First of all, let me make one thing clear hating, liking, disliking or loving a character is entirely a matter of personal preference. Making funny memes about fictional characters is perfectly normal, too.

The problem arises when images of real-life criminals are used in funny memes. In other words, the people making these memes seem to think that including Epstein will help their posts get more reach. Disgusting. 🤢

Now, what does any of this have to do with fiction? How can someone make a post like this in a local anime community in my country, when we aren't even Westerners?

In my country, actual r@pi*ts get released from prison. Despite being a South Asian country, there are far too many people here who think that fiction and reality are the same thing. A fictional character receives more hate here than an actual criminal does.

Isekai losers fall for the first girl who doesn’t stab them. Seinen still has awkward softies overthinking every conversation. Sports anime has teammates catching feelings mid-match. Mecha pilots get flustered in the cockpit. Even horror and dark fantasy throw in some stuttering crush nonsense.
