We got a happy ending and I'm ok with that. Gave the feeling that things will continue even though the show ended. Great show and I will miss it.

So glad he didn't become a lumberjack.

u/[deleted] May 21 '16 edited May 21 '16

They did a fantastic job of book ending key elements that fit with the theme. The show will easily be enjoyed all over again but knowing the ending is going to make it more fun. He certainly wasn't gonna "Papa's Goods" himself on the motorcycle and not everyone is cut out to be a lumberjack!

22

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Dexter went from being a big shot Emmy winning show to being a benchmark of horrible TV show endings.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '16

I thought that ending was great, I just thought that almost everything between season 4 and that moment was terrible, and often cringe worthy.

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

Oh god I don’t ever want to think about that awful last season ever again, what a mess. Apart from the first season, Dexter’s peak was season 4, with Lithgow.

Oh boy if you are reading this, they went lower

Buddy, you have no idea (*cough *cough New Blood)

8

u/AThrowawayAsshole May 21 '16

Thank God. I would have probably thrown something through my television if they copped out like that.

2

u/[deleted] Jul 16 '16

I like the lumberjack ending, I think it's very misunderstood. That being said this was a much better ending and even though it pretty happy it didn't seem forced at all.

1

u/[deleted] Jul 13 '16

What do you mean? Is it absolutely certain that there won't be more seasons?

2

u/sardu1 Jul 13 '16

Yep, season 4 was the finale

Kurt Bunker, that's your real name, right?

61

u/nonliteral May 21 '16

Brock doesn't want to get burned twice.

2

u/[deleted] May 22 '16

Also, Bunker doesn't want to get burned twice...you know, with real fire.

36

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Lol Brock's crotchety old man humor is my favorite thing about him.

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

I love Brock so much 🥹

22

u/JennyZi May 21 '16

Everyone seems to think Job's "Banshee, Pennsylvania, suck my tit!" line was the comic relief of the ep, but honestly, I was just crying by that point. "Kurt Bunker, that's your real name, right?" on the other hand, had me laughing out loud for a minute or so.

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

Kurt and Calvin Bunker, they sound like sitcom character names. Can you imagine!

95

u/nonliteral May 21 '16

I like that we got Ulrich Thomsen going out Scarface style, with a Thompson submachine gun.

41

u/NorthernMonkey10 May 21 '16

I really think Kai was the breakout character for me, I think I might have stopped watching if not for Ulrich commanding your attention every time he's on screen, I hope to see more of him in other things

4

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

It was super surreal yesterday watching Kai talk to Reddington.

2

u/nonliteral May 21 '16

I might even like Liz a little more if I can convince myself she's Kai Proctor's daughter.

3

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

Just get Lili Simmons to take over playing Liz from that awful Megan Boone!

In the farewell video they even referred to him as their Pacino lol.

7

u/mr_popcorn May 29 '16

Aw fuck, who's chopping the onions here!

16

u/savi0r23 May 21 '16

That was badass. Completely fit that character too.

8

u/KennyFulgencio May 21 '16

Everyone should have one of those hidden at home, for last-stand use only. When you have to go out in style, use Thompson.

4

u/Tonyage27 May 23 '16

Might choose to believe he won that fight but I love that his story ended like that and love how it was shot.

3

u/mr_popcorn May 29 '16

A great bookend to such a great character, and Thomsen just nailed it every damn season. Whatever façade he may have put up throughout the series whether it was a meat packer or the town mayor, Kai Proctor lived like a gangster and died like a gangster. RIP.

I know I am quite late but I want to adress one thing that everyone seems to not have noticed.

After the credits there is one final scene where it appears that sugar is leaving Banshee. I thought that after his speech of "We are cons. We are made to believe that you pay for your sins by getting locked up... But maybe it is about choosing another road."

I feel that he always felt that he needed to stay in Banshee to pay for his sins, whatever those may be, and that he now finally realised he has got to move on. This made me quite happy

29

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Yeah and I'm surprised and glad they gave Sugar the post-credits scene.

27

u/[deleted] May 22 '16 edited May 22 '16

Quite fitting, Sugar was sort of the show's narrator and helping Hood and the gang as their moral compass of sorts.

With that said, he was very underutilized this season.

16

u/Tonyage27 May 23 '16

Yeah that was my only complaint this season. Not enough Sugar. His speeches were always very heavy and enriched the story.

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

I wish the show had more Sugar through its entire run, but I loved that they gave him the post-credits scene.

8

u/JennyZi May 21 '16

Plus, all the season 4 origins were people talking to Sugar. Now it's Sugar to Sugar.

1

u/lucifersaveus May 25 '16

Well he's the "old wise black man" duh

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

I’m so glad they did! The affection the creators have for these characters is apparent and appreciated.

13

u/sardu1 May 21 '16

I know it's fiction but it would be cool thinking he was going to meet up with Job in NYC somehow

11

u/SinisterKid May 23 '16

Better Probe Job

7

u/[deleted] May 22 '16

Banshee creator Jonathan Tropper talked about a Job spin-off before the finale in an interview for Zap2it Guess if that does happen (big IF but hey anything is possible in the Banshee universe, Hood could drop by now and then)

2

u/mr_popcorn May 29 '16

Who do we call to make this happen? I'd watch the shit out of a Job spinoff series.

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

I wish it had!

2

u/STUPID-GUY May 22 '16

Shows Name :Jobs Adventure Then and Now

Premise: Jobs life post Banshee with Sugar bringing up ridiculous jobs which somehow trigers memory of Jobs pre-Banshee job in Flashback. It might also deal with temtation of taking back his moniker of Jobs.

Pilot: Check out Chronus frome banshee origin season 4

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

He deserved only the best, I love Sugar and now he can do what he wants because he finally has the money and has forgiven himself.

74

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Lol at "The butler did it".

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

“His butler or something” hahaha so good and it’s not like most of us haven’t thought of Burton as just a butler with a few extra duties. Man, that actor was creepy and perfect for the role, he must have had such fun playing Burton.

65

u/domrayn May 21 '16

No montage of burton removing his glasses = not fighting at full power. I kinda teared up when he died. If he didn't kill Rebecca, her recklessness would have continued and something was bound to happen. Burton is the most loyal psychopath on this side of the mississipi.

44

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

I think Burton at full power would have killed Hood, so it was more realistic to have him wounded.

27

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Yeah Hood wouldn't have that much of a chance to beat a full power Burton so it was good they had him injured and disoriented to make it work satisfactorily.

1

u/No-Ninja-4608 Jan 21 '23 edited Jan 21 '23

How does that make any sense? Even if he wasn't 100% Hood beat Burton very easily, Proctor was a harder fight for Hood.

Hood is the one with real training and way more experience. Hood beat an MMA fighter whilst Burton almost lost to a 5 foot 5 girl

3

u/orphantwin Mar 27 '24

yeah, right? Not to mention that Hood was completely out of shape. Over two years living as some kind of hermit.

Hood in full power is easily the best fighter in the entire show. He defeated so many opponents, that were stronger, bigger and even faster.

2

u/Naakan Feb 14 '25

Burton was injured before the fight with the Indian girl And she was a badass ninja. And he won. Burton was definitely a Terminator. He took out half a dozen Nazis in seconds. Everyone needs a Burton in his life.

6

u/STUPID-GUY May 22 '16

I guess hood is more of a 'Mankind' kind of a guy.No matter how much you dish out like the Multiple chairshots to the skull or the fall from the roof of the hell in the cell on to the ringside anouncing table,he just keeps on coming back.

1

u/putyercookieinhere Nov 17 '21

I like your personality

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

What's burton's background? He seems to whoop everybody's ass in the show no matter who. I think maybe the only guy he couldnt have taken in hand to hand was the red indian guy whose name i forgot.

2

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

u/velvetdewdrop Aug 04 '16 edited Aug 05 '16

Not so sure, they have opposite fighting styles. But I guess in animal terms hood's would be the wolf or fight dog.. Burton a hyena maybe.. all ruthless efficiency (or would that be his master?) And yeah, hyena would have the odds. Or maybe Burton would be a crocodile.

Looked up on YouTube hyena vs wolf and didn't find any nature footage. But there were interesting fights between hyena and lion.

11

u/HyperionEsq May 21 '16

I think the glasses had to do with him containing his rage/psychopathy.

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

I thought it was just Burton’s version of a girl taking off her hoop earrings before she is about to throw down, but your theory works too.

61

u/OldCleanBastard May 21 '16

It has been an honor and a priviledge Reddting with you all over the course of this show.

58

u/Gangakongg May 21 '16

I like how Hoods blindside crash scene was just like the one where he got hit in the earlier seasons in that same creek.. props to the producers what a great run, great show! Sad to see it go, but what is dead may never die..

19

u/JennyZi May 21 '16

True, in season 1, when he and Emmett were hit by the Moody brothers while transporting Proctor to Cadi.

1

u/zuckzuckman Aug 21 '24

I half expected Hood to be down on the ground fighting Burton, and finding the gun they left in the water in season 1 and use that to kill Burton (idk how guns work).

1

u/I_startedajoke Mar 29 '22

But how did Hood find out Proctor was driving there and in that car? It was never explained?

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

Shh. Shhhhh.

"Banshee Pennsylvania. Suck my tit."

Best. Final. Words. Ever.

40

u/Chickles07 May 21 '16

It was the best. Such a great character.

38

u/SawRub May 21 '16

It would have been so easy for the character to come off as ridiculous, but they made Job work so well.

12

u/JennyZi May 21 '16

Well, Job is one of the best characters ever, so... makes sense!

10

u/Sanlear May 21 '16

Seriously. I'm going to miss this show.

1

u/OdysseyBrands 11d ago

do you miss it still?

7

u/mr_popcorn May 29 '16

He had such a great closing episode, and man am I glad that they didn't kill him off. To Job, one of the best hacker characters on TV and the best wingman anyone could ever have!

1

u/Naakan Feb 14 '25

I just ended Banshee and it's funny because the previous series I watched is Mr Robot. I'd like to watch them hack the hell out of each other.

Stupendous ending as far as wrapping all the plot lines up. Again second week, Hood has trouble fighting one dude who just got jacked up in that car wreck. Last week the tiny garage now the open stream area. Oh well. Very pleased in the end. Farewell Banshee and all you people on the Banshee Reddit, it's been nice conversing with you all. Now suck my tit.

32

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

To me that felt like the only way Hood could have possibly beat Burton.

Laid out from truck explosion, then sent off a cliff :)

12

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

Reminds me of how he savaged the indian girl. Still makes me :'(

8

u/[deleted] Jun 02 '16

Awh man Nola Longshadow. God she was gorgeous

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

Nola 🥵😭 This show did her dirty, bringing her back for an episode only to kill her off brutally. And she didn’t even get to fuck Hood again for her troubles!

96

u/Verpa217 May 21 '16

I have to say, the writing for Calvin was spectacular. Never before have I seen a character that I've felt so many different feelings for; I've hated him, understood him, felt sorry for him, hated him again, rooted for him, rooted against him. The writing for this show was just fantastic and I'm heartbroken that it's over.

38

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

Yeah, I really felt bad for him in the end. Especially since Bunker introduced him to that lifestyle, only to abandon him.

26

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

And he was fucking his wife. Like jesus man. U fucked a man's wife then u shoot him to death and get away with it.

4

u/mr_popcorn May 29 '16

That was fucking heartbreaking, especially seeing Kurt when he's seen what he turned his brother into. That was some Shakespearian shit man!

→ More replies (1)

20

u/acaseyb May 22 '16

I think the dude who played Calvin is the breakout star of the series. I think he's one of the few from the series that carry a movie or even his own series. That dude was awesome.

10

u/lemonpjb May 23 '16

Chris Coy, yeah he committed to that character. He was a force everytime he came on screen.

3

u/iampanax May 22 '16

Yeah I thought so as well. Never heard of the guy before Banshee but damn he can act.

→ More replies (1)
→ More replies (2)

23

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Yeah they could have easily made him a mustache twirling villain like Ramsay Bolton, but they went for a more complicated characterization for him, and it was great.

7

u/Dawnydiesel May 21 '16

Yes! That's such a great sign of fantastic writing. To feel all those emotions for a character that was ultimately evil.

2

u/concord72 May 24 '16

Check out HBO's Oz, it's about the inmates at a special jail block. Honestly one of the best shows I've ever seen, every character makes you love/hate them.

→ More replies (1)

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

That actor was fucking brilliant, some of the casting for this show was exceptional. He and Kurt acted the hell out of that final scene together, damn. I never felt sorry for him though, he was too horrible, I felt sorry for Kurt.

43

u/Doc_Hollidaze May 21 '16

This show was so entertaining. Kai Proctor...what a great character. Sad to see it end.

37

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

Enjoyed the finale. Thanks Banshee for giving us 4 blood soaked, fuck fueled, ass kicking seasons.

36

u/savi0r23 May 21 '16

I'm going to miss this show so much. Loved every moment of it. Easily one of my favorite shows ever.

6

u/puckbeaverton May 21 '16

33

Oh man, I'm really glad that she did not say "Goodbye [Hood's real name].

This show will be missed.

18

u/sardu1 May 22 '16

"goodbye Felix"

5

u/SinisterKid May 23 '16

"It's Lucas."

16

u/Chesza May 22 '16

I was waiting for her to say his name at that part and at first I thought she called him 'Gary' haha

2

u/KlutchAtStraws May 22 '16

Lol snap! I wondered if that was a bit of fan service.

29

u/HeySwanSong May 21 '16

I feel like Sugar in the end. Had no idea when I watched the first episode of this show a few years ago that it would be one of my favorites of all time.

13

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Seriously though, when I first picked up this show those years ago, I had just watched the trailer and figured I could pass the time with it, and it evolved into something I truly loved.

4

u/broadfuckingcity May 28 '16

Sugar boxing things up as we box up our memories of the show...waterworks.

28

u/rflairfan1 May 21 '16

If it's cool with everyone I am going to choose to believe that Proctor lived...please let me have this.

24

u/[deleted] May 21 '16

It's cool. No need to show him dying or getting out alive. The open ending was perfect. He's already lost everything that really mattered to him.

8

u/STUPID-GUY May 21 '16

Am totally cool with it. Infact here is my theory how he survived. He killed off the Cartel's first kill unit (one we saw in this episode) , contacted the local brotherhood and went on a all out war with cartels. After 5-6 months cartel came to their senses and they finally negotiated a deal with Proctor and the brotherhood.

2

u/[deleted] May 22 '16

In an extreme scenario, if he survived the cartel, the Senator may choose to protect him from any investigations over the drug trafficking. I'm guessing the Senator must have him protecting him all along, hence his success in the town, his election etc.

1

u/Forsaken_Emu_9905 Apr 10 '25

I think it is quite possible that he took out 6 guys before they could get him. It the drum mag was full, that's 300 shtos

1

u/avocado_window May 25 '25

Don’t stop believin’ (Proctor’s favourite song, probably)

1

u/CommiePanda7 May 21 '16

Well he didn't take a single shot.

26

u/sardu1 May 21 '16

Sugar's last words.. I've heard that before

25

u/K_O_T_Z May 21 '16

I'm really pleased. It wasn't happy per se, but it was the happiest ending we could have gotten and I'm glad about that. The Bunkerbowl was terrific; Hood is finally, well, whole again. A fine ending in the only way Banshee could end: blood, violence, emotions, and Job.

66

u/GaiusSherlockCaesar May 21 '16

This was, honestly, one of the most, if nit the most, satisfying series finale's I've ever seen. They wrapped everything up nicely, everthing was addressed, I like that we didn't get to know Hood's name. And finally some dialogue from Sugar!

14

u/SawRub May 21 '16

Yeah if they had tried to force a name on us now it would have felt a bit meaningless at this point, so I'm glad they left it a mystery.

11

u/mr_popcorn May 29 '16

Plus it plays into the whole "Man with no name", Western theme the show had with Hood.

Potential Spoiler

...

...

...

...

If you freeze frame the arrest report, the name is literally John Smith. Producers fucking with us.

I never cared. Glad I don't really know. I just need to recap his timeline in my head. I can't figure out when he was a young thief, when he was army, when he was black ops, to 15 years in Jail and still looks about late 30's

A closeup up of the fbi file shows his name as john smith but im not sure if its his real name or a placeholder.

11

u/horseradish1 May 21 '16

That was the name they gave him because he outright refused to ever name himself. He spent all those years in prison without a name.

For real, though, no name pisses me off a little. It breaks the unspoken promise this show made in its first episode.

I was unaware that this was the season finale, so when the scene started between Brock and Hood where they say goodbye by looking at each other, I started screaming in my head (maybe a little bit out loud too).

This has been my favorite show since day one, and now that it's over, I have no idea what to do with my life. It's the only show I've watched in four years! I guess I'm just going to have to re-watch everything again!

Has anyone watched the webisodes? Are they good?
