Dear Shreddit: Where can I get good prices on snowboarding gear?

As the winter season gets underway in North America, we've been seeing a lot of posts asking "Where can I get good prices on gear". Here's the beginning of a list. I'm going to sticky this post and put it in the sidebar below the FAQ.

I'm sure I've missed a few but thought I'd get the ball rolling. Feel free to add anything I might've missed below in the comments.

As a reminder, your local shop will probably cut you a bro deal if you're a regular customer, it never hurts to call and ask for price match when comparing versus the large website/warehouse stores!

Gear & Stuff

  • Evo.com - these guys have a great price match policy, and a good selection of used and closeout equipment.
  • REI.com - 100% satisfaction guaranteed even if you've used/abused it, plus members get 10% dividend!
  • PRFO Sports - Canadian ski, snowboard, bike & camping retailer based in Quebec since 1989.
  • Eastern Mountain Sports - New England based retailer of all things snowsports, camping, hiking & climbing equipment.
  • Berg's Ski & Snowboard - Family-run business out of Eugene, Oregon specializing in ski & snowboard gear & backcountry gear.
  • Moosejaw - Probably located next to the Urban Outfitters at your local mall.
  • Christy Sports - Colorado-based retailer of ski, snowboard and patio equipment. Seriously. Patio equipment. Diversified, I guess.
  • The-House.com - another warehouse store, lots of inventory usually

Lift Ticket & Passes

  • Liftopia - discounts on lift tickets to many resorts in North America.

  • If your resort isn't on Liftopia, your best bet is to buy in advance from the resort website, many resorts offer discounts ranging from 10-30% or more if you buy advance lift tickets. Never pay the window rate if you can avoid it!

In order to keep this thread clean & functional I'm going to delete duplicates & any comments that aren't on-topic. Don't take it personally!

Hey Guys, I saw that this one wasn't mentioned http://www.snowboards.net They carry everything from all the major brands but they also carry some inexpensive stuff and some cheap packages too.

Shout out to one of my local shops!

One of their guys writes/contributes on my site, too. Cool company, cool people for sure.

Trusnow.com (Formerly SierraSnowboard) always has great deals....clearance sales there are amazing.

FYI Sierra went bankrupt and got in to a bit of legal trouble over violating contracts with the manufacturers last winter. The-house.com bought them out this summer.

Those sales (anyone remember the $99 snowboards? or the 70% off sales?) are not coming back. So expect pricing more in line with what you expect from the-house.com which IMO is not any better than anywhere else on the internet.

James, revert and myself have been working on a site to help answer this question :D

Snowboard Finder

EDIT 21-Jan-2017: I took Snowboard Finder down because the data was out of date. I'm currently working on a better site that keeps the data updated automatically

This is an awesome time saver!

Are there any plans to add more websites to the list? This post would be a great place to start.

I've used Sideways People before.

bought some stuff from them years ago and then their site was under construction for a while and kinda stopped looking at them. For me, they're local (in-state) so I had to pay 6% sales tax. Just checked them again it seems they are an affiliate site now so I don't even know if they have their own warehouse anymore. Just FYI.

hey guys how does the REI guarantee work? I can actually take out the board on a run and see if i like it? if i don't , i'm able to take back to the store??

yeah you can return anything you buy at REI even if you used it. I think you have to be a member (which costs $20 for lifetime) and I think there might be a 1-year timeframe during which you can make the return, but yes, even if you've used the equipment my understanding is that you can return it.

BTW - with REI, if you buy it and they change the price on the product within 30 days, you can get a refund for the difference. This happened to me when I bought a pair of Electric EG2s for $140. The next day they dropped to $70.

I went to customer service and they gave me the $70 difference back without any hastle.

Yeah REI is pretty sweet. I wish I had been there when EG2s were that cheap. When I was there they didn't have any EG2s so I must've been too late...

I love this website. It often has sales and free shipping offers. If you wait until off season stuff goes on sale like crazy. Action Village.

I didn't see this so I thought I would add it. It's similar to GearScan in how it lists links to deal of the day sites but lists more sites than GearScan.

I'm picking up the torch of u/raarky and giving this another shot with Slope Gear Scout. Any feedback is appreciated :)
