/r/bitcoin is getting upset over other Crytocurrencies being mentioned. One user is trying to divert the traffic to his own subreddit.

This is also a discussion at bitcointalk as well.

Even though the forum has an alternate cryptocurrency section many of the more extreme bitcoin users want that whole section removed.

Since a good amount of bitcoin trading is to buy other coins and the fact the altcoin section, I believe, has more traffic on that forum it would hurt ad revenue.

There is probably be some drama soon when the more serious bitcoin bugs attempt to destroy all other coins only to damage themselves.

The "calls of dogecoin being doomed" is my favorite. Specifically this comment.

Even more specifically, this line:

This is the problem. Dogecoin isn't all serious because it isn't serious and à real currency is serious because people's lives and futures depend on it.

The future drama over r/gaben_coin will be amazing if they get a tipping bot working.

I think I'm a pretty unbiased guy in terms of coins, because I've never owned any, but I've kept up with BTC since like 2010. I genuinely just like them because of their technical and (while miniscule) societal impacts.

I just think some coiners have too much riding on their respective coin...

BTC built it's SRSBSNS reputation because so many people's livelyhoods actually ride on BTC, They pretty much defined the etiquette for coins. It goes without saying none of these coins would exist without BTC.

Back when LTC came out I honestly thought it was gonna replace BTC, purely because of the block time. Obviously that didn't happen because too much money was already in BTC. Even recently people that "missed the train" with BTC invested in LTC, because they expected the same thing to happen.

Dogecoins managed to avert the stereotype of being a scamcoin, by averting all the serious business "investors". As far as I can tell the dogecoin community isn't glued to bitcoinity's charts watching every fluctuation. If anything dogecoin is bitcoins last great hope in terms of getting widespread adoption. Once you know how one coin works, you know it all.

I envisioned a future with ISK and all I got was a doge.

So do you see doge as an investment rather than a currency?

The one thing I see that doge has going for it is the inflation, in comparison to all the other coins.

Honestly I have such a hard time envisioning the future for dogecoin, I figure once the meme gets stale or the business gets serious, the community might rebrand the coin.

Alternatively the meme never gets stale and doge goes to the moon.

The lack of self-awareness of bitcoiners is what genuinely turns me off from them. Are they really so sure that bitcoin is going to be the future? Why do they think bitcoin is so much more secure than other cryptocurrencies? They are so dismissive of other internet moniez that it seems like they don't understand they are still an internet moniez. I have a sinking feeling this is all going to come tumbling down, and soon.

I mean, is anyone surprised? R/bitcoin is run by people with a large stake in bitcoin, and anyone switching to other currencies will make their investments fall in value..... And if that happens they'll never destroy the federal reserve and create their libertarian utopia. Good thing doge pin has more reasonable goals, all they want is the moon.
