Busta Rhymes trying to go Bruce Lee on Michael Myers. Hard to ever forget that.

I saw this in theaters at the age of 12 or 13 and even then, I knew this movie was terrible. It's such a sad thing too, since Halloween is my all-time favorite movie and, by extension, the Halloween franchise is my favorite horror series.

It's one of those weird things where it's not any one thing that made the movie bad, it's so many things.

First, Michael should be hunting John from H20 after killing Laurie.

Second, all of the characters were terrible. Shouldn't there be at least one interesting character so you hope they don't get killed?

Then there is all of the technical stuff: Michael's angry mask, bad slow-mo shots, the lipstick cameras with their 240p-ish video quality. The thing that angered me the most for some reason was during the very beginning. When Michael tries to break through Laurie's door, you see from Michael's POV that he hits the door a few times. But the shot of him walking up to the door and the shot of him breaking it are the exact same shot! They just included that very brief POV to, what, make Michael more human or something?

The appearance of Michael's hair bothered me too. While chasing Laurie, Michael's hair is spiked up, but as soon as he's on the roof (and for the rest of the movie, I believe) his hair is slicked back. As you can see.

Anyone who says Rob Zombie ruined the franchise should take a look back and realize there wasn't much left to ruin.

" Shouldn't there be at least one interesting character so you hope they don't get killed?"
That's where you hit the problem.
It was the early 2000s that producers realised audiences for horror films were bloodythirsty - and commonly, not exactly film enthusiasts. It was from here you'll notice most horror flicks sink into having all their characters written as unlikeable, shallow 2D blobs - so they can kill them all in horrible ways, in order to elicit excited responses from their jaded, desensitised audiences. It's really obvious if you watch the 'Final Destination' movies degrade into 'guess the horrible death' parodies of horror films.
Remember when there was a character we cared for, and felt genuine peril for their safety? Yeah, not as profitable.

For everyone that said Rob Zombie runied the Halloween francise I would like to point them to this film. This is the Jason X of the series for sure.

More fun than a poke in the eye, less fun than a punch to the gonads... But seriously... Redeeming qualities... It did end. It had credits and everything, so it's technically a real movie. The writer made money, probably enough to put a kid through college, so that's nice. I support that. All in all, give it 2 squirts of chocolate syrup in a glass of milk.

This movie has a particularly bad aesthetic to it, like an episode of Dawson's Creek. Bad stage lighting, static cinematography, poor pacing...I shouldn't even have to mention the of-it's-time chest camera shit they try. Michael is particularly un-scary in this one, as well. Definitely one of the bottom two in the Halloween series.

Although this is probably the worst in the Halloween series, we did get one of the most gleefully campy lines in the history of horror.

TRICK OR TREAT, MOTHA FUCKA! - Busta Rhymes

Say what you will about the actual quality and forced attempts to be cool and connect to the 00's generation, but dammit if I find this movie on t.v. I do not change the channel. That Kung Fu scene is the stuff of bad movie legend.

Terrible. You can't tease by having Tyra Banks in your slasher movie and then NOT kill her...
