Guy on r/bodybuilding goes on a rant about young kids asking question. Things go down hill when people find OP's picture and his use of steroids. Then a 15 year old kids post picture of him self and OP gets mad.
People talk op's use of steroids and his physique

You know you're one of my top bros, bro, because you got my back. And I got yours. You're my bro. But you went above and beyond the other night, bromaldehyde. You really did. Saving me that seat at the Velvet Revolver show, even though all those other bros were trying to get up front, bro? So clutch.
You are truly a god among bros.
Just when I think you're as solid as a bro can get, you raise the very definition of brodom to new heights. You're like a brogle, soaring to the farthest reaches of the atbrosphere. Seriously. If it weren't for you and your extreme brobility to hook a bro up when it is most croosh, I'd have been stuck in some bitch-ass seat, cramped all in the corner with a bunch of bitch-asses, bro. But you stepped up. You brovercame all obstacles to help a bro out. This is the kind of shit that makes bros for life.
Brody, I was so stoked when you told Gina to go eat a fat one after she asked if she could have your other ticket, even though you knew you could probably get a pretty deese HJ from her. Bros before hos, bro. That's what I'm talking about.
You are the king of all bros. Brotankhamen. You are the Ayatollah Bromeini. You are Broseidon, lord of the brocean.
But this is just one of many times you've fallen on a grenade for me, brozo. Who took the blame when I broke Skeeter's bong and fucking Skeeter was all fucking pissed? You, bro. Who was the first to bro up and carry that fucking keg of Killian's up four flights of stairs for Duke's surprise party? You, bro. Who was the only Bromo sapien on the planet to tell me he thought the brand-new rims on my F-350 were the shit even though everyone else was all, like, fucking not that excited about them? Bro, you know it was you. You're my broheim supremo, bro, and don't you ever forget it.
I'm so fucking glad we're bros, bro!
I've long admired your absolute broficiency in all things bro-related, and the way you've always carried yourself in a brofessional manner. I consider you a brole model. When I was new in this town, you took me under your wing and showed me the bropes. And I will always preesh that. Not only did you school me in proper brotocol, but you were a spiritual leader, a confidant, and, more importantly, a bro. You taught me how to be true to my inner bro and to bros around me. You are a real bro. Not a fake bro, like those other douches. I hate fake bros, bro. Faux breaux. Fuck that. No, really, bro…you're practically a bro-ther to me.
Look at you, blasting in like Rambro and firing off your launcher like nobrody's business, bro. Serious Brotosaurus Rex action. Brodius Maximus. I'm not big on labels, but you, more than any of the wiggers, bitches, goth chicks, dorks, homos, or Mexicans I know, are absolutely beyond rebroach.
In fact, your brotitude is so brossential that, in many ways, you are the ultimate brototype: You sprung out of the brotean ooze at the very broment of creation, unformed, unmolded, and became the ultimate bro, more powerful than any who came brofore. I don't fear your power, bro, but I respect it. And I will always brobey it.
Brosemite Sam. Potassium Bromide. Brobi Wan Kenobi. Brover Norquist.
Like Broseph Stalin, you are leading the way to the dictatorship of the broletariate. It is truly revbrolutionary. Like the Bro v. Wade of our generation. You brobliterate the enemy from the very peak of Mt. Brolympus. That's some shit. That's brolific. But that's the kind of bro you are.
Bro-S.A.! Bro-S.A.! I'm so pumped right now! Bro-S.A.!
You are the epitome of bro, in every brossible way, and that's the Bro's honest truth, bro. I may have a bropensity for broverstatement, but this no mere hyperbrole: You are 100 brocent, absbrolutely the broest. Brotally.
I wish I had the words to describe what a good friend you are, dude.

Does he have a point that certain diets and cutting aren't wise for those still growing during puberty, or is there no data that it hurts them? I'd figure it is best to get into the lifestyle early so it becomes natural to do, instead of later on after you've grown accustomed to a different lifestyle, so long as it is healthy.
6
u/herman_gill May 24 '13
Dieticians typically don't recommend teenagers (even obese ones) to maintain a caloric deficit.
At most they say to eat at maintenance (while most teenagers actually need to be eating at a surplus for maximal growth).
3
u/Quouar May 24 '13
There can be problems with diets and supplements if they're not properly controlled (i.e. abused), but in terms of everything else, there's no more problem than with an adult.
4
u/Biffingston May 24 '13
That's pretty much true at any age though isn't it?
2
u/Quouar May 24 '13
Yes, but it can be worse at a young age considering the body is still developing.
2
May 24 '13
Well, docs would always advise the wrestlers to cut the shit (the shit being cutting weight and our.. non-healthy methods of doing so). Some of us have stunted/non-maximal growth (growth plates show that we could've been bigger, taller).
So just going off my own experience, I would agree. We'd be starving ourselves for days at a time, kids would pass out during practice and classes etc. Not good.

I thought as much, but when I was in school the stuff we were taught is extreme diets weren't good for someone in puberty because the body can change in unpredictable ways. I think it was just a lot of scared "better play it safe" ideas applied universally instead of specific areas. Normal stuff like lifting weights, running, not eating too much, etc. was ok but fad diets and supplements were off the table.
5
2
u/scamps1 May 24 '13
Cutting isn't that extreme. Its a 500 calorie deficit usually, which is probably not far off your "not eating too much". Its definitely not fad.
12
u/abuttfarting May 24 '13
I don't know anything about bodybuilding, does having such a cut physique at an age when you're still growing have any negative effects later on in life?
68
u/manaiish May 24 '13
Yeah, drowning in pussy can get kinda dangerous
11
u/Annarr May 24 '13
Seriously, teenage girls go insane for muscles. I can't tell you how many times I've been hanging out with friends, and they change the convo to "OMG DID YOU KNOW JAKE HAS ABS GOD DAMN" that kid probably has ladies hanging off of him. Even the ugly kids with muscles get trailed after
7
u/manaiish May 24 '13
Yeah, makes sense that they do. Working out is pretty much a win win for everyone

u/Anosognosia May 24 '13
As long as you don't damage your body in the process then the results aren't dangerous in themselves.
But supplements, steroids and restrictive diets are far from risk free for those still going thru puberty.1
u/Biffingston May 24 '13
Like they're not for people who have?
1
u/Anosognosia May 24 '13
Well, they are probably less riskprone since body mechanics, body chemistry is less palleable for adults. But yes, I would argue against it if it weren't for the angerissues and huge bodymasses of the people curently engaging in it's use. I'd rather argue with r/trees, they are at least a bit more mellow.

Only if you work your legs out in a certain way. Then you will develop "bowled" legs and will not grow as tall as you would've.
Source: It happened to my dad.
9
u/theodrixx May 24 '13
Do you mean "bowed" legs, as in "bowlegged"?
2
May 25 '13
Yes, sorry. The word wasn't coming to me at the time.
2
u/theodrixx May 25 '13
For the record (and I don't know how much this matters to you) I didn't downvote you, and I think it's shitty of people to do so.
8
u/herman_gill May 24 '13
Being bowlegged is a result of having insufficient Calcium to properly develop bones properly (usually a result of a genetic disorder, Vitamin D deficiency, or Calcium insufficiency). It starts to happen a lot earlier than your teenage years.
Resistance exercise actually improves bone mineral density.

May 24 '13
because steroids and bodybuilding go together like a wink and a smile.
its overwhelmingly common among amateurs and universal (and excessive) among professional bodybuilding.
20
u/My_Pet_Robot May 24 '13
Oh. I guess I don't understand the concept. If they're using steroids though, isn't that kind of cheating? Like, what's the point?

u/Aprilo May 24 '13
Just because you use steriods does not mean you win automatically. It just takes you to a new realm of competition. Steriods give you an edge but you still have to be working 100% since everyone is on steriods too. It is pretty sad and scary.
It turns into a competition where who can use steriods and get the best results from them. However at that point steriods are just another supplement so its like whatever. Steriods aren't as bad for your body as the public makes it out to be.

I'm curious as to who's #1. I can think of several possibilities.
9
u/URETHRAL_DIARRHEA May 24 '13
SJWs. Neo-nazi's are worse morally speaking, but they also don't tend to stray very far from their little alcove online, whereas SJWs like to mess things up.

Why is it that kids always like to state their age?
64
u/PenisEngineMechanic May 24 '13
it's just confirmation bias, you don't notice the ones that don't state their age.
15
7
u/Epistaxis May 24 '13
If you could see the age of everyone on reddit, you'd realize how many more kids there are who don't identify themselves.
1
u/PenisEngineMechanic May 24 '13
Oh, I'm sure. I'm in my mid- twenties, and it dawned on me that I was probably way older than the average redditor recently.

1
u/winter_storm May 24 '13
You remember what it was like to be 13 - 18? Every year you age at that time, you are just sooooooo much wiser, smarter and more worldly than you were just one year before.
So why not advertise?
(At least, I am guessing that's why they do it. When I was that age, there was no such thing as the internet, and I certainly didn't go around announcing my age at every opportunity IRL.)
16
u/david-me May 24 '13
Because 115% of them claim they are mature for their age.

As a 15 year old, a lot of my friends claim to be mature for their age. 90% of them say that after making a really douchey statement. The other 10% follow it up with how much they love Bleach and My Little Pony.
Honestly, being mature for your age is pointless. If you really were, you wouldn't have to point it out. I'm a 15 year old, and I'll act like one. Not YOLO, fuck da police, my parents are dum, etc. Just learning, not trying to pretend I know anything.
I'm know I'm just stating the obvious, though. I just felt like putting that into text.
