The LA Dodgers lose their playoff series 3 games to 1 to the St. Louis Cardinals. Top thread in /r/dodgers asks Cardinals fans to not say "Good series." Cardinals fans show up. Entire thread is loaded with drama.
If you have time, do yourself a favor and read most of the comment chains in the thread. Slapfighting everywhere.
And just wait until you get to the hidden comments at the bottom...

Have fun getting beat up and shot at by gangs.
Isn't St. Louis one of the top 50 murder per capita cities in the world? I don't see LA on that list.

I feel like a lot of people outside California get their impression of LA from 80s/90s rap, as well as movies and TV shows about the LAPD and gangs. LA is nowhere near the worst of American cities when it comes to crime, but I see insults like this hurled so often online.

The numbers for St. Louis are a little hinky because for most the city and surround county are together, where St. Louis County is not part of St. Louis City. Its an annual thing where everyone has to have a rant when the 'Top X dangerous cities' articles pop up.

Yeah, I used to live in Wellston/U City during grad school, so I remember all of that being an issue. If you look at the MSA murder rate though, it's still not better than LA.

East St Louis is one of the more dangerous cities in the US, but it's actually in Illinois and not Missouri, so I guess that makes things complicated.

I got lost over there once. The worst thing I remember is that it seemed to be engineered very much in a way to keep you in, and not let you out, like I couldn't get back on the interstate like one normally would, and instead I had to drive around this area, and this was before the days of GPS. Then someone lent me a book about that little township that's by the airport? I can't think of its name anymore, but it had an incredibly rich history and used to be a middle class black township, there used to be an airfield there where teddy roosevelt took a plane ride or something. Anyway, the book detailed how the city reacted by effectively walling the township off with the construction of an interstate and an actual wall, and how it had a pretty devastating effect on commerce. And now the town is like the typical north st louis city wasteland.
edit: Kinloch. That's the one. It still had segregated schools up until 1975! & here's the book.

The Cardinals have been successful for so long they've acquired a substantial surplus of shitty fans.

Every team has their bad fans. This thread just seemed to bring them into the open

My favorite exchange in that thread:
(Dodger fan): At least we get our NFL team back.
(Cardinal fan): Enjoy.

Ayy lmao, this is the culmination of so many r/baseball jerks and counter-jerks. Since my team was kind enough to choke before the playoffs, I can just sit back and munch popcorn with y'all.

I posted about this in r/Cardinals after they won yesterday, but it bears reiterating. NBA, NFL, MLB, CFB, DON'T FUCKING GO INTO THE OTHER TEAM'S SUB
Read, fine. Converse during the season, fine. But don't fucking goddamn go into their sub after a series or beating them to "congratulate them on a good series" or whatever bullshit you concoct to rub it in their faces. Jesus fucking christ. Team subs are a place for fans to vent and be salty for a while. Don't be the asshole that everybody hates on the sports subs.

We could end racism if everybody would just change their shirts.
