Mitosis in Houdini: from a whole cell to molecular machinery and back
I finished a narrated mitosis film built as an editable Houdini scene. The camera moves from a whole human cell into chromosomes and molecular machinery, then returns to the two daughter cells.
Claude helped build the scene through Python. I split the work into scene components, then used separate review passes to inspect renders and measurements before revising the setup. The useful part of this workflow was being able to change the underlying geometry and animation after each review.
Protein-structure data informed the close-ups. The motion is staged for scientific storytelling, with compressed timing and schematic components identified on screen; it is not a molecular-dynamics simulation. I recorded the narration myself, and Drew Berry’s WEHI work was a major inspiration.

I’d welcome feedback on the scale transitions and readability of the chromosome sequence.
