"Do they drink champagne in the South?" - Screw you, it's the South not a different planet. Also, kill me now with all these little house on the prairie looks. No one I know dresses like that.

Ken quote of the night: "It looks like what Harriet Tubman would have worn after she got her freedom". What does that even mean?
The Ken/Heidi stare down was also terrific. I'm glad the judges could finally see his attitude.

Helen needs to relax. Dom has been safe for 4 weeks straight and not said a word. She sent out a blah floral dress and won last week. Shut up. Her behavior kinda reminded me of that chiffon-obsessed girl in season 9, who was pissy about being safe IN THE FIRST CHALLENGE. "It's just not good enough". Calm down.

These looks are poorly constructed and look cheap. Daisies and plaid? It's a caricature of what they think a southern woman would wear. I'm not impressed with the designers this season.

I feel bad for Dom. If she had just done that second dress the first time around it would have been in the top.
Edit: YAY DOM. GET IT, GIRL.
Double edit: DAMN IT, KEN, GTFO.

I've never, ever seen a modern Southern woman wearing plaid to brunch. Not in Texas or Louisiana at least.

And once again, Natasia is stuck with one of the designers who may have the weakest look (or at least has nothing prepared). That poor model.

It's like they asked the designers to dress the "modern woman of Mars". Martians like plaid, right? Apparently plaid is southern? I've lived in the south for 30 years, plaid is not the first thing I think of when I think Southern Woman. You know what I do think? For Alabama, black and white hounds tooth all the clothes! Apart from that? Black and white prints (for the past 3 years). This is where I thought Dom was going to have it right before she ditched the pattern for her smock dress. Then again the judges have zero clue what those strange and backwards southern... people? Does the south have people, or is it a large collection of shaved apes and mutants? So they were wayyy off on judging. Yay plaid! That goes well with the modern southern Morlock and her plaid lawns and tartan trees.
I'm even more disappointed that Ken completely blew his chance to rep-re-sent (205 in the house!) Surely he's seen one or two women pass by his car-home when he was urban camping. Instead we got a saggy bridesmaid's dress. What he did the second time around was just a thick gold hoop belt and giant gold triangle earrings away from dancing in a 1990's hip hop video. /rant

I am so excited to watch Ken crash and burn on a challenge that he's suited for.

They are clearly keeping Ken as this season's villain... he's CONSISTENTLY in the bottom and him and/or Alexandria deserved to go home far more than he

I just think this challenge was kind of ambiguous just because most of them didn't know what the "modern" southern woman was. I mean, the brunch gave them some adjectives, but adjectives can't always make an outfit. I felt like they should have been more specific when explaining the challenge.

What was going on with the model of the orange safe dress? She was waving and posing her hands like she was trying to hide a hole or something.

I completely do not understand the focus on the country kitchen look?
Did they understand the concept of a Modern Southern Woman is not Daisy Duke in a dress?
While Angry Man's dress was not great, at least it was not a "fresh from the farm" tablecloth dress.
I do not understand the judges at all a lot of the time.
They were looking at the looks needing to be on 7th Avenue, when their focus should have been Peachtree Street Atlanta.

They are featuring Ken and Dom a lot, which seems to indicate that they will be in the bottom/top. This definitely seem like Kate's strong area as well. I would love to see Alexander do well, since this challenge seems very not him (as he said himself).

I'm watching a rerun and every time I see this episode it makes me so mad. I'm a lifelong Southern woman and I wouldn't wear any of the dresses. We're not from another planet. Why did they not have real Southern women as judges?!

I'm really surprised about the backlash against the plaid, which I thought was the modern aspect. Plaid is super trendy this year, it's been on a lot of runways. It looked like both Alexander and Brandon would have used plaid regardless. Alexandria was just a disaster. Her dress was like an unconventional materials dress, that's insane. But Alexanders was fine, and Brandon's was amazing.
I'm so shocked at Dom's dress. I thought it was the worst thing on the runway. To turn around and give her the same win as someone who actually won the challenge seems incredibly unfair.
Kate has made the same kind of babydoll dress three times in this season so far. With the short hemline, volume at the waist and high neckline. If I see it one more time, I'm going to flip. She's making Kenley outfits, which is like project runway poison.
That being said, to take the bottom 3 and to say "The dresses you made for this department store challenge are too department store" is ridiculous. Oh project runway, I love your temperamental bitchiness.

Every single girl in my Texas area would wear Kate's dress with varying colors. There are major party colleges around and this would be in style.

I hope Ken doesn't get out, I really want Dom to win for once, but my final line is simply, plaid is not southern!
Right now, my final thing is, while watching, is I really hope Ken doesn't blow up. I just really hope he holds it together.

Remember last season when there was a prom dress challenge and none of the judges had ever been to a prom? This challenge was sort of like that.
