Stealing from the article about it; Until 2010, the UK's Green Party wanted an EU wide ban on embryonic stem cell research. Parts of a statement from Caroline Lucas were reminiscent of the religious right:

I think plumbers are paid pretty well here as well, I think it's more a play on the fact that people moan about them coming to take our jobs, but that's simply because more Polish/Eastern Europeans are actually applying for them.

But I agrees, EU should be of working together on topics who are not bounded by border, like environments and criminals and trades. EU should not be of dictates what to do with national stuffs like pensions.
And of course everywhere Europe people should of be able to make decent living on wage, also if they is living in Poland or England or Spain.

First of all, flair up!
There is an alternative to low wage jobs - going through some kind of further education or vocational training and taking a job that requires the skills that are actually in demand from industry. There are plenty of career paths that pay very well out there. Yet for some reason you never hear people in those jobs complaining about immigrants taking their jobs.
Alternatively, if nothing can be found in the UK, the EU (shock horror!) gives you the freedom to find a job and settle in another EU country! There are over 20 countries to choose from and just like immigrants in the UK, you can equivalently apply to any job there and start working!
