For just a second at the end there when Dark Kurama spoke, I thought it was Jiraiya about to talk to Minato. :(

I like how Hinata is relegated to a human telescope

Well, I mean, what is everyone else doing?

u/Jimm607 Oct 01 '14
exactly, at least shes useful, the only people useful at this point are kage (who, other than the reanimated hokage are all still getting there), or one of the prodigies trained by sanin. Telescope, pep talker and brain broadcasting are about as useful as you get.

Great episode!
Minato's jutsu names are just too hilarious!
10
u/MadEyeJoker Sep 26 '14
He nailed it on the Amaterasu-enhanced Rasenshuriken though. I don't remember it exactly but it was a pretty awesome name.

u/etheryx Sep 25 '14
That sage mode jutsu was so sick, his entrance reminded me of when Naruto crushed one of Pain's puppets in one swoop.

Minato totally got beat with Obito's words. Its pretty sad but that combo though!

u/FemaleTitan Sep 25 '14
Just a different OST in the Hashirama vs Madara fight could've made it so much better.
Also Tobirama being a badass as usual.

I loved this episode!!!
Any moment when Naruto shocks Sasuke is a moment worth watching and rewatching again, lol. Plus, Kurama's other half :DDD
So excited for next weeks episode, it looks like it's gonna be awesome.

u/screen317 Sep 29 '14
I know what you mean, but wasn't Kurama already split up into the Gold & Silver bros?
2
u/thatguywiththepi Sep 29 '14
Once, they [the Gold and Silver Bros.] were assigned to capture the Nine-Tailed Demon Fox, but were swallowed whole. However, they survived, and thrashed inside the tailed beast's stomach for two weeks, eventually forcing the Nine-Tails to regurgitate them. When in its stomach, they survived by eating the flesh of the beast. An elderly Kumo-nin noted that when the fox finally regurgitated the brothers, they both came out looking like miniature versions of the beast due to having acquired a portion of the fox's chakra.

When Naruto activated the Rasengan and Tobirama teleports to him and Obito...damn that synergy, like they never did something else.
30
Sep 25 '14
It seemed a lot faster in the manga. Like Tobirama turned around, saw that Naruto was keeping up, transported behind him to grab him, transported behind Obito... BOOM!!!
In the anime, it seems like Obito just has insanely slow reactions because Tobirama and Naruto were taking their sweet old time.

Do you happen to remember what chapter this was in? I'd like to look at it but I don't follow the manga.

u/jpepper07 Sep 25 '14
Did he even use a clone to make that Rasengan? That makes it more badass, its like yeah I got this ready for you!

This was a fun episode. No idea how people feel about the animation, as I was never particularly bothered by the previous episode myself.
Also, any time Sasuke is left dumbfounded is a good time.
48
u/ProperLogic Sep 25 '14
This was normal I'd say, a few very good looking parts, but nothing to whine about. I'd prefer it this way over the last episode.
14
u/Keychupp Sep 25 '14
I thought hiashirama's wood golem tripping madara's susano by getting behind his foot was kinda ridiculous
22
u/Engbjerg Sep 25 '14
What? that is literalley a classic martial art move, sweeping away your opponents feet? I feel like it was awesome to see actual fighting technique for once!
5
u/ProperLogic Sep 25 '14
I feel like after seeing what they did with Obito last week, that anything would look good now.
8
u/Logram Sep 25 '14
I just can't believe how bad Obito looks. He looks like a green alien.
7
u/Aytems Sep 26 '14
obito is cell confirmed, last weeks episode he turned into a fat fuck and now he changed form!
6
Sep 25 '14
I loved the ending. The rasengan to the back looked like a picture copy from the manga.
Everything was okay. Nothing worthy of a whine, nothing worthy of a trophey. Regular Naruto

Tobirama is one of the best characters despite not appearing in the 99% of the show.
55
Sep 25 '14
32
u/InvaderDJ Sep 25 '14
It wasn't that he couldn't believe it, he didn't even know what Naruto did. Only Tobirama realized what Naruto was doing and the significance of what Gamakichi did.
5
u/finally_got_one Sep 26 '14
Was this his first time seeing Naruto use sage mode?
14
u/MadEyeJoker Sep 26 '14
Yeah, the only other time Naruto really used it was against Pain.
6
Sep 30 '14
He used it when fighting the tailed beasts, he used it against the third raikage, and he used it against the ten tails.

Itachi has a Perfect susano'o, right?
5
Sep 25 '14
No. He has a armored Susanoo.
Complete is full bodied with legs.
Perfect is what Madara achieves with red eyes. Perfect Stabalized is the form after that. You can tell from the yellow eyes.

Itachi still does not have a perfect susanoo. That's why you're getting downvoted.
Edit: Also saying "you fucks" isn't going along great with you.

Tobirama showing these youngbloods what's up. Whenever you get worried, just remember, Nidaime got this shit on lock down.
Love how he keeps calling Minato and Naruto goofballs, he's known them for like 2 hours and he already sees it XD.

all them stupid brats listening to that rock music! what happened to the will of fire?
1
u/MadEyeJoker Sep 26 '14
His body was wrecked by Obito. It was revealed this episode that Obito is using a powerful jutsu that nullifies ninjutsu, including reanimation. This means that any reanimation attacked by Obito cannot heal, which is also why Minato's arm didn't regenerate.
I hope they find a way to get Madara hit by this!

Since when can Naruto do a one handed rasengan?
55
u/naran6142 Sep 25 '14
I've been thinking that by this point he should have a crazy amount of experience creating rasengans from all the shadows clones that he can do it one handed.
I bet he creates shadow clones for rasengan out of habit haha.

Sep 26 '14
He's been able to do one handed ransengans ever since Kurama stopped messing with him, regardless of whichever mode he's in. As long as there isn't any chakra interference inside him, he can mould chakra like anyone else. Remember, that's why it took him shadow clones before.
It's similar to Sage Arts + Kurama. If Kurama cooperates, he can combine the two as well.

He didn't he used one of his tails as a hand.
unless you are talking about the beginning when he was running with sasuke not when tobirama ported him.

It comes and goes basically. Whenever it is needed for the plot or needed to make a statement (this time that Naruto has truly come into his own as a ninja and is definitely his father's son).

As awesome as this episode was, I still can't get over today's manga chapter. I'm ready for more animated Tobirama.
11
u/jpepper07 Sep 25 '14
Tobirama is amazing! His ability to support his team and know when to push with his flash moves is nice! He is so smart, always building a plan, he is like the more badass strong version of shikamaru.

u/ediaz0209 Sep 25 '14
This definitely made up for last weeks episode. Those combo Jutsu lived up to their name.
26
u/little-lion Sep 25 '14
The anime is doing an excellent job of the manga.
It isn't dragging out scenes, its improving them.
Great respect for Tobirama. Funny as hell hearing
Tobirama telling Naruto he's as goofy as his father.

u/NeonBlizzard Sep 26 '14
It isn't dragging out scenes, its improving them.
I wouldn't say this. Yes sometimes it is, and sometimes it isn't. Case and point, in this ep with the Naruto/Tobirama combo, it was much faster in the manga, as if both Naruto and Tobirama caught on immediately and then acted immediately. In the anime there was a lot of posturing and just standing around before the attack. Not horrible by any means, but I think the manga did that scene better.

I love how obito is pissed off at everyone for not being rins personal bodyguard. They have other shit they gotta do obito! they cant just baby sit rin the entire fucking time they're alive!
5
u/MadEyeJoker Sep 26 '14
And it's not like Rin died out of carelessness. She suicided on Kakashi's arm instead of fleeing the area to come up with a solid plan after consulting the Hokage on the best course of action re: 3-tails
20
u/SirVicke Sep 25 '14
The animation was actually quite good.
4
u/Nepycros Sep 25 '14
It should be the lower threshold of the anime's animation quality, at the very least.

Pretty good episode. It was a bit strange that they extended Hashirama and Madara fighting, but that wasn't necessarily bad. The next episode looks like it has quite bad animation though.

I thought it was cute how they threw in that filler part with Hinata saying how cool Naruto is.
6
u/CloudCollapse Sep 25 '14
iirc, a lot of the people working on the anime are NaruHina fans, so I guess they're trying to give her more screen time.

I actually liked the animation today http://i.imgur.com/SrSBhcv.png But I don't like the expression on Juubito

Next episode is Naruto's birthday? Wow, shows how much will happen in the next 24 hours then to catch up to the manga.
Fantastic episode! Loved seeing other half of Kurama, everyone realizing Naruto is a combat-genius in his own regard (loved seeing Sasuke confused too about it...is this the first time he's seen Naruto's sage mode?), and all the team ups: NaruSasu, Tobinato, Tobiratu (if these names didn't exist before now so be it)

3
Sep 25 '14
Wait wait wait, the Kurama half that Minato has is the bad half? What? How can a Bijuu have a good and bad side? Is this gonna be explained manga readers?
4
u/HokageEzio Sep 25 '14
Yin and Yang, good and bad. Minato took the bad half to the grave (I think that is Yin), he gave Naruto the easier half (Yang). He wanted to make it as easy as possible for Naruto to control the Nine Tails, so he split it in half between the two.
→ More replies (3)2
Sep 25 '14
When Minato put the nine tails in Naruto he put either the Yin or the Yang part in him. If I'm not mistaken. But yea, he kept the other part in himself.

Those fillers from a few weeks ago left a really bad taste in my mouth and I only watched 1 minute of one episode. So bad in fact that last week's episode did nothing for me. But, the tide has shifted today and I am fully intrenched in the series again. Sage mode came in play again which is one of the feats Naruto truly earned that sentiment hit home very hard. Also, I like Sage mode, because its a Earth based power, Naruto using it seems like he's got Gaia's blessing to fight her destroyers.
This was a great episode that I really needed. I went in halfheartedly and came out really excited to see what's next; speaking as an Anime only watcher(AOW?).

Why did Minato beat himself up about not recognizing Obito when he attacked the village? Given the knowledge he had about Obito at the time, what reasoning could he have come up with to believe that the guy was Obito?
And what was with the end of the episode? I thought Minato only took half of the Kurama's Chakra and placed the rest of it and his body inside of Naruto, how does Minato have a projection of Kurama inside of him?

u/symmetricalbeauty Sep 29 '14
Confused about Madara's early life someone help me understand. Itachi says Madara killed his younger brother to achieve mangekyou sharingan yet it shows Tobirama killing his younger brother. How did Madara obtain mangekyou sharingan? I'm confused

I'm so glad this wasn't another 'Shikamaru is so smart' episode. Totally caught me off guard on how epic this episode would be.

I don't get why everyone starts to hate on the animation. As an amateur animator whose very first animated short was short listed for a national competition I have my own thoughts and opinions on why it was bad, but sometimes I feel like people are just jumping on the bandwagon and hating on it for the sake of it. Animating isn't easy.

Tobirama was born tired of everyone's shit from the get go.
