ama 12pm I'm Hafsah Faizal, bestselling author of WE HUNT THE FLAME. Ask me anything!
Hey Reddit! I'm Hafsah Faizal, award-winning and bestselling author of WE HUNT THE FLAME and WE FREE THE STARS, which released last week, and the upcoming A TEMPEST OF TEA. I write fantasy for upper young adult, though I do like to consider my work to be good crossover material for those in search of adult fantasy with younger protagonists!
I was born in Florida, raised in Los Angeles, and now live in Dallas. I'm a Forbes 30 Under 30 honoree, and when I'm not writing, I can be found running my company, IceyDesigns, trying to find time to play video games (I'm a huge Assassin's Creed fan—as you can probably tell if you've read my books!) or read a book. Funny how I've had so much less time for reading now that I'm a writer! You can find me online @hafsahfaizal on Instagram or Twitter, and my website, www.hafsahfaizal.com. If you'd like to explore the world of Arawiya (or maybe need a glossary), head over to www.wehunttheflame.com!
So ask me about WE HUNT THE FLAME! WE FREE THE STARS! A TEMPEST OF TEA! Writing! World-building! Anything!

How are people treating You wearing a Niqab? There's been a lot of tensions in recent years between most of the races. Just wondering if it changed or stayed the same. Thanks for the AMA.

I know you said they’re for upper young adult readers but I loved We Hunt The Flame and I’m an actual adult😂
Anyway, do you ever see yourself trying to branch off into other genres of fiction?

What’s the craziest thing that’s happened to you since We Hunt the Flame got released? Was it 30 under 30 or Time 100 Best Fantasy, meeting a specific author, or something completely different??

I know Tempest of Tea and We Hunt the Flames takes place in the same universe, will there be mentions of WHTF characters in ToT?
I just want to make sure everyone is still okay and getting the hugs they deserve!

Would you say this tends to air towards romantic fiction set in Arabia or a fantasy in an Arabian type setting? I’d be more intrigued by the later and I’m always looking for a new female fantasy writer. I also absolutely love the artwork.

I remember you mentioning that there would be a small start to a new romantic couple in your instagram asks and I think I know who you meant, so is there a chance that you will be writing a book with the characters we already met?
