Look Here! OFFICIAL /r/AFC Suggestions Thread

Hey guys!

We wanted to create an official forum for people to discuss and throw out suggestions to the mod team for this sub. It could be a series, or a rule, or a layout suggestion, but we want to hear what would make this place better for the community!

I'd also like to give a big shout-out to /u/cubedG for making this place look amazing and /u/LustinSpace for working so hard to refine his vision for what this place will be.

We look forward to hearing everyone's suggestions.

Love ya,

Mod Team

Weekly AFC Power Rankings thread.

1-16 using only AFC teams.

1 power ranker from each team.

Basically the r/nfl power rankings but only using AFC teams.

I like this a lot.

It would need to be a different 16 guys than the one's who do r/nfl though. Otherwise the rankings would just be the r/nfl without the NFC in them.

Agreed. So you are not acceptable and you stink.

u/nickmangoldsbeard Oct 24 '13

That just means I could have u/kuatobaradanikto do the r/AFC chiefs rankings and I could do the r/AFC homer rankings ;)

u/KuatoBaradaNikto Oct 24 '13

Aww yeah buddy. Aww yeah.

2

u/cubedG Oct 24 '13

I thought he already does the Chiefs?

1

u/Skarmotastic Oct 24 '13

I can do Texans. Lusty's got them in r/nfl.

2

u/Raktoner Oct 24 '13

I don't do the r/nfl rankings so I can do Denver... B)

Oh I know bby.

Do you want to take point on this? You could probably message u/ander1dw and he might be able to give you some pointers on the stuff that we do.

I'll take the Titans then, so there's one of the sixteen different.

4

u/cubedG Oct 24 '13

Noted, but just hold out a little as we'll start all this this weekend.

u/icangetyouatoedude Oct 24 '13

Also, that excludes u/smacksaw from ranking.

1

u/smacksaw Oct 25 '13

I can rank for the Broncos if it's a different team.

1

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '13

I'd be the Bills ranker if possible

1

u/great_gator_bait Oct 24 '13

I'll take Miami!! Please!!

1

u/cubedG Oct 24 '13

I like it.

I like this plan, would be cool to not only see the rankings for just the conference but to see how much it deviates from the r/NFL rankings.

Dibs on Pats

u/Raktoner Oct 24 '13

Post it in the sign up thread =)

Just a small thing: Can you guys possibly change the "Reddit NFL" logo to "Reddit AFC"?

On the top of the subreddit.

Coming soon :)

Overlooked player performance of the week, player of the week

4

u/jckgat Oct 24 '13

Or perhaps a more focused player of the week from each division.

5

u/yangar Oct 24 '13

Also, something like "Match-up of the Week?"

16

u/MisallocatedRacism Oct 24 '13

"Hate on the NFC" day

6

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '13

Perhaps a thread once a week like trash talk, but only allowed to hate on NFC?

9

u/MisallocatedRacism Oct 24 '13

Yep. Nothing but pure, unhinged, arbitrary hatred.

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '13
  • Describe your teams week with one gif thread each week

  • Overreaction Monday

  • Trash Talk Thread especially about NFC Teams

4

u/justplainjeremy Oct 25 '13

Over reaction Monday? I really love this idea, needs to be a thing.

2

u/great_gator_bait Oct 25 '13

I would also like to see Overreaction Monday be a thing (MNF teams can join in on Tuesday)

u/cubedG Oct 24 '13

I just want to note that I can't take much credit for the layout as it is mostly a copy and paste job from r/nfl.

6

u/yangar Oct 24 '13

Copypasta is a time-honored tradition of reddit.

It should really say AFC instead of NFL.

I'd like to see some divisional discussion days. For example, AFC West on Tuesday, AFC South on Wednesday, etc. Obviously, this schedule would need to be altered depending on the week and the Thursday night game.

Each team would have a separate thread for discussion, where it would give a review of their last game as well as the preview of the upcoming game. Here is an example that I wrote for /r/patriots a couple weeks ago.

I think it would be very beneficial for discussion throughout the sub and would let users get to know other teams as well.

Maybe someone can do like a game film study thread. Now where does one get game film?

NFL Game Rewind

1

u/sportsfan786 Oct 25 '13

Is there a software that lets you record what's happening on your screen in the Game Rewind, to create highlight vids and gifs?

3

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '13

A link to this article in the sidebar. Required reading: The Foolish Club

Maybe work these fine young men into the header? http://www.profootballhof.com/assets/default/Foolish_Club(2).jpg

Maybe we could have the playoff standings higher up and possibly bigger. We are all battling each other for those spots.

I think that the sidebar should be changed daily or at least every other day. I just think there is more than one interesting thing to happen in a week.

3

u/Encyderr Oct 25 '13

Under-recognized coach or players of the week award?

2

u/[deleted] Oct 24 '13

Weekly team rundowns? upcoming matchup preview, injured players, past game review, anything relevant to each AFC team every week.

2

u/golfmade Oct 25 '13

Might be a lot of work but: If anyone is good with video editing perhaps each week put together clips of the AFC team's best sacks, catches, TDs, etc.

2

u/the_intersect Oct 25 '13

Weekly NFC Stinks thread where we talk about how smelly they are and point out every single one of their mistakes.
