100% my favourite line from Anatoly, and he delivers some pretty great lines.

299

u/iMurd Mar 23 '17

I loved last episode when he questioned why Oliver changed his voice.

83

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '17

That was actually great too! Definitely up there!

19

u/justthatordinarygirl Mar 23 '17

Sooo much..that line was one of my favourites of him.. And : " Why are you playing Robin Hood" was a good one too hahah

3

u/CWagner Mar 26 '17

Wasn't it "How do you do that with your voice"?

48

u/ccrraapp Mar 23 '17

Not just his delivery, the writers have given Anatoly some really great lines. I like how he asks a question ending with "...Yes?". This guy knows what he is asking.

13

u/Moonlightchanel Mar 23 '17

I fucking love Anatoly

24

u/JohnnyAxXx Mar 23 '17

You're being sarcasm, yes?

10

u/Moonlightchanel Mar 23 '17

πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ actually no he's funny in a good way

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '17

u/gusefalito Mar 23 '17

Reminded of another great Season 2 moment

"Nyssa al Ghul, Heir to the Demon"

"Felicity Smoak, Class of '09"

800

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '17

Or "Vandal Savage, destroyer of empires"

"Leonard Snart, robber of ATMs"

249

u/MajorKeyz Mar 23 '17

I'm impressed you guys remember all these lines. Upvote for you guys!

I guess the Arrowverse writers like this joke a lot. No complaints here.

4

u/lordsmish Mar 23 '17

I want somebody to put them all together

104

u/nonliteral Mar 23 '17

I think my favorite anywhere was still

Buffy: "Hi...how have you been?"

Amy: "Rat. You?"

Buffy: "Dead."

Amy: "Oh."

10

u/Hawkguy85 Mar 23 '17

"Rinic Pralanoth, Sovereign of Kanvia"

"John Crichton, wizard of Oz."

5

u/nonliteral Mar 23 '17

Forgot about that one. Probably my favorite moment from Farscape.

75

u/CurtisManning Mar 23 '17

I miss Nyssa, I want her to come back and kick her sister's ass

65

u/Murasasme Mar 23 '17

This is what bugs me about Talia. Nyssa was clearly on good terms with her father yet she understands why Oliver killed him and doesn't hold a grudge. Talia on the other hand was at odds with her father because she seemed like she was a better person yet she holds such a grudge against Oliver for killing him.

9

u/CIearMind Mar 23 '17

Cornforce

4

u/iceman_121 Mar 25 '17

Daddy issues.

4

u/SpliceKnight Mar 27 '17

To be fair to Talia, being removed from the situation, and getting the news that your father has been killed, does in fact make it more likely for you to react in anger, and being at odds with one's father, and not upholding to the honor system ra's was so fond of, she would likely react more emotionally when someone she has a famillial connection with is taken from her. This makes her more dangerous. Think how laurel acted when her sister died.... The second time.

8

u/SlumdogSkillionaire Mar 25 '17

Oliver really sucks at explaining things.

"I killed your brother. There are reasons, but they don't matter."

3

u/thelastevergreen Mar 24 '17

"Felicity Smoak, Class of '09"

And suddenly....I feel old.....

64

u/nonliteral Mar 23 '17

Malcolm Merlyn, CEO of Merlyn Global Group

...but I want you to know that I'm going to Ra's al Ghul someday!

15

u/dahahawgy Mar 23 '17

Plot twist: That was Legends Malcolm and he was dying to say it.

7

u/_Nightdude_ Mar 23 '17

"That I'm going to have been Ra's al Ghul once, someday!"

8

u/Jeffersonstarships Mar 23 '17

Bob Vance, Vance Refrigeration.

5

u/SawRub Mar 23 '17

So, what line of work are you in, Bob?

2

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '17

You've got a lot to learn about this town, sweetie.

5

u/Hieillua Mar 24 '17

You'd think Merlyn would be a bit more cautious introducing himself to a random guy while having a meeting with a Russian mobster.

4

u/SawRub Mar 23 '17

I guess Merlyn's always introduced himself that way, with full job title.

3

u/TheSamehMagdy Mar 24 '17

"Malcolm Merlyn, CEO of Merlyn Global Group"

Ra's Al Ghul

1

u/justthatordinarygirl Mar 23 '17

one of the best lines of the episode hahah

1

u/[deleted] Mar 24 '17

I'm not entirely sure I enjoyed the russian arc, but I did love Anatoly.

557

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '17

fuck Evelyn. I really hope she dies now.

On a serious note, this episode was gruesome. Chase is the villain I've wanted since seasons 2. Prometheus is officially the best villain Arrow has ever had.

141

u/HanBr0 Mar 23 '17

I agree that he's an absolute badass, but Slade just holds a special place in my heart

54

u/Strangeting Mar 24 '17

I agree. For me Slade will always be the best villian this show has had, then Adrian, then Merlyn. Mostly because the Show spent a season and a half building their relationship and getting me to love Oliver and Slade's brotherhood. Not to mention outside of Adrian, Slade was the villian who came closest to actually breaking Oliver's spirit

7

u/Mr_105 Mar 24 '17

Agree x2. Even tho Slade killed Moira and kidnapped Thea, I'd hate to see what Chase would do (i actually would like to see)

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '25

I say it’s Adrian who came the closest because he showed him the lie

1

u/[deleted] Feb 25 '25

I say it’s Adrian who came the closest because he showed him the lie

3

u/yolofulcrum Mar 28 '17

Your flair says it all.

1

u/Epicallytossed Mar 31 '17

How about now?

153

u/GoodLeftUndone Mar 23 '17

I really am beginning to think he's my favorite fucking villain of all time. Holy shit. He's so fucking twisted and methodical. Just so fucking cold and heartless. It's beautiful.

13

u/NobleHalcyon Mar 23 '17

I might agree, except he was so easily caught with his pants down when Digg and Ollie brought his wife to him. It's like, "dude, they know who your mom is, they know who your wife is...did you think they were above outing you or something?"

25

u/GoodLeftUndone Mar 23 '17

I honestly feel like he wanted them to catch either his wife or mom. He killed his wife with absolutely zero hesitation and I think it was just to show them he doesn't care about anything other than taking Ollie down.

13

u/Titan897 Mar 24 '17

it was just to show them he doesn't care about anything other than taking Ollie down.

And also he probably never really loved her. If she knew him as Chase rather than Morrison then he probably met her after his father's death and just married her to add to his "Chase's" life.

19

u/suaveponcho Mar 23 '17

All time? Like... more than Darth Vader in Empire Strikes Back all time? That's certainly bold

2

u/drostandfound Mar 24 '17

IDK, Purple Man from Jessica Jones and Emperor Palpatine are still my favorite. One is crazy powerful, cares about nothing and has multiple origin stories in the show without really knowing which one happened and the other built two armies to fight for a galaxy so that he could get power. That is pretty awesome.

17

u/CharmedDesigns Mar 23 '17

My issue with him really comes down to how much of a hypocrite he is. His motivation is at least a biiit (though not a substantial amount) better than Slade's, but he's way more of a hypocrite because at least Slade made it clear he didn't care about any death other than Shado's.

3

u/therealpumpkinhead Mar 25 '17

For sure. Finally got a good arrow villain. Dark was pretty good but despite his name he just wasn't dark enough.

This episode reminding me of watching the flashes first fight with zoom.

1

u/redroverdover Mar 28 '17

no way is he better than Slade.

lol he killed oliver's mom in front of him. and said that his mom has bigger balls than him. that wins as most evil no matter what.

1

u/yolofulcrum Mar 28 '17

Yeah, Ollie should go monster, and Evelyn should realise what she's done by betraying and torturing Ollie like that.

"I don't wanna do this anymore. I'm shutting everything down"

so how many episode(s) is this gonna last?

This may be the darkest episode Arrow has ever had...

And it's fantastic.

After he had just tortured one of Kovar's men to death...

"He gave up pretty quickly, the rest was just me practicing".

Personally, that was the most darkest quote from the entire series. I was sitting in my living room like "What. The. Fuck."

Edit: quickly, not easy.

"I don't want to do this anymore. Shut it down." That moment when Oliver channels this sub after Season 4.

Facing who you really are has been a strong theme this season. There is no "monster" inside of Oliver; he is a monster who dresses up as a normal guy, not the other way around. Felicity, no matter how hard she tried to be the moral compass of the team, ultimately reverted back to her old ways. Curtis. Rene. Diggle. All of them have had to dig deep and confront their personal demons.

Edit: Love this episode.

I don't know what changed between season 4 and season 5 but holy shit. This is a completely different show, in the best way possible.

Honestly you know who else liked it too much when Oliver killed people? We did.

734

u/cmath89 Mar 23 '17

WE WANTED IT AND WE LIKED IT

136

u/Van1shed Mar 23 '17

New meme?

148

u/InsertUsernameHere32 Mar 23 '17

New meme?

Yep. WE WANTED IT AND WE LIKED IT.

14

u/not_a_saiyan Mar 23 '17

Why can I hear you shouting?

3

u/TanithArmoured Mar 24 '17

Why did you eat an entire cake?

I WANTED IT AND I LIKED IT

1

u/zotquix Mar 27 '17

That's our secret. We're always bloodlusty.

9

u/deluxejoe Mar 23 '17

We're the monsters

8

u/peanutbutteroreos Mar 24 '17

Did we like it because he was killing or because he was less brooding/self-hate? Cause honestly, his soul searching for light and darkness in season 4 was just too over the top annoying.

5

u/[deleted] Mar 23 '17

That's what I was thinking about when watching the flashbacks in this episode.
