I know nothing about Game of Thrones, so I'm going to choose to believe that that's how things work in the books and the show.

u/yaddar Apr 01 '16

What? No Cleganeball pun?

u/yaddar Apr 01 '16 edited Apr 01 '16
I thought of adding House Clegane, but they are not actual players on the Game. (although they do influence it)
If I added the Cleganes, I'd have to add a LOT more, (like Mormont or Manderly or Dondarrion or Hightower or Tarly...)

(Or Seaworth or Botley or Rosby or Massey or Florent or...I see your point)

If I know the internet, and I've seen some things from that internet, it is hardly the first.

u/TheRighteousTyrant Apr 01 '16
At first I thought that was Robin or Lysa Arryn proposing something totally retarded, because, well . . .
But now I see it's Littlefinger being devious as usual.
Also, this needs to be a thing.

agreed.
besides the endless political drama and many many houses and factions, there is also a LOT of potential for funny flag jokes.
and even book vs show jokes.

Have you posted this to r/GameOfThrones? Is that allowed?

u/yaddar Apr 01 '16 edited Apr 01 '16
we cannot x-post to subs with more than 30K users (not unless we want risk getting banned from here)
it's a rule to prevent a sudden influx of immigrants not familiar with the PB culture.
r/thronescomics has only 3K users tho :)

well, the whole saga is about Jon Snow
"A song of ice and fire" = A son of ice and fire. (R+L=J)
they will win, but they won't know it.
... unless, of course, everyone loses.
(I mention theories because I started to use reddit because of r/asoiaf)

The story is an epic (and paced like one). GRRM knows you gotta put your heroes through the worst things possible for them to climb out of it. I would argue Dany is a closer protagonist than Jon, if only because an epic tale requires a journey (though both of them have been putzing in one spot for a while now); Hell, Arya and Brann have gone on a more epic quest than Jon.
But yeah, the Stark family is far from done and if you were to reduce the whole arc into a three act form the Red Wedding was the end of act one. The pieces are set up for the third, but I'd personally be let down if Jon left the wall to ride dragons and be king. He's sacrificed family, love and himself for that damn cause, assuming a birthright after he inevitably gets resurrected (though how cool would it be if he didn't?) would just be bad writing.

GRRM says a bittersweet ending so we know not whether the starks will win necessarily

he's ok, but he also tengos to get a LOT of things wrong at the very base of his theories... if you go past that, they make quite a lot of sense (like the lemon tree and Daenerys)
For example, Brandon never slept with Ashara Dayne, it was NED and they got a kid together.
(that was my 1st post on reddit BTW, and hot me my 1st gold)
As well as the Fact Tyrion IS the iligitimate son of Aerys Targaryen, (the third head of the dragon, the third of targaryen blood alive) and Preston says it's not.
