I've heard people say 'Sikkim is the rock n' roll' capital of the country a lot. I find this extremely hard to believe but apparently music is just everywhere. You have taxi drivers listening to 70's music and stuff. Perhaps in terms of the spread of music and its acceptance in all walks of life it may be called the rock n' roll capital but I don't know how far it can compare to a Bangalore or Bombay with the amount of talent in those cities.
2nd I've always noticed how people from the north-east are almost without exception well dressed. I asked a friend of mine from Manipur about this (please excuse the digression) and he told me that its sort of a problem because a lot of people tend to live outside their means. I find that really interesting.

This are the two main things I know about Sikkim :
-
Sikkim could have chosen to be a independent nation, but they were smart/stupid(?) enough to vote for a union with India
-
Sikkim state assembly reserves a seat for the Buddhist clergy !! So much for our secularism !

Smart. India had granted them suzerainty for several years before they were annexed into India. China would've given them shit. Any country that values its freedom over anything else would pick India, logically.

I am not sure but in Gangtok, one may get good clothings at cheaper rate, thanks to Nepal from where these goods are brought illegally

How I wish I could buy a piece of land, build a house and spend the rest of my life in piece in a place like Sikkim. It's absolutely gorgeous. Is it possible for outsiders to go and settle there u/Saketme?

I'd love to go to Sikkim to spend a long vacation. How safe is it and what can you do there ?

I'd love to go to Sikkim to spend a long vacation.
Totally worth it. Sikkim is beautiful.
How safe is it
Very. It's one of those places where you can forget a bag in a shared SUV (primary mode of public transport in Sikkim) and there's a 90% chance of getting it back. People are nice.
what can you do there?
The whole state is up on the Himalayas. If you like the mountains, it's the heaven. In particular -
Yumthang is a must-go place. Apart from that, Namchi, Ravangla, Pelling, Gangtok (I personally don't like Gangtok but you need a base camp.) The best part is probably the drives from one place to another. It's breathtaking.
Try the local food.
Alcohol is cheap and abundant. Every 5th building has a bar.

I travel mostly on budget and cannot afford huge hotel fares. Where do I look for info on nice hotels to stay at and places to cover?

Two things that other states can learn from Sikkim:
-
Plastic bags are banned.
-
Fireworks are banned.
Makes life much more pleasant to live. Perhaps inconvenient and times, but pleasant nonetheless.

Link to Skewed Sex Ratio Study
Quotes from Article:
State Human development report 2001 postulates that the unfavorable sex ratio over the last few decades may be attributed to the other factors like in – migration of large number of male workers from different states of India (State Human development reports 2001). The highest decline in the sex ratio was recorded during 1971 – 1981, which stands at lower at 835 as against 934 of national figure and this coincides with the high influx of migrant workers. The presence of large number of defense personals because of strategic importance of the state which is surrounded by three international boundaries of Nepal, China and Bhutan vis-à-vis migration of male workers in various developmental projects after 1975 onwards could also be other factors responsible for waning sex ratio.
In socio – economic front of Sikkim, the women generally are not secluded and the instances of female infanticide have not been officially reported in the state. Women in Sikkim enjoy many freedoms and have recorded significant gains in human development. However, akin to the many parts of the world, still women are deprived from many social inequalities in counterpart of their men (Sikkim Human Development Report 2001).
Sikkim Development Report 2008 prepared by Planning Commission, Government of India contend that unlike many other Indian states, particularly in the northern India, the sex ratio in the age group of 0-4 is relatively high (964 females per 1000 males) in Sikkim. This is a very strong indicator of respect for girl children in the state.
It confirms that the people in the state do not practice ills like discrimination against girl child or female foeticide. If we see in the age group belonging to 0-29 years for the state as a whole, the female population remains relatively higher thereby leading to a much higher sex ratio of over 90 per cent. One can find a drastic fall in the sex ratio after the 0-29 years of age group and steadily goes down to as low as 65.5 per cent (i.e. 655 females per 1000 males) by the time they attain 55-59 age group. It again starts improving steadily after the 60-64 age group and reaches a better ratio of 86 per cent in the 80+ age group
TL;DR:
Skewed Ratio maybe attributed to :
Migrant male workers.
Maternal Mortality
Disclaimer: I just googled it out. Maybe some local person could give you a better picture.

I tried Hit and Dansburg while I was there. Liked both. Both had a fruity kind of smell.

What do people of Sikkim think of the newly imposed rules by mods in r/india? Because some chutiyas from different parts of the country can not think anything else apart from this burning issue

College student currently living in Sikkim here. This state is beautiful and I'm yet to travel all the places. Ask me any questions :)
Edit: More details:
This place is (again) just beautiful and when the whole north India is sweating in summer (April, May, June), it snows heavily here.
Technology doesn't have a place here. 3G services are bad, but hey, this place isn't about tech. It makes you forget about technology with its beauty.
Stuff are expensive here since they've to be transported from West Bengal.
