there's no other way to explain it, kakashi knows some witchcraft. or he has the world's greatest sleight of hand and removed the mask faster than the human eye can see.

nice to see good ol' gluttonous choji again. super expanded butterfly mode is still beastly.

it's cool to see mirai learn about asuma bit by bit through the old gen characters. i honestly was never big a fan of asuma, but seeing him again through these flashbacks is nice. his king analogy was always something that stucky with me from naruto, and i like that it's being passed to mirai soon

I really appreciated the light heartedness of the episode as well as seeing Mirai learn more about her father and herself. I’m real curious to see what’sup with the Resurrection Springs. Maybe it’s a place where chakra connects, or maybe someone is manipulating chakra there. Maybe there’s a connection to that and the missing girls mentioned in the episode?

I was thinking the other day when would the "King" gets mentioned to Mirai, and it came up in today's episode!! What I didn't anticipate is the possibility for a meeting between Asuma and Mirai through a special hot spring. I hope this happens in the next episode, even if it was for a moment.

Is it me or does Tatsumi look like she could be a Yamanaka?

I don't recall Choji's voice ever changing when he goes skinny. Not sure what that was all about. I wonder how the Dub will handle it.

I know this is played as a joke but Choji not being able to function because he didn't eat potato chips for 30minutes is some dumb shit which makes him the most useless Ninja ever. This is literally these people's livelihood Choji get your shit together.

Can't say i'm a fan of the idea of an resurrection spring, although i feel like it might be one of those things that might end up being just a rumor. altought in this universe it probably wouldn't be too crazy of an idea.

personally i wish Mirai would keep learning about her father through interactions with people that knew him while he was alive

Sorry I’m late my cat took me for a walk, I had to peel my weight in potatoes.

- Woah that preview pic looks like Shikamaru during Shippuden. Weird. But this Episode is about Choji. Maybe it’s a flashback.

- So I’ve binge watched the last three episodes again during the week and I noticed something in the opening: during the big fight scene when Boruto makes the rasengan we see just his arm for a brief moment. At first I thought it might be an animation error but I’m increasingly sure it’s intentional. The sleeve first looks like Minato’s. Blue with two white stripes tying it close to the arm. Then it changes to fishnet. I think that’s supposed to represent Jiraya. Then it changes to Narutos Part 1 outfit. They always love to celebrate the rasengan being passed down like this and it seems they sneakily incorporate it in a blink and you miss it sequences in the opening.

- I’m looking forward to an episode with Choji and Kakashi. Both are people who listen to other people and are quite in tune with emotional needs. I don’t think they had many scenes together before so I hope that will be nice.

- And I think I hold the record for most verbose pre episode comment now :P

- Oh dear and there is Chuunin Shikamaru playing Shogi with Asuma. The nostalgia.

- Is it me or does Asuma have a new voice actor? Sounds different.

- Good move to show the Boruto audience where the riddle originated that Shikamaru gave Mirai before she set off for this misson. Good way to get to know Asuma’s parenting philosophy.

- Makes me hope we’ll get to see Itachi again at one point.

- Also now that I’ve gotten used to adult Konohamaru there’s definitely a strong family resemblance there.

- I love Shikamaru randomly staring at a Shogi piece in his office. No Shogi board in sight. Such a Nara thing to do.

.

- My. Here Kakashi is all arc going on and on and on about how much Mirai is similar to Asuma and she still doesn’t say she takes after both parents :P

- Lol Kakashi and Guy are still like little children on the school yard. … Once the wheelchair is discarded.

- So … what a random mountain sized boulder fell from the sky? Do we know what Madara is up to these days?

- Lol Guy is still carrying his backpack on his foot while walking on his hands. Like a normal civilian. Nothing to see here. He was so restrained for the first few episodes (assassination of Nenu the god of destruction notwithstanding) I did wonder if we’d see more YOUTH.

- That villager sure seems gregarious inviting such a rag tag groups (including two very young females hmmm) for a drink.

- I have a feeling Kakashi squirrels the alcohol away somehow and Guy will loose spectacularly.

- Guy seems to be completely knocked out. That sure was quick.

- I love how they discuss asking Fire Country for help with the last Hokage among them like that.

- Seems Mirai doesn’t quite see the humor :P

- The villagers sure all seem like really nice people.

- … It sure would be SUPER handy if one of those guys had a funny eye that could suck boulders in right about now, huh?

- So now they openly discuss missions and stuff in front of the little civilian girl? They are about as good at under cover as Konohamaru is at not letting stone know he’s a Konoha shinobi.

.

- What an entrance for dear old Choji, I’m not sure he’s ever been celebrated like this.

- Now I wonder if Choji crawled the last distance to the boulder :P

- It’s some real shinobi magic how they can just touch and eat steaming potatoes like that. As a fellow potato addict I want in.

- Yummy drinking oil. Nothing like it. I get the impression Mirai isn’t a foodie. I can’t quite put my finger on why tho.

- Ah she confirms it herself. Well good she kept the civilian girl around.

- Oh Choji, lying on the ground like some martyr but having enough energy to lecture the girls about potato chip cooking. … smh

- I’m getting Naruto flashbacks how he trash talked Sasuke to Sarada.

- Oh will we now learn the mystery of why the current team 10 doesn’t have a sarutobi sensei?

- … With all this blast from the past talk won’t the potato chips burn?

- Well I guess with an Akimichi around that won’t happen.

.

- And now dear Mirai witness the true power of calories!

- I love how Choji maximised foot slides just besides Kakashi and Kakashi just keeps casually standing there.

- These scenes that focus on a collective making things happen always get me.

- Oh wait the villagers PULL? That … uhm … sounds like a sure fire way to become a pancake.

- We probably get more insight into what Choji was like as a genin now that we did when he actually was a genin.

- I really like genin choji, I can’t help but sympathise with his confidence issues. They really portray that well.

- Oh I see, now they are getting to that part of the novel. This went by fast.

- The little girl knew what she was doing didn’t she? Talking about this onsen while Mirai is alone., the change in her facial expressions is quite curious too.

Sadly still not many Kakashi/Choji scenes or Kakashi scenes at all but I still liked the episode. As formulaic as it was.
