I went in with low expectations and thought it was ok. Granted I didn't have any prior knowledge of the Dark Tower and I was drinking a beer.

Same. Minus the beer. Though, I am interested in reading the book now.

[u/obeythed]

I'm just so goddamn disappointed.

[u/Ironorca]

so did it suck as much as the trailer made it look like it would?

[u/Calamity0o0 → u/Ironorca]

The trailer was better than the movie to be honest.

I'm a little salty right now, I've been looking forward to this movie for a long time and it was not very good, and I normally like movies that no one else did. The Dark Tower books are my favorite books of all time, I even have a tattoo of Roland. I'm not sure how anyone who hadn't read the books would know what was going on, everything was so rushed. I mean I understand they couldn't fit seven lengthy novels into a movie, but it could have been done so much better. It's not just because it didn't follow the books, this was a mediocre film in general. I still have high hopes for IT at least.

[u/GuitarWizard90]

Pretty big fuck up by the studio. Why couldn't they get a better director and writers for this? They had an opportunity to start a major franchise here, but they blew it.

[u/Calamity0o0]

If this could have been made into a show with Game of Throne's budget... that would be amazing.

Two Stephen King adaptions that have sucked this year. Let's hope IT goes well.

As a person who hadn't read the book before watching it, I think that the movie is great. The visuals are great, the plot is good(although a bit rushed) and the cast is great. I liked it so much that I ordered the first three books... Remember folks, it's just an opinion.
