Ahh, Reddit. "I read the title and the abstract paragraph! That means I understand it completely!"
Without getting all lecture-y (as I always do) -- the 70s "me generation" stuff was a flow from the 60s "counter culture" but for people who were in The Establishment. It was a way to try to break away from the stereo-typical nuclear family norms without the throw-it-all-away version of hippies.
That's an over-simplification, and it also really only applies to white people. A lot of the "Self Help" stuff that was a big part of the 70s was either not available to or just not a part of the non-white communities.

Slavery is forced, your fucking Visa card isn't. Stop embarrassing yourself.
I'll have you know my Visa card does force me to buy things I can't afford! "You can get that $4000 Chanel wallet right now and not worry about paying it off until later, later, laaaaaaater!", it says. "Interest isn't a thing....", it gently whispers.
Yeah, so who's the idiot now?

Man, good thing he was able to distill that incredibly complex issue down to a single sole group of people that we can now cast out of our society and return to our glory days!

"Baby Boomers suck and are why I don't have a job" drama is quite new and refreshing!

I'm pretty sure the guy in the drama isn't even a baby boomer, based on the lingo he uses.
His entire post history is also arguing and being kind of a douche.

They're totally glossing over the fact that we were the first to inherit the leftovers from the Baby Boomers.

From wiki
Millennials (also known as Generation Y, Generation Me and Echo Boomers)
"Twenge attributes Millennials with the traits of confidence and tolerance, but also identifies a sense of entitlement and narcissism based on personality surveys that showed increasing narcissism among Millennials compared to preceding generations when they were teens and in their twenties."
