See you guys in two years!

111

u/mrsinatra777 Apr 21 '20

And I hope all the actors are around in two or three years when they finish this up. Some are getting long in the tooth and it would be really difficult to finish the story without them.

112

u/Mushroomman642 Apr 21 '20

Yeah, it would be a real shame if something happened to Jonathan Banks in particular. Without him I don't think they could make a final season at all.

Assuming the original plan was to release season 6 next year in 2021, there's no way there will be anything besides a several month delay (not a whole year). If by the end of this year we can't be doing smaller scale television production, we've got much bigger problems than Lalo does ATM

Wait, did I miss this announcement? Two years until season 6? I'm crushed.

106

u/Rebel_Porcupine Apr 21 '20

It wasn't announced but given the break between s4 and s5, coupled with covid, I think easily 2 years. Hope I'm wrong, but that's how it's looking

I don't know why people think this. Season 6 has only been in the writing room for a couple months. They couldn't have started filming until this fall at the very earliest anyway. It will be fine.

Whelp, Nacho is fucked in three years when the show returns.

1.1k

u/skinkbaa Apr 21 '20

Lalo is walking back to America, very slowly and will catch up to Nacho in 3 years.

It Follows 2: Lalo’s Boogaloo

36

u/SlamwellBTP Apr 21 '20

And he'll tell Jimmy a story about having to drink his own pee when he gets there

29

u/runeks Apr 21 '20

Jimmy: “tell it again”

31

u/ImADuckOnTuesdays Apr 21 '20

The trip from Chihuahua to Albuquerue is 547 miles.

3 years (including one leap year) is 1096 days. That means Lalo needs to walk .499 miles per day.

His walking speed will be .02 miles per hour, or 105.6 feet.

The average men's step is 31 inches. That comes out to 40 steps per hour, or fewer than one step per minute.

That is indeed very slow.

17

u/Wereallgonnadieman Apr 21 '20

Ya mean he isn't going to sleep for 3 years? Man, this guy is formidable, to say the least!!

26

u/marcelowit Apr 21 '20

In all seriousness, I expect Lalo to sit at Nachos home with his dead father on the floor when Nacho arrives.

"Come in Nacho, let's finish that drink..."

10

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '20

Lalo's wound is going to slow him down but make no mistake he will not stop until he reaches the border.

Just imagine him like this for the next few years:

1

If it's 3 years in BCS time then we might be past BB which could be interesting.

1

u/Chicaben Apr 22 '20

Why does everyone keep saying three years?

4

u/cb3r1ynx Apr 22 '20

Well, if it took a year and a half for this season to come out, imagine how long it's going to take for the next season with this pandemic.

"It wasn’t me, it was Ignacio. He’s the one!"

Looks like we got more context on what Saul was saying now.

359

u/neck_crow Apr 21 '20

I was thinking about that, but Saul has no clue what happened, and Lalo would have literally no reason to think it was Saul. Saul would have no reason to believe that Lalo would think it’s him.

Something else will happen, surely. Saul thinks Lalo is dead.

So you’re telling me this whole time we’ve been seeing hinged Lalo with something to lose?

AND NOW WE HAVE THE OPPOSITE?!

1.1k

u/joec_95123 Apr 21 '20

Lalo before now: "It's nothing personal, it's just business."

Lalo after now: "I'm gonna murder your whole fucking family."

584

u/Searcharama2 Apr 21 '20

Lalo kept his family at the Laloplex out in the middle of nowhere to try to get around, or at least delay, the fact that you will lose something important in the business.

Now the Laloplex is destroyed, as is his family. It's absolutely personal

What also makes him scary is that he is super observant and clever. He notices the smallest little detaisl and sherlock holmes the entire thing. When he saw the drink intact, he probably figured out the whole thing down to Nacho jumping on roofs and blowing up restaurants for Fringe.

A year after El Camino, Kim is the DA thanks to her pro bono legal work and political maneuvers where she sabotages the other candidates. The Skyler White trial is still going strong because Kim doesn't give a shit about the bodies and wants to take Skyler and her stupid fish face down, going so far as to threaten to put Holly in an orphanage.

Skyler grits her teeth as she straps C4 to Walter Jr's crutches. 'No half measures' she says as Flynn calls Kim to schedule a new testimony.

4

I feel like Mike would have done a better job.

15

u/A2daRon Apr 21 '20

Is there a reason why Mike didn't kill him when he was going back to Mexico?

54

u/Deathinski Apr 21 '20

Gus would be blamed if Lalo died while in the US. Killing him after he went home would leave him plausible deniability. Gus can just tell Eladio : "Hey, he already left. Why would I kill him now? He's in his lair in Mexico, not even I can get to him there".

20

u/IndigenousOres Apr 21 '20
  1. Too obvious

  2. Lalo was going to meet with Don Eladio

  3. Gus needed Nacho to be in charge of running operations North of the border

1

u/spinyfur Mar 04 '24

Imperial storm troopers would do a better job than those clowns.

0

u/[deleted] Apr 22 '20

44

u/jennywhistle Apr 22 '20

It was so obnoxiously clumsy, it's almost bad writing. I'll let it slide, but it does feel like the writers made Lalo survive, rather than him surviving from organic means. I fully expected Nacho to tip Lalo off in some way without exposing himself, realizing Gus wasn't going to let him go and that he could get some kind of freedom under Don Eladio directly.

51

52

He's 73 but looks well into his 80s to me. Gus is also looking old as fuck, I hope they are much healthier than they look.

28

u/BarristanTheeBold Apr 21 '20

The way Gus was walking in that scene with Mike, really showed his age. The slouch was real

40

u/BigCj34 Apr 22 '20

The limitations of a prequel to a series that started in 2008. Making people at least 12 years younger is a challenge!

20

u/bongbird Apr 23 '20

Don Eladio looks old too

49

u/tommyjohnpauljones Apr 21 '20

honestly put Jonathan Banks in Mike's actual house, with daily no-contact deliveries of pimento cheese sandwiches and Busch Light, and free streaming of old movies, until this blows over. America needs him.

17

u/supremegay5000 Apr 22 '20

He appears in so many shows I like and I love him so damn much. He was in Parks and Rec, Community and both of these amazing shows. He’s just great.

12

u/tommyjohnpauljones Apr 22 '20

6

25

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '20

This is my huge fear. So many older actors on this show..

7

u/Blue_Persuasion Apr 21 '20

Same. I just hope filming can begin as soon as humanly possible.

11

u/number90901 Apr 21 '20

Really just Banks. And he's only in his 70s, a healthy male who reaches 73 can reasonably expect to live deep into his 80s.

12

u/Jeffy29 Apr 21 '20

No half measures.

36

u/tryintofly Apr 21 '20

If something did happen- god forbid but the man is a million years old- it wouldn't affect the story too much. We know what happens to him, he could be off screen (in theory) and still line up to take his place in canon. I'm not saying that's preferable, but they waited too long and hedged their bets. I would've preferred if they had come back in 2019, and the last season just finished filming.

68

u/NiftWatch Apr 21 '20

S6 E1: Kimmy and Jimmy are planning another scheme, they need a PI.

“Where’s your guy? You said he was really reliable.”

“He says he’s on a sabbatical. He won’t come back until I call him to clean up a heroin overdose scene.”

→ More replies (1)

23

u/Gorillapatrick Apr 21 '20

It would affect the story though... he is a major character and certainly will have important parts in the script that Gilligan probably has already written.

If something happens to him, a lot will have to be rewritten and we wouldn't see the original vision of Gillian anymore.

His facial expression at the end, he's ready for WAR

59

u/Sempere Apr 21 '20

We can kind of infer that his plan doesn't succeed for a few reasons.

Right now, Jimmy thinks Lalo is dead - but in Breaking Bad, he distinctly believes Lalo is alive and active: Gus wouldn't be in the dark if Saul were aware of Lalo being alive due to the Mike connection. So Lalo likely overplays his hand while going scorched earth despite having the advantage/element of surprise on his side. While he could theoretically lay low (ha) and bide his time, it would be a stretch to find a way to have his survival go unnoticed by Gus but not by Saul in this situation.

I'd also guess that the first part of the final season's focus will not be Lalo going after Gus directly, but instead hunting for Nacho. Nacho probably ends up begging Saul for help in disappearing - maybe also for him to not tell Mike (because Nacho would have an easier time disappearing successfully if Gus and Mike think he fulfilled his end of the bargain).

I suspect that the flashforward's payoffs lead to a final trial and Jimmy needing to basically defend his life choices only to desperately need character witnesses.

50

u/Curvedabullet Apr 21 '20

I feel bad for him. He is insanely paranoid, even if his cool demeanor covers it. He doesn't sleep. Juan Bolsa even tried to keep Lalo in prison to protect Gus' flow of income to the Cartel. Lalo knows how cutthroat and calculating Cartel life is, which is why he doesn't have anyone he can trust. And now he just had his paranoia justified by being betrayed by the one person he was trying to trust.

25

u/Raknel Apr 21 '20

Scariest part? Gus and Nacho will think he's dead because of the call he forced the hitman to make. Lalo can just ambush them any moment.

13

u/[deleted] Apr 21 '20

I've been waiting for Scary Lalo all season, and goddamn, did he show up. I fear for anyone and everyone who crosses his path next season

We waited 4 seasons to find out when Jimmy became Saul. Turns out, we were asking the wrong question.

It's amazing how prior to S5, practically everyone in this sub was predicting that Kim would become disgusted with Saul's antics and leave him when in reality the EXACT OPPOSITE is playing out before us right now. It makes me a little afraid because the chance of Kim leaving on her own terms is slowly dwindling while the possibility of something terrible happening to her as a result of her (and Jimmy's) inability to control themselves.

It's actually crazy how Kim is now working backwards in her career given how much she has achieved and what she did to make it to where she was at.

She wouldn't let him. Here he is thinking he's 'broke too bad for her' and she's over here trying to make him go even more bad!

The worst part about all this. Nacho is gonna go home, expect to finally be out of the game. Tell his dad he's done and then Lalo's gonna show back up and murder him right in front of him.

That whole scene made me feel like the job interviews I've had where I immediately decide I hate the place.
