old, a father, and someone who's genuinely trying to build a better future for my family.

I'm curious to hear from people who have managed to make six figures ($100K+) a year without having a college degree.

I'm not looking for a get-rich-quick scheme or easy money. I'm willing to work hard, learn new skills, earn certifications, start a business, or spend a year or two learning a trade if it means building a solid career.

I'm open to pretty much anything, including:

Skilled trades or apprenticeships

Starting or owning a business

Online businesses or remote work

Sales or commission-based careers

Technical industries or specialized certifications

Industries most people don't even know about

I currently work full-time and have experience in transportation, mechanical work, and hands-on technical jobs. I'm mechanically inclined and enjoy learning new things.

My biggest question is: If you make six figures without a college degree, what do you do, and how did you get there?

How long did it take? What did you have to learn? How much did it cost to get started? And if you were starting over at 22 with a family to support, what would you do differently?

I'm not expecting to make $100K overnight. I just want to find an industry with real growth potential where hard work, experience, and skills can eventually lead to financial stability and freedom.

I'd genuinely appreciate any advice, personal experiences, or recommendations. I'm based in California, but I'd love to hear from people anywhere in the country.

Thank you in advance!

News Palmdale council: 3-2 vote on new city attorney (contract cut to 1 year), new building for SAVES, unclaimed-check sweep on hold

Palmdale's council hired an outside law firm as city attorney on a 3-2 vote — but only after cutting the contract from four years to one. The same night, the council bought a 13,000-sq-ft building for a new SAVES facility, with a $6.43M federal loan for construction also on the agenda — SAVES now serves about 6,000 people a year. And if the city owes you money, a plan to sweep unclaimed checks into the general fund is on hold.

A charter school opened in Lancaster in September 2023 with about 100 kids. By December it was closed, and prosecutors now say its founder had already moved more than $150,000 to himself, his business and his partner.

He's charged with five felonies and due back in court Nov. 16.

The timeline, what the money allegedly paid for, and what he faces:

General Interest Looking for Hiking buddy's

I want to start by saying that I’m married and am looking for female friends to go hiking with. I’m David, I’m 39, and I live in Palmdale. I’m getting back into my health journey after recovering from two knee surgeries and being on medical leave for almost a year. I spent much of that time at home and started feeling depressed, but I’m gradually getting out of that mindset. My wife actually encouraged me to post this. She travels for work and is going to school to finish her degree, so we only get to see each other once a week if we're lucky. Most of our evenings involve lots of video calls. I’ve tried finding male buddies, but I’ve met some people who were involved with drugs, which isn’t a good fit for me. If you’d like to go hiking or kayaking, let me know! It could also be a group outing if you have friends who’d like to join.

News LA County's sales tax is now 10.25% after Measure ER took effect Oct. 1, and many cities are at 11% or higher

Your receipts got a little longer this week. Some cities in LA County are now paying close to 12%.

The catch: the county can't spend a cent of the new money yet, and it could stay frozen for years.

Here's what's taxed, what's not, and what happens if a court kills it.

News Two men found buried on remote Lancaster property identified as Ricky Phillips, 61, and Edward Perez, 46; both were reported missing in September

The two men found buried on a remote 15-acre property in Lancaster now have names. Both had been reported missing in September, weeks before deputies started digging.

The search is over. But how they died, whether they knew each other, and whether anyone on that land is tied to the case are still unanswered.

What we know so far, and what investigators still aren't saying:

Help! Lost Siamese Cat with black patches!

Post image
10 Upvotes

LAST SEEN: Near Almador Court and Redington in Palmdale, CA, in the Marquis neighborhood near Highland High School.

Our sweet girl Ahsoka Catano has been missing since Friday evening, and we are absolutely beside ourselves. She is a Siamese kitten, almost 1 year old, with bright blue eyes and distinctive mottled markings on her face and legs. She is incredibly sweet and very loved.

Ahsoka loves to adventure and spend time outside, but she normally comes home when I shake her can of treats. Since she disappeared, we have been searching constantly. I have been putting flyers throughout the neighborhood, canvassing door to door with the help of some wonderful friends, driving and walking the area while calling for her and shaking treats, posting in local groups, and contacting shelters, rescues, veterinarians, schools, churches, and local businesses. Miles and I even took her brother Anakitten through the neighborhood at night in a crate in a wagon, hoping he might call out and help her find her way home.

She previously had an AirTag on her collar, but unfortunately it was lost during one of her recent adventures, so we cannot track her. Her microchip company has been notified that she is missing. Please keep comments supportive and focused on helping us find her. We are already worried sick and just want our baby home safe.

To make an already horrible situation worse, we have also had multiple scammers contact us trying to extort money. One person even had me drive to Walmart claiming they had Ahsoka, then demanded $100 and sent a convincing AI-generated image of her supposedly sitting in a kennel. We have also been contacted by questionable “drone search” organizations that appear to have barely existed for a month. It is heartbreaking and disgusting that people prey on families who are already terrified and desperate to find their pets.

If you have seen Ahsoka or have ANY information about where she may be, please call or text 626-641-6108. Even a possible sighting could help us narrow down where she is.
