Season 8 looks like it could be interesting. No side characters, no dead weight, just 10 episodes of Amell

The entire time Felicity was saying goodbye to her kids, it sounded super suicidal. I would be freaking out if my mom talked like that.

Oliver dies.

Barry disappears.

The Crisis is going to be intense, & I hope Batwoman & the Legends are going to be a part of it as well.

The next season could possibly the best one yet. Oliver and the Monitor traveling throughout the multiverse in order to stop the crisis. That has so much potential! They could visit alternate earths with cameos from already existing characters (barry, kara, sara, etc.) and characters who have died (Moira, Robert, etc.). (Hoping for a Smallville cameo since its probably the best time for it besides crisis)

The show will probably still have some sort of "earth of the week" structure unless it goes full serialized storytelling with it all building towards crisis. While this episode was really sloppy, the ending really holds a lot of promise.

That was A LOT of CGI for an episode of Arrow. They must have been saving up.

I enjoyed the episode, and really enjoyed how it ended, trying it back into Elseworlds. I like any time they acknowledge the greater Arrowverse on the show, and this was a big one. This has to mean that Oliver plays a bigger than usual part in Crisis On Infinite Earths, and might even be given a send-off similar to....well....something else that happened in a movie I recently saw. (Not sure of spoiler policy, so I'll leave it at that.)

Did they really let some random ass chick kill Emiko and act like it had some emotional payoff? Then they do absolutely nothing but have her run away. the fuck...

I'm pretty sure the finale is that Felicity lets everyone believe that Oliver died but in reality he goes on to become the protector of the multiverse

Only cool parts were Bronze Tiger and the stuff with the Monitor.

Emiko stuff was a bust.

51

u/Ridry May 14 '19

I could watch an episode of Bronze Tiger slashing crap. All in favor??

7

u/_DrShrimpPuertoRico_ May 15 '19

That was fucking cool!

1

u/Redeemer206 May 16 '19

Yeah I just wish they added blood with his slashes instead of waiting until everyone was defeated to just rub some of the fake blood on half of the claws in perfect rows

3

u/Pandemona1738 Jun 03 '19

A great character for me as well, shame he just came and went in that season a lot. Hoping something happens with him somewhere else.

1

u/Ridry Jun 03 '19

He really should die at some point. They set it up.

102

u/DonnyMox May 14 '19

R.I.P. Emiko Queen

They fucking pulled a Darth Vader with her.

54

u/iwishiwasamoose May 14 '19

Darth Vader betrayed his master to save his son, and he died in the process.

Emiko was betrayed by her Ninth Circle minions, so Oliver tried to save her. Oliver wasn't the target in the last attack. She wasn't trying to save Oliver. She was simply trying to survive and she seemed surprised that Oliver was trying to help. Then she sort of apologized for everything with her dying words.

They don't feel similar to me at all. At no point in that scene did she chose her family member over her team/organization. Her team betrayed her. This would be more like if a group of Stormtroopers started attacking Darth Vader and Luke stepped in to defend his father, and then Darth Vader was like "Boy I was a crappy dad. By the way, I sent assassins to kill everyone you love. They should hide." before dying.

Or are you talking about something else?

19

u/Eagleassassin3 May 14 '19

It's more like the villain turning against his/her own side to join the hero and die in the process.

4

u/iwishiwasamoose May 14 '19

But it's not. That's the thing. Emiko didn't turn against her side. Her side turned against her. Emiko didn't die a hero. She was a villain who was killed by other villains.

To use an extreme example, let's pretend that Hitler's top officials thought he wasn't dedicated enough, so they all turned on him, Caesar-style, and Hitler killed a couple Nazis before dying. Would you say that Hitler turned on the Nazis? No, the Nazis turned on him. (Obviously this story is historically inaccurate)

Unless I missed something, Emiko didn't join the good guys. She didn't join Oliver. Oliver tried to protect her, he initiated the short teamup, not her. The only "good" thing she did was warn Oliver that his family was in danger, something he already knows of course.

3

u/darealystninja May 14 '19

Luke: But they were killed years ago.

Vader: mybad, b

93

u/PM-ME-YOUR_LABIA May 14 '19

"You removed my DNA from Archer so I wouldn't be hunted my entire life?! OMG mom you're so over-protective!"

Damn these future kids are annoying.

47

u/DonnyMox May 14 '19

Mia truly is her mother’s daughter.

7

u/Pandemona1738 Jun 03 '19

Yeah think you hit the nail on the head there....she is literally Felicity with Oliver's combat skills haha.

8

u/DonnyMox Jun 05 '19

Part of me hates her, but part of me also loves her for giving Felicity a taste of her own medicine.

3

u/Mundane-Ad-911 Feb 22 '25

I’d argue specifically Felicity pre-marriage. Felicity post-marriage and especially post-prison was much better imo

16

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

The flash forwards are honestly one of the worst aspects this show has had, IMO.

I think I'd rather watch Season 4 flashbacks. Atleast they had Oliver in them.

2

u/LuciLuciMeThat Jul 07 '19

Seriously, I don't understand why Mia and William were written to be insufferable whiney brats 50% of the time. The other 50% of the time when they're reasonable human beings, I actually kinda liked them.

2

u/ChattGM Oct 15 '19

Mia I can actually tolerate but William I just can't. His constant whining about how they let him go with live with his grandparents when HE WANTED TO GO and saying they never came and got him when they actually tried to contact him but they never got no response. My theory is the grandparents never mentioned they even tried to call once he was settled in and made it appear they were happy he was out of their lives. So he grew up believing that. It just frustrated me when he would bring up things in the future and I'm like well that's not true at all but ofc you wouldnt know that since you rather be mad and upset and act like nope my parents are in the wrong. It's their fault and I shouldn't have to understand what they go through.

1

u/offisirplz Aug 17 '19

Yeah that line was dumb

89

u/Mosk915 May 14 '19

So if season 8 ends with Crisis, I wonder what the season will be about.

90

u/DekanPrime May 14 '19

Probably Oliver's going to be doing things that will set up the Crisis, and everyone else will be closing out their storylines. Like where the hell was Dig in 2040 or if he is even alive, how BT died and Connor Hawke came to live with Lyla and Dig, how JJ became Deathstroke, and how Roy came to live on Lian Yu at some point between 2019 and 2040.

29

u/Dyliotic May 14 '19

Pretty sure Roy is on Lian Yu to atone for killing two guards this season

9

u/iJONTY85 May 15 '19

Or that something happened to Thea that made him decide to go to Lian Yu

7

u/DekanPrime May 14 '19

That could be the fall back reason, but I hope it’ll be for a reason of greater magnitude. I’m not saying taking innocent lives is not enough, but a self imposed exile for maximum of 20 yrs and that look that Roy and Felicity shared when they were talking to the kids made it seem to be something else as they both had smirks on their faces.

1

u/ItsDevil_DareDevil May 20 '19

Wait who does BT stand for?

1

u/Pandemona1738 Jun 03 '19

I thought Crisis is gonna be the start of all the shows in the fall? Won't that mean Season 8 will not air until afterwards or are they jumping this forward?

253

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

Oliver has suffered so much, and I hate that he won't even get the legacy he deserves

182

u/DarkSaiyanKnight May 14 '19

Agreed. I think that's what I hate so much about this overall season future plot line up the writers established. I think pretty much everybody in the entire CWverse go out of their way to shit on Oliver especially as a person. It beyond frustrates me that in the future, star city, HIS CITY is 10 times more dangerous and hostile that he left it... His legacy is tarnished tbh.

114

u/tonystankisajerk May 14 '19

Honestly just leaves a horrible taste in my mouth that after all the shit Ollie had to go through, the people he's lost, that he never gets his happy ending. I've said it before and I'll say it again. At this point, I'm just here to see how it ends due to how long we've been watching the show

→ More replies (10)

25

u/SevereBell May 14 '19

Seeing this thinking a lot. Yes the show has kind of gone downhill. But in no way has Olivier's legacy been tarnished. His legacy is inspiring people to stand up against those causing harm... People like his daughter and diggles son are living tributes to his legacy. There will always be criminals... And because of Oliver there will ALWAYS be people willing to step up and do what's right.

Oliver can't create world peace... His legacy still lives on.

→ More replies (1)

7

u/iwishiwasamoose May 14 '19

I felt the same way until someone pointed out that Star City was mildly dangerous when Oliver was there, but then turned to absolute shit when he left. It shows how big of an impact he was. He left on a high note, saving the city from destruction, solidifying vigilantes as a force of good. He was the linchpin that held it together. It's not his fault that no one else managed to be as awesome as he was after he left.

7

u/snake202021 May 14 '19

Wrong. He's literally sacrificing his life and his happiness to save Trillions of lives. How in the holy fucking hell do people on this subreddit just seem to ignore that fact? Is that not enough of a legacy for you? To help save the entire multiverse from being written out of existence?

Just because Star City turned to shit in the future doesnt mean it had ANYTHING to do with Ollie's legacy. He's dead, he no longer has any control over the actions of the living. His legacy lives on. Through his team as they said in this episode. Through the sacrifice he's going to make. And through his children who are clearly the heroes of the future.

Legacy perfectly intact. If you cant see that, then you arent giving Ollie nearly enough credit.

→ More replies (21)

15

u/FanEu7 May 14 '19

74

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

Yeah. What a downer ending to the series.

I think if you told me in S1-2 this show ends with Oliver and Felicity going into hiding, Oliver dying in <10 years from the start of his crusade (and BC dying in season 4), and then Star City turning to shit and becoming way worse than when he even started his crusade as the Green Arrow I wouldn't have bothered.

It just really feels like it was all pointless and for nothing. Oliver survives the struggle through the island, becomes a hero for about 3 years, then eventually fizzles out into obscurity and dies. The end.

53

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

He's literally saving the universe. What else could you want? That's a perfect ending so.

I swear I looked at my phone for a second and looked back up and Emiko was on the ground dying.

31

u/FriendLee93 May 14 '19

Yeah that fucked me up too. She got kicked twice by a chick with steel-toed boots (or knife shoes, idk) and then just died almost instantly. I had to rewind because I seriously thought I missed something.

24

u/LCPhotowerx May 14 '19

Adrenaline, while a hell of a reaction should not have sustained her in that fight for as long as it did. She got fucking stabbed in the stomach, took it out, which meant shes now bleeding out, and continued to fight for like a solid 2 minutes. I've had papercuts that made me feel dizzy after 20 seconds.

3

u/_DrShrimpPuertoRico_ May 15 '19

TBH, we have seen much worse.

71

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

You’re all fooling yourselves thinking next season will only be Olivier and the monitor traveling through the multiverse. The flashforwards and Laurel are both confirmed for next season. They’ll probably bring the whole team back too besides Felicity.

200

u/OLKv3 May 14 '19

I went from being sad to hyped that Oliver is apparently living on some other plane of existence. They still didn't answer wtf happened to Diggle

122

u/TimeShade May 14 '19

Diggle will probably become a GL by the end of Crisis. So he'll be off world saving another.

1

u/Pandemona1738 Jun 03 '19

Hope he becomes fed into Legends of Tomorrow? I mean he quit Argus right so as of right now he either is gonna be left to cameo on Flash when they need extra help (maybe even Super Girl but he hasn't been on screen with Kara before right?) or he will not been seen again :(

No corner of the universe is safe from her.

1

u/twentyonesighs May 14 '19

They didn't really explain what happened to anyone.

10

u/OLKv3 May 14 '19

What do you mean? They explained what happened to everyone in the main cast in the future timeline except for Diggle (and Thea but she's not main cast anymore). Oliver is dead/with the Monitor, Felicity was captured, Dinah works with Renee's daughter, Roy was on the island, Renee ran the Glades, Laurel became the Black Canary. Diggle was the only one who wasn't addressed

1

u/iJONTY85 May 15 '19

50

u/PM-ME-YOUR_LABIA May 14 '19 edited Jun 04 '20

Sorry but I will not accept an Emiko redemption. She was a terrorist to her dying breath killing innocent people in the street. She only face turned when she realised her crew was about to turn on her. Team Arrow turns on each other for less so it's weird that Oliver was fighting so hard to believe she's a good person WHILE she's killing people.

Also they buried her next to Oliver and his dad but Moira's grave was nowhere in sight. Wtf, throw her naked corpse in the bay.

21

u/VikramArrowerse May 14 '19

Well emiko's character was written very badly from the start....and the second half of this season have been nothing but a mess....the future storyline was promising at first but turned into completely a shitstorm

6

u/mistar_z May 14 '19

The whole lot of villains was so messy ugh. having three villains this season and they failed every one of them.

Diaz never should've returned, Dante was a colossal waste of time that didn't live up to the hype thrown aside as soon as they got Emoki, and Emiko felt like she was forced into everything which they also sadly failed with because they can't write anything worth while with her too. Really poor writing overall this season for most of the dccw shows villains this year.

1

u/selwyntarth May 14 '19

Not exactly. She refrained from stabbing Oliver before her men came in.

1

u/Mundane-Ad-911 Feb 22 '25 edited Feb 22 '25

I think that’s one of the strengths and weaknesses in Oliver though, throughout the show, that he holds out hope and trust for people even when they don’t deserve it very much. Not just Emiko but like Andy, Laurel, Malcolm, Slade etc. And sometimes it’s worked out and sometimes it hasn’t. I kinda wish some of the characters would at least give him  some credit for it by the end of the show, but ig that’s just for us viewers to do

97

u/EddyTheMartian May 14 '19

A bit of a disappointing finale, but not all bad, I thought it was pretty solid overall, like this season has been pretty solid. I don’t think it’s a bad season like 3, 4 and 6, but i don’t think it’s a great season like 1, 2, and 5. It’s in the middle, just pretty good.

I haven't seen much of Arrow. I have always been a Flash and Legends person. Arrow is on my watch list. I'm actually not a part of this sub even. But i watched tonight's episode. It is the season finale before the last season of the entire show. And i must say, that last 10 minutes, with The Monitor coming to take Oliver, him leaving Felicity and Mia, and then future Felicity going with the Monitor to be Oliver, in which i presume is Heaven. Wow. That was a big tearjerker. I was crying a bit. I didn't understand much of the episode until the ending. But damn, that was a good ending, very heartwrenching.

I don't have much else to say, but i do feel sad for Arrow's end, even if i never was an Arrow fan and watched the show regularly. I feel sad for everyone who has to see the show end.

I don't know why I'm commenting this, but i just wanted to say as an outsider looking in, i feel sadness over Arrow ending as well. And maybe no one will care about my comment and what i had to say, i just wanted to say this.

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

I liked the episode. IMO it was a good season finale for a good season. Had its ups and downs, it wasn’t great, but also wasn’t terrible.

Best part was seeing Team Arrow in all its glory. Plus the return of Bronze Tiger and him surviving this episode was really cool. Also hard to believe that he didn’t kill anyone with the amount of blood on those claws.

Emiko’s death was kind of anticlimactic. Like it wasn’t even the annoying Irish dude that killed her, it was some brand new woman named Beatrice. I did however enjoy Oliver vs Emiko, and their subsequent final team up.

The ending with Oliver was definitely another high part. His goodbye to the team could’ve been written better (like overall I enjoyed him saying goodbye to the team, but them bringing up the Mark of Four to tie that in kinda felt forced in).

Really looking forward to see what’s up next for Oliver in his final days. Also, we’re definitely gonna have more flashforwards next season, but I wonder if they’re gonna split them with the present day team.

70

u/steveondrugs May 14 '19

And that is basically the end of Arrow. Fuck it, let the Crisis begin.

34

u/Megaman99M May 14 '19

I don't know how I feel about this finale. I joked on the other thread that this is basically season 3 finale but written above a second grade level, and I stand by it. Bad guy uses chemical weapons to destroy city, Oliver and Felicity leave the team to start a new family (this time it made sense because Fefe's pregnarts and has a hit on her). The flash forwards were ok however really forced (doh here's 60 seconds so you can make it out on time). Bronze Tiger was cool though. Then the Monitor came in and went "Spoiler alert, you gonna die. Let's go save the multiverse". I'm looking forward to next season if it's about Oliver's travels throughout the multiverse because I'm at the point where I don't care about Star City anymore and wanna see The Green Arrow and not his team (or his descendants, make a spinoff if you want they just took time away to pad out episodes).

After a really promising first half, the second half of the season didn't live up to it, but it wasn't that bad. Season wise I'd put it right below seasons 1,2, and 5 and above the Flash's current season. I'm glad that Amell agreed for another season because let us actually see everyone respect Oliver as the true hero he is!

66

u/[deleted] May 14 '19

Most of the episode was underwhelming, but fuck me that ending was handled well. I haven't been this excited for an Arrow season in years. I wasn't expecting much from Felicity's final scene but it was all handled beautifully. I'm really interested to see where the show goes next season. The last 15 minutes really redeemed the episode for me.
