MOD Looking for Story Thread #288
This thread is where all the "Looking for Story" requests go. We don't want to clog up the front page with non-story content. Thank you!

There's a story I find hard to summarize in a sentence, so it's difficult to search for:
Aliens meet humans and, just from seeing humans walk, wonder if humans are just geniuses compared to them. Later, when comparing ship designs, the aliens get frustrated because humans never incorporate how every new addition impacts the rest of the ship. The humans get frustrated that the aliens can't compartmentalize, and don't accept answers along the lines of, "this is a Mess Hall, it's addition doesn't really have a meaningful impact on the strength of the hull on another part of the ship."
I find that story to be a great exploration of how alien minds might work differently in a way that shows how mundane human thought can be special and cool.

There was a specific story I read a long time ago. I'll try to give a summary:
So, a human is captured by alien slavers. He is interrogated, specifically about the gravity gravity of his homeworld. The aliens soon deem him problematic, and attempt to execute him via feeding him to another deathworlder. The human and deathworlder fight for a bit, get tired, and decide to rebel against the slavers. The deathworlder is revealed to be royalty on her homeworld. They successfully escape with the help of a centaur-like alien, and the human then takes the deathworlder to earth. They then have kids or something?
It was a while ago, so I definitely forgot some details, but does anyone recognize this?

im looking for a story where there is an alien former warrior who after their war was lost ran a cargo ship on his own untill his ship gets a colony of humans (who are very small in comparason) he lets them stay for company. later he finds out that a member of royalty is being attacked but he can't help as his fighter was damaged and left in his cargo bay but the humans had fixed it as a token of thanks.
i've read it before but forgot to save, i've been looking for over a week and it is driving me mental

Could it be one of the Gremlins stories?

Don't know if anyone remembers it, but it was a reaper story.
As I recall, our reaper was showing another how hard his job is. As an example, I believe he takes the other reaper to a triage area in a warzone. He tries reaping one injured soldier's soul, but the soul of the medic was fighting the reaper as the medic was working on the injured soldier. And how the human's reaper's job was harder because humans never give up.
Edit: it was found for anyone interested: https://old.reddit.com/r/HFY/comments/tc7tkc/an_introduction_to_human_death/

trying to find a story with space predators.
from what i can remember, the inciting incident was an alien drone system stumbled accross human radio, and in the course of investigating, a giant space ameoba gets close and humans killed it with nukes (or was it anti-matter?) the 2nd time confuses the aliens cause it looks like another space ameoba just yeeted intself into the sun, its eventually reveal that humans developed what is basically a gravitic thumper that works like a lure and tricked the space ameoba into going into the sun.
other details:
little furry subtarainian desert dweling mammals that worship the space ameoba as gods becaue the process of eating planets kill everything on the surface but leaves a terraformed enviroment ideal for them.
there are space wolves, and they comuicate in barks and howls, but through radio
there's an eldritch abomination hiding in earth's asteroid belt that eats peoples thoughts.
aforementioned eldritch infovore's presence leads to humanity evolving a subconcious robust psyonic defence that causes a LOT of pain for any alien mind readers trying to read human thoughts.

Looking for story where an alien is in a bar and telling how they escaped after crash landing on an unknown planet.
1 human and 2 aliens crashed on a planet. They try to survive, finding animal life on the planet, which the human tries to tame. They send a message in morde code to try and get help. They had to use morse code to save the battery of the ship they crashed in.
It's a series, and the alien telling it goes to the bar everyday as his form of therapy. Never read it till the end cause I lost it
